| Re: Maruti Ertiga : Official Review
Seems like a DC-modified Ertiga by seeing the grill. The Ertiga Cross testing on Indian roads has roof rails, bulging wheel arches and a different grill layout. And do you think Suzuki will "silently" showcase "a new SUV"? They will make all noise about it! Last edited by romeomidhun : 19th July 2019 at 12:05. |

| Re: Maruti Ertiga : Official Review
This is a CONCEPT vehicle showcased in Indonesia, this may not be the exact car being tested in India and touted to be called as the Cross Ertiga, but it goes on to show how the seating arrangement may be in that version, to keep the modularity intact and use it as a 6/7 seater based on the requirements. |

| Re: Maruti Ertiga : Official Review Driving the 1.5 Diesel DDiS 225, 6 Speed M/T Ertiga: During the first week of July, few of us as usual planned for our annual Monsoon Drive to the Western Coast in Maharashtra and this time, the MD of a Dealership known to me insisted that I drive their Brand new 1.5 L Diesel 6 Speed M/T Ertiga that has arrived only 3 days before (one of their TD cars) and he had got one of them registered quickly only because we could take this for a real long spin and I get to share my impressions about this in comparison to its predecessor, the 1.3 MJD. So, here are my impressions, coming out of sitting behind the wheel of new oil burner from Maruti, doing duty on a people mover called the Ertiga which I drove for at least 850 Kms! I will limit my post strictly with driving impressions and nothing else in terms of the Interiors et al because a lot has been aptly covered in this official review itself. The drive comprised of 800 Kms of Dual carriageway with 400 Kms of it undergoing expansion work that has resulted in a lot of diversions and speedbreakers and bad sections along few diversions (thanks to recent rains). We were 4 Adults and a decent luggage with the 3rd row folded. 1. Characteristics of the new 1.5 Liter DDiS 225 Engine: A larger bore by 7.4mm and a shorter stroke by 1.6mm vis-ΰ-vis the DDiS 200 (1.3 MJD) producing ~ 95 Horses on tap , one word by which I would define this engine’s characteristic would be “Refinement”. This is evident right when you crank the engine and as it comes to life and chugs. The mild vibrations felt in the 1.3 MJD are nearly absent on the 1.5. The Idle note is silent, refined and crisp. The Engine feels smoother and refined even at regular driving speeds (100-120 Kmph) on the highway that all that you will notice is the wind noise along with the road noise resulting from the tires and typical “incomplete” floor insulation by Maruti. Engine related noises: [a] Clatter around 1400-1600 RPMs:2. Gearing and driveability of DDiS 225 : This engine is much more driveable than its predecessor. There is absolutely no doubt about it. More on the other aspects as outlined below. Turbo Lag:3. Driving Dynamics and other Aspects: Suspension:4. Final Impressions:

Distinguished - BHPian | Re: Maruti Ertiga : Official Review I'm more interested in knowing what all changes Maruti will make to convert this to Suzuki TECT body. That way we'll know what compromises Maruti is making over the original Suzuki design. They advertise SUZUKI TECT under NEXA safety shield. If the shell remains unchanged, this will be the first NEXA product without a Suzuki TECT body. I'm well aware that Ignis even with a TECT body didn't do well in the crash tests. But this is more of an academic interest in knowing what differences are there between the two shells. Regards, Shashi PS: Hope this gets the D pillar LEDs which Ertiga missed. Headlamps have been a disappointment, I keep the fog lamp along with low beam at all times, helps improve the situation a little more. Not sure if I can change the setup to HID without voiding the warranty of 5 years (and messing up the Smart Hybrid system)

| Re: Maruti Ertiga : Official Review Quote: My two cents are that the XL6 may not be 'the game changer', but it's placement above Mahindra Marazzo & below Toyota Innova surely places it very well in the MUV segment ! It surely should be looking ahead to a respectable sales figure considering the volumes of Marazzo & Innova !! Overall, probably another decent vehicle for the Indian clients !!! | |

No Quad headlamps, but LED Headlamps with DRLs. Marazzo already has a Quad Headlamp setup, if you're comparing the XL6 with the Marazzo, how is it a segment first feature then? Also, B-RV, Hexa, Innova Crysta, and XUV500 all have a Quad Headlamp setup. LED Headlights are a first in segment feature if I am not mistaken! It has the same interior space as the Ertiga, albeit in a 6 seat layout freeing up a small narrow walkway in the middle row. I fail to understand how will this statement of yours be true, "Small children will totally love this vehicle because of the presumed space inside"? The masses already have a big car for families in the form of Ertiga, this is for smaller families who need to travel in more comfort and do not need all 7 seats as in the Ertiga because of bucket seats in the middle row. I do not believe that the XL6 will be priced above the Marazzo, it may command a premium of ~Rs.50K variant for variant compared to the normal Ertiga for the extra features on offer. From what is being told, it will only be offered in the Zeta and Alpha variants. Ertiga Diesel ZDi and ZDi+ are priced at Rs.10.69Lakhs and Rs.11.2Lakhs (ex-showroom Manali). With a premium of Rs.50K, the prices for Zeta and Alpha diesel variants will be ~Rs.11.2Lakhs and Rs.11.7Lakhs respectively, while the top variants of Marazzo are priced at Rs.13.1Lakhs and Rs.14.7Lakhs respectively. And this is considering that the XL6 is launched with a Diesel engine, the Petrol MT and 4AT variants will be priced cheaper in comparison. Even if we factor in a price increase of Rs.1Lakh per variant, the XL6 will still be more than 1.5Lakh cheaper/variant than a Marazzo. Let's wait for 21st of August for all the details to be out. I so wish that they give this vehicle with options of both 6 and 7 seats, because with the expected higher ground clearance, body cladding, skid plates etc. it'll make more sense for places like Manali than the regular Ertiga with those black interiors also.

You haven't probably got me right in regard to the Quad Headlamps. I'm not sure what you meant with 'Quad Headlamp setup', but XL6's Quad Headlamps will be a first in segment. 4 nos. small headlamps with individual bulbs will make for 1 Headlamp & it looks stunning as well (sort of like this in an angled manner - ---- ). Will suggest you to wait for it & then you'll know what I meant. It'll not have the same interior space as the dimensions of XL6 will be bigger than that of Ertiga. And therefore, my statement stands true which you'll see when it's launched. Bingo, here you're surely correct about the small family thing. That's where Nexa will be pitching XL6. As for the pricing, XL6 will only come in Petrol with BSVI compliance. When Maruti is probably contemplating discontinuation of Diesel models due to the BSVI regulation knocking the doors on all engines, there's no logic that they'll introduce a Diesel engine in XL6. And yes, since it'll be sold through the premium channel of Maruti, slight overpricing is guaranteed (in mid-premium segment, Nexa models are the highest dealership revenue giving models on any average). So, it goes without saying that with upgraded looks/style, Maruti will keep XL6 as distanced as possible from Ertiga & with the projected client base, Maruti is bound to keep XL6 priced sufficiently higher to give the new clients a feel that they own a better & premium model than Ertiga. And yes, XL6 will be offered in the Zeta and Alpha variants only with AT options in both variants. Marazzo is only available in Diesel & XL6 will be only in petrol. I'm hoping that XL6 will be be in the range of 13L~15L. So, XL6 with a petrol engine will compare with Marazzo with a Diesel Engine on a similar price range, where the features will play a key role (Marazzo is well below in the feature factor). Seems like wild guesses I know, but I have my unsaid reasons for the supposed understanding. Finally, the dates of launch aren't finalized & 21st Aug was the date that was doing rounds when Ertiga Cross was in news (not XL6). So, the dates may be changed, predictably pre-poned (I know it's not a word). Even there is something going on with the final name of the product, as with the previous unsuccessful names of Maruti vehicles becoming superhits in their new avatar, chances are there that Maruti may change the name from XL6 to something else. Till then, fingers crossed

I would like to know how does it look longer or wider to you than Ertiga. It may look higher because of the Roof Rails, and be sure, that when it is launched, the only increase in dimensions will be because of the added body cladding and skid plates, not actually inside the cabin. Like in the case of Lodgy and Lodgy Stepway or Celerio and CelerioX or even Tiago and Tiago NRG. I would suggest that you shouldn't keep your hopes high about more interior space, or be ready to be shocked when this vehicle is actually launched next month. Even I will be ready to accept that I am wrong if MSIL actually makes it bigger than Ertiga on the inside!! The XL6 even shares body panels with the Ertiga, there is no way that MSIL will make the XL6 actually bigger than Ertiga and still share most of it's body panels. Quote:
In regards to Quad Headlamps setup, I now understand what you mean and yes it will be a Segment-First feature. But that is how LED Headlamps are in most of the vehicles, they are required to provide adequate illumination on the roads at night. Look at Seltos, etc. which have LED Headlamps and you'll understand. LED Projector Headlamps are different. The Quad Headlamps I was referring to are more commonly called as BiXenon Headlamps with a Projector and Halogen or 2 Halogen Headlamps in each Headlamp Cluster on both sides of the vehicle, like in Ertiga, Marazzo, B-RV, Hexa, XUV500 etc.
