I am not trying to copy anyone's color here. This is the color of the car that was as I got it. All I did was changed it to metallic & painted the roof white. I will post another picture of my grandfathers mark-1, that is the family from 1963.

Sir,
Amazing restoration work.feels clean & crisp. Please change the floor mats to original red color coir mats , which was available those days. Also please put wheel mats and a new gear lever handle.

Put new cap on steering with H monogram as your current one is quiet faded. Also i feel steering assembly has to be repainted with dupont.

rest all fine. Please share the place where you did this job.

rajith

Hi Shri Venkat ji, Super restoration job, great job, everything from ashtray for rear seat to gear lever knob is taken care of, to keep as original as possible. I feel that such clean restorations can be done only in south India, and they are happy to work on Ambassadors.Pls change the head light rims as mark 2 had large shade type ,and were made of heavy metal.

Lovely restoration job done Venkat. The car looks brand new and the attention to detail is quite excellent. Which paint you have used ? The result is excellent. The chrome plating quality was beginning to go down around 1965 or so, for the HM cars due to the massive indigenisation undertaken and the government price controls where the manufacturer and buyer suffered.
I would request you to fit white wall tyres for the full period look. Also on my wish list are pictures of the engine bay and luggage boot pictures that I would very much like to see.

Re: Landmaster And Ambassador Picture Gallery

Brilliant restoration...it has the original gear lever. the only bad thing about it is the color of the interior. a period no. plate and white wall tires will be better.

That really is a beauty - amongst the nicest looking Mk IIs I've seen in a long time, especially love the colour. Great to see the trim on the windscreens and the non locking petrol cap, amongst other bits. Well done! Do share some more detailed pictures.

Was that gear lever knob also offered on Mk IIs? I would think it would have been a black unit by then.

Incidentally the rear numberplate with the 'ledge' is very much the original plate that was (and probably is still) offered on Ambys.
