I had this underbody armour done in Bangalore last year after buying my Thar. This is made of Aluminium. Its wuote light at 18kgs. And strong. Made by Arka Motorsports of Coimbatore. Installed at Mahindra Adventure at Sireesh Auto.
I find it gives me a great deal of peace of mind when I wander off into my various friends estates and the grasslands and rocks and all.

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

While checking SW version today, found this page.

Can these be enabled anyhow? I suppose 0x01 means enabled and 0x00 means disabled.

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

What is the best way to drive the thar petrol manual to get maximum mileage out of it? I've tried everything but in the city it doesn't go beyond 7.5-8kmpl. I mostly keep the RPM under 2000. What's the best way to shift gears? Follow the gear shift sign? Also, does changing gears in a lower speed use up more fuel? What's the ideal way? Need some advice.

I don't think you'd get any more than what you are already getting. Highway runs would probably get you a couple of kms more to the liter. Its a powerful gasoline engine after all and the boxy shape doesn't help either. Avoid lugging the engine.

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

Thar prices hiked again by around INR 25,000 effective immediately. This is the 3rd hike in this year itself. Wondering if this to do anything with the 6 Airbag rule to be effective from October 1st of this year.

At this rate the 5 door Thar might launch around the INR 19-20 Lakh by the time it is ready for a launch.

Edit: 25k plus for Diesel variants only and for the Petrol, it is around 5-6k.

Convert to CNG

Jokes aside.

The fuel efficiency is inversely proportional to the pedal pressure. Changing gears at lower speeds would demand you to press the accelerator more thus impacting fuel consumption. So a light pedal in gear 2 may give you more in than a heavy pedal in gear 3. Other than that what matters is how fast you accelerate (again related to how much you press the pedal). And below turbo zone

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

There are service alerts issued for all-new Thars:-

1) Turbocharger actuator link replacement for diesels.
2) Auto-tensioner and belt replacements for all Thars - petrol and diesel.

Do get your all-new Thars checked for these at your nearest Mahindra service center.

Thanks Avinash.

I just checked for my Mar 2022 manufactured Diesel Thar and it says that there are not service actions available.

Would you know if there is date range which is applicable to above service actions?

Thanks.

Being a Petrol Thar owner (Manual and Hard-Top), driven for almost 14000 kms since its ownership (3rd Feb 2022), I would say that the mileage you are getting is fine.
I am currently in Bangalore and I get between 7.7 to 10.8 and it depends how I drive. If I drive like a grumpy old man, then I get more but its hard to drive because that mstallion tempts you a lot.

The fuel you use has a lot play here too, I prefer either XP95 from Indian Oil or Shell Normal. Personal experience - Shell feels lot smoother and gives more mileage. On Highways, if driven between 70 kmph to 85 kmph, I get a mileage of 13 to 15. I have driven it constantly at 110 to 120 and the mileage dropped to 11 kmpl.

Like everyone else pointed out - Putting foot on Accelerator and Boxy design also account for Mileage.

I have a Petrol Thar and its January 2022 model. How were you able to check it, by going to Service Center or is there any other way like an online portal from Mahindra to check this.
