XUV having a dream run. I am sure tata cannot deny that a lot of prospective XUV customers have also shifted to Harrier+Safari owing to the long wait times of XUV.
TATAT might have to time the facelift/new feature additions in a better way since the current advantage might not stay forever.
Exciting times...

Safari owners in Delhi-NCR, which dealer do you recommend for the first and subsequent service visits? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hydraulic steering gives you the right mixture of stability and ease of use. Electric steering on the other hand may seem comparatively effortless but it can be unnerving at highway speeds as a mere flick of your finger can change the course of direction.

After driving 100,000 + km in a hydraulic steering vehicle, I would say that hydraulics are better in the sense it offers better feedback. When hydraulic steering fails, you can still drive the car albeit with more physical power.
I believe it may not be the case with electric steering.

But wouldn't the Electric steering weigh up on highway speeds?

It does. But it is not sufficient enough. May be it has something to do with where you start.

WagonR single handedly gave EPS a bad name but Swift fixed that in the early 2000s only to have vehicles like Celerio etc ruin it for them again recently.

I have made peace with Hydraulic Vs Electric situation long back because of their utility, how either of them when properly set up makes my life easy while allowing me to enjoy the drive all the same. I do have to admit that my daily drive vehicles are all old dinosaurs.

The steering is mechanical for all vehicles so that it will work even if power assist is no longer there, when EPS was new they used to be very expensive to fix and many small vehicles were running around with non functional EPS.

One of the first vehicle I have driven with power steering also happens to be one of the first 'SUV' around - Tata Sierra. Power steering was feather light - the only part of that vehicle that would give you any feedback was the Horn pad. On the other hand a Ford Ikon will have very strong steering feedback which enthusiasts like while a Mitsubishi Lancer was light and easy to use - all of them were hydraulic.

From what I have experienced, its not the type of steering but how it is set up - Within the same era an Indica`s hydraulic power steering is no match for a Swift`s EPS.

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

Safari automatic owners, my third service is scheduled tomorrow and I am confused, about whether to take the P2P AMC pack or not.

P2P 4 years/60K km pack costs 42K rupees.

Any suggestions/guidance?

In my regular read of Safari and Harrier threads in the forum, I have noticed that at least for a few of the users, brake pads are getting worn out within 15K km. And replacement of that will cost 18K to 20K rupees. The other main part covered in the P2P package is the clutch.

Any of the forum members have changed the clutch within 60K km of use?

I was in similar dilemma last week, as my one year service was due.

The Gold AMC for two years was approximately 39500 rs . This includes services and parts as well.
Mind you, the Gold AMC has to be taken before first year of ownership is complete.
However already one year of that is lapsed. So effectively for one year AMC, you end up paying 39k.

The silver AMC can be taken any time during the ownership. It includes only services and labour. But no parts are covered.

For P2P , the cost is 41800 rs for four years .
It can be better VFM , considering it covers majority of wear and tear parts . Combined with extended warranty ( which covers Engine, Automatic gearbox) , the P2P will give you more stress free ownership.

PS. I took P2P for four years.

Seat comfort can be defined in different ways, and this would depend on the usage. Who, and what distance travelled. My mum being 70+, does sleep in a sitting position when seated on the rear seat of the Storme. And there are times on outstation journeys when she sleeps on the seat. The bench really works out.

Is it a test mule for EV Serria that is on its way?
Is it just me or is that number plate on the Safari missing 2 numbers at the end as all number plates have 4 digit numbers and this seems to be missing 2 digits
