Iqbalji, These are two Ambassadors Mark II from the earlier years. Both are fitted with the Smiths meters.

The earliest Landmasters (above) had the aesthetically designed ones with the flip cover, but in the later ones it became as simple as these.
They made it simpler just to cut cost of that JUGAAD, typical mentality of Indian car mfgrs.Over and above this ugly change was not seen as a insult to earlier ones, since those days there was no CHOICE as today, had it been today times people would have raised thier voices.

Yes, it's optical illusion indeed. You don't get to see an Amby image as clear side profile. Trust me, I won't make that kind of mistake.

Anyway though slow progress, you can check the car's status here.

Re: Landmaster And Ambassador Picture Gallery

This is one thread that I wanted to see all the time but I never did. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to handle the good old memories and our Amby.

I really wonder if there is a way to find it back? I think I can afford to buy it back.

Seriously, How does one go about tracing a car? I just have the reg no. I know where we sold it, I did hear of a close friend of mine sighting it on a near by town, with a different color ( neptune blue) and a diesel engine!

I think I would be able to trace it.

Look what happens when you start going through a 'forbidden' section on Tbhp. Aaaaargh GTO! This is going to cost me!

guys around trichy please chip in on sighting a TNS 2977.

Rudra,

By the looks of it, the second option is looking better. Matt black will not look good with a shiny gleaming car in my opinion. There are lot of amby's with chrome ascent on the wheels. Very common but looks good. Have you thought of that.

Re: Landmaster And Ambassador Picture Gallery

Manish, second option is also our choice. Regarding chrome ascent the issue here is pin slot positions. It's designed for Amby and fit regular Amby/Gypsy rim perfectly. To fit that here I need to make holes on the rim. Brand COX is the only decent one in the market.

Speaking of which, I badly need COX brand CONVEX hubcaps in stainless steel that came on the Ambys. Anyone who could help me get them
Even used ones if good will do.

Re: Landmaster And Ambassador Picture Gallery

For Landy fans, here's one that I happened to see at Secunderabad today, after quite a few years. This car had incidentally been to one of our rallies here in the past.

The tail-lamps are not original (and I think even the dash etc), had something like maruti van ones earlier now fitted with scorpio ones!

But otherwise looks good.

It would be difficult to find such neat Amby taxis now as Indica/Indigo s are going the rounds in the present.

There are lots of well kept ambassadors(new and old) plying as Taxis in Rural parts of Trivandrum, epecially in border villages like Parassala, Neyyatinkara, and also in Attingal,Varkala, etc

Yup Shyam, I saw this beauty, I was thinking it should get into your notice someday and that happened, she looks awesome the only cosmetic error is the scorpio tail lamps which can be corrected easily if he gets the original lamps, previously he had some tail lamps from tempo. I love the colour and it's a driver driven car hence well maintained.
