I think that timing is is for the Laura Tsi. The diesel is slower to the ton than Cruze.

Sorry , i meant the 1.9 PD i.e. 105 bhp spec

0-100 figure of 8.7 secs is almost VRS Quick the more trustworthy figures from ACI are as follows ;

Still the new 140 bhp spec 2.0 unit does the 0-100 unit sprint in 9.7 secs.

check autocar review ;
Laura 2.0 TDI | Review | Autocar India

I have owned both the cars, & drove the Laura (L&K , 06) till 1.13 Lakh kms & sold & bought the CRUZE LTZ ( still owned )

The Laura has tremendous potential & a superb cruiser where as the Cruze is more wild you really need to tame it by proper gear selection & downshifting at the right moment if you do that then it dominates the road and can even keep up with the quicker 30 L category Germans.

But still if i had to compare both the cars , the Laura is surely a all rounder which can be owned as a long termer as its a more comfortable cruiser as the low end is way better & also the handling is spot on where as the Cruze you have to always keep the rev in check but still for the way the turbo kicks in
i have no complaints

So in short the LAURA is like a girl you can MARRY & on the other hand the CRUZE is like a EXTRA MARITAL AFFAIR

Yeah, the Pump Duse spec Laura can be compared to the Chevrolet Optra Magnum 2.0L since their performance is at par in the more or less 11 second zone.

I have one, Laura PD car ABS version and hope to get a Pete's tune done by year end.I wish that it had the ASZ spec PD engine which Skoda never launched in India.The ASZ engine has a 130bhp diesel unit stock

Only problem being that I have to drive it all the way to Chennai for the fuel mapping and I always run out of time.Or just getting the Tune box and green filter would make it only wee bit slower than the stock Cruze but faster than the stock Magnum which has a 125hp diesel.

Other than that truly speaking, Laura feels like a battleship, very safe and sound and an effortless diesel if it is employed for joy rides with the family.
For pure unadulterated fun on Indian roads, I prefer bikes..........not much a car focused myself and a slow driver too but a way fast rider.

It took me around 9.8 seconds to do 100kmph(105 on speedo). However, if I try again, I may take 9 seconds or 11 seconds. 0-100 depends all upon the driver. In real world, you won't notice much difference between 9 sec to 100 or 10 sec to 100 car, unless you are in a drag race.
Whats more important is drivability, which is the 140bhp cruze's weak point. However, I have not driven the 160bhp cruze, so cannot comment whether things have improved or are the same.

From my TD of the new Cruze, its better than the older one but not as good as the Jetta. The thing about the new Cruze is that it doesnt feel like it has 164 horses.

Eagerly awaiting a review of the new Cruze by Team-Bhp. The details in the above link provided and the PDF file attached seem more believable. 8.5s to the ton seems apt with 380Nm at 2000rpm. Wonder what went wrong for the mags to quote a higher time than previous Cruze which gives 327Nm at 2200rpm.

re: Chevrolet Cruze LTZ 2.0 Diesel : Test Drive & Review

OK, I got an opportunity to TD the new Cruze MT, finally !!, had been chasing on the sales folks for some time now.

Here are my findings -

1) The FUN factor on the Cruze is NO longer there, for a person like me who loves the lag followed by a sudden surge in power, that pinned back feeling, all that is GONE on the new Cruze. The power delivery is very very linear now, for some, it can be said, it is more drive-able in the city. No clue where the additional horses or the 5 Kgm of torque have gone.

2) The clutch is far far lighter than the older one, another thing that I typically don't like, no wonder I don't like the 2012 Swift.

3) The interiors are identical to the older Cruze, I did not see not any major upgrades on the interiors.

All in All - 16L + OTR, Delhi for the LT, I would NOT recommend anyone to plonk his/her money. For once i'll have to go with VW and say, looking at that price point, the Jetta (TL) has far better interiors & ride quality, the performance might be more or less the same as on the Cruze. Additionally, there is no comparison between the Jetta and the Cruze as far as the interiors go, the Jetta is leagues ahead.

Happy Motoring !!

re: Chevrolet Cruze LTZ 2.0 Diesel : Test Drive & Review

My first post on Team-BHP.
It could have been the ownership review of new 166PS Cruze LTZ MT. Have not been able to click pictures of the car with new features so that's delayed a bit.
Did post the very initial impressions from my friends ID #853. Now i have driven the car about 1600 KMS. Hoping to click pictures this Saturday to write a detail review.

Planning to visit the Race Dynamics office tomorrow to check what the DieselTRONIC can do with the new engine. Have already changed the stock tyres to Yokohama DNA db 225/55/16 94V and Air Filter to K&N.

Will inquire with RD about their plan release date for the new box. Reading the comments on forum i have arrived at the decision to go with RD. I need help in deciding if it's fine to go with the tuning box with only about 1600 KMS done on the car? Or should i wait for some more time.

Just a small request. When you do visit RD for info regarding the new box, it would be great if you could ask whether they'll be offering the new DieselTronic even for the old Cruze engine (VM motori plant).

And may be we could meet up sometime and put up a comparison of the Old and the New Cruze. What say? Where are you put up?

Thank you!!

re: Chevrolet Cruze LTZ 2.0 Diesel : Test Drive & Review

As per the latest news - GM is set to launch yet another upgrade of the Cruze by around Diwali this year. This upgrade will be as per the "international model". This news/rumor was confirmed by a dealership in Delhi NCR as well. What I do not understand is as to why could not Chevrolet just launch the proper upgraded version this in July or could postponed the July upgrade to the proper one in Diwali. I am sure a lot of customers who purchased the 166PS Cruze (after such a long wait and increased cost) will not take it kindly, if Chevrolet were to launch a far more improved version within a short period of 3 - 4 months. Any comments or updates ?
