The fun or thrill of owning a Jeep I think is trumping that.
Congratulations goldsmit409!

I agree that the driving experience is something which keeps Comapass above its rivals.

Regarding the front bumper lip, it is not a major issue, but it kisses the tarmac on mega speed breakers. If you are worried get it replaced with the one from the Limited plus model.

On fuel efficiency, it all depends on the traffic and your driving style. I am getting around 10-12Kmpl within city.

Is there a different bumper for limited plus compared to other variants?
I am getting the limited plus so I think there shouldn't be any issue then.

Sorry, I missed that point. Yes, Limited Plus comes with a better bumper lip. Probably after multiple complaints, they redesigned the bumper lip for Limited Plus. The bumper is still the same.

  • The white interior would be a nightmare to maintain. Current owners how do you manage this? To add to these woes my choice of color is Black which again would be hard to maintain. To be fair the exterior color would be same for the Seltos as well so that doesn't count so much.
  • Mileage to me seems fine for diesel I hope to get ~12 in city conditions. Is it realistic?
  • * I have put in black seat covers to circumvent whites
    * I get ~9.8 in city conditions (Gurgaon) on a 4x4 diesel. On the contrary pure highway drive has given me 18+

Is it ok to have seat covers in cars with side airbags?
I thought it blocks something. Which cover did you go with OEM or after-market?
Pics will be appreciated

I get around 9.8 to 10 kmpl. With a 60 litre tank the range should be 550 - 600 km on a full tank.

I also had a petrol Verna before and used to get around 12-13 kmpl with it.

No, you shouldn't go for standard seat covers on seats with side airbags as they add resistance that prevent proper deployment.

However, there are airbag compatible seat covers available. I haven't tried any yet. Waiting for the current grey leather seats to get enough of a "patina" before getting a cover.

EDIT:
Just found this for the compass: https://elegantautoretail.com/collections/jeep-compass

EDIT 2:
Got in touch with them. They said only some designs are airbag compatible. Here are some samples they sent of designs that are available for the Jeep Compass AND airbag compatible. Their public business WhatsApp account is at +91 87997 44342.

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

I was waiting for Seltos pricing to decide which one to go with. Compass now looks more VFM! Though prices have been substantially increased in the last 2 years, do you think Longitude Option still makes sense as a purchase? I would greatly appreciate current owners and others valuable comments? With Compass not selling much these days, what should I bargain for? I'm getting an on road quote of 21 lakhs for Longitude (O) Diesel variant now?

I called the Kia guys to cancel my Seltos booking and going ahead with compass not that Kia did not price it well but I was expecting a little to much from them since I was already biased towards Jeep. So anyways I think you should get good discount on the Jeep right now and 21 should be possible maybe even more and also for this month they have preferential rate of interest of 7.69% on loan if you are interested for that. So you save some in the interest as well.

As someone who is looking for a mid-size SUV, I would like to know how do you find Compass VFM compared to Seltos. I am interested in petrol version though.

I took a TD of Skoda Rapid TDI DSG and JC back to back and decided to go with Rapid DSG!

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

@Testing Team Mods
(From the perspective of the Diesel Jeep Compass Manual)

Would it be possible to share your view on

1. What would be better - 2WD or AWD and why
2. For highway / road use only with regular / non off road tyres from a performance, acceleration, stability, handling perspective only.
3. As in, the AWD will have a higher kerb weight resulting in lower BHP/Ton, Torque/Ton relative to the 2WD
4. Under what conditions will the AWD have any advantage over the 2WD

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

Renewed my Jeep insurance, this time I decided to go with MOPAR as I won't be in the country and I don't want my family to run pillar to post to get an insurance claim. My previous insurer was New India Assurance.

Rupees 36822, including zero depreciation, consumables and Return to Invoice(RTI) covers. I paid over 8000 rupees(New India quoted 28K), well, that is the price for peace of mind. Zero hassles as well as a cashless option available with MOPAR.
