Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

Birdie, quite reliable, reports after visiting the Ranjangaon plant that FCA is planning a very aggressive price for the Compass diesel AT, hence there is a chance that the 9-speed AT may be mated to a 1.6L MJD, instead of the regular 2.0L oil burner.

They also happened to see a single LHD unit of the Fiat Argo hatchback under camouflage within the plant premises.

That is disappointing. I was hoping for the 2.0 diesel AT. Any idea on the launch dates?

Thanks Avinash ! This is good news. But I do agree that 2.0 litre with AT would have been perfect. Now, it all depends on how well they tune the 1.6. I think they must have decided to go with 1.6 considering the most important factor in India, Fuel efficiency.

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

Got Delivery of my Compass last Thursday (Nov 16) from KHT Bangalore.
Found damaged interiors and suspect repainted doors as paint has minor bubbles (spotted by 3M detailing).
Both issue not apparent hence reported 4 hours after delivery.
Dealer, KHT is refusing and damage and also refusing to confirm on email that car was not repainted. They claim it passed PDI. All tyres PSI was 19 at delivery while rerequired PSI is 32-35, so much for PDI.

Something fishy, we bought a headache for 22 lacs!!! A paint depth test should confirm paint doubt.

I don’t think so. In all probability they will have AT in both 2.0 and 1.6 engine options.
They don’t have manufacturing constraints.

Jeep Compass 1.6 reviewed in UK, gets mediocre rating.

A claimed 64mpg is impressive, too. It still gets raucous above 3,000rpm, however, while there’s more vibration through the controls than in the best crossover rivals. Once up to a cruise, it’s wind and road noise that are the dominant intrusions.

It says, the Compass' drive lacks polish compared to its closest rivals.

Who are the rivals? Nissan Qashqai, Peugeot 3008, Seat Ateca, Skoda Kodiaq, VW Tiguan. The former 3 are not available in India, and the latter 2 are astronomically priced, and hence not rivals.

Here the Compass' rivals are Duster, Captur, Creta, Tucson etc.

The Compass with the 1.6L does 0-100kmph in 10.7s which isn't mediocre by any local standards.

FCA recalls to 1200 units of Jeep Compass to replace Front passenger airbag. It is advised NOT to use front passenger seat until the airbag is replaced on affected units.

Actually the compass segment straddles 2 segments but don't fall into either one. The closest is Tucson.

Look at approx. top end exshowroom prices of so called competition.

1. Duster - 13.5 Lakhs
2. Captur - 14 lakhs
3. Creta - 14 lakhs

4- Compass - 20 lakhs

5. Tucson - 25 lakhs
6. Tiguan - 27 lakhs
7. Kodiaq - 34 lakhs

Please point out if there are any inaccuracies in the prices since i have picked this from online sources.

All that Jeep needs to do now is to bring the Compass 1.6 MJD at around 15 lakhs exshowroom for a decently loaded 2 wheel drive variant.

That's unfortunate and exact opposite of what happened here - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...d-compass.html

I suggest you open a separate thread under dealership reviews with complete details and shoot an email to FCA with it's link. ATB!

I am contemplating on buying this vehicle. I am in Bangalore , so what is the time for getting this vehicle ? Is it a long wait ? Any specific colors which take more time ?
