Re: Landmaster And Ambassador Picture Gallery

Super Job venkat, very high quality work, a true feast for the eyes. Congrats!!! Why don't you color match the wheels with the upholstery and go for white wall tyres? For reference you could check out a Mark I in this thread that has red interiors and red wheels. Just a suggestion.....

That is right. Changing the glasses and the plate would make it truly original.

This picture is from teambhp. Here two of the small meters shown may not be original, but the original configuration is like this. The speedo and the fuel meter with the three light cluster is original however and so are the dash plate and the switches.
beg to differ Anjan. Nothing in my car (pictures above) has been replaced except the choke cable. it is completely original as my grandad got it. I have been seeing this car for the last 37 years. and I doubt anything was changed before that!

There was no Landmaster in 1958. By then it was only the first gen. Amby.

Yes during this period the twosome referred in Anjan's post was OE. They were not Smiths meters but of Autometer make which resembled Smiths and were marked in KMPH. Later on Autometer switched to the Yenkay lookalikes meters referred as 'Threesome'.

I was looking for a water pump for 1956 land master side valve engine. Will any other model water pump suit this or can anybody give me a lead to any source.

Ajay, I was expecting this question from you! Well, I can say 50/50! I had got hold of one!.The water pump is cracked and it needs replacement. So, will it be risky to take it and replace from my side? The present owner is ready to bear the cost of the part.

Does anybody have a source for a new one or know how for any equivalent replacement from any other cars?

My Landmaster water pump had also become fit for write off very recently. The car was in the workshop. The workshop people tried a lot to procure a new one from the metros. But nothing came along. Then they got the erring spares fabricated at Shri Iqbal Ahmed's workshop by Shri Aqueel Ahmed.Incidentally, Shri Iqbal Ahmed is the person who designed the miniature railway engine and only last year he designed and displayed the miniature model of the first car ever - a 1886 Benz.
Back to the topic, the car is doing very well now with the repaired water pump.
So Sanjeev if you have the old water pump, it is repairable in good hands.
