I guess dumping in the baggage compartment is a big no no and would preferably carry it along with me in the flight. Now I would like to ask the folks who have gone through this route (carrying helmet with them) the dos and donts and any tips at all, basically their experiences...

And will it have to have an airline tag as well? Security an issue? Do I need to show bills/invoice?

Thanks in advance!
I picked up Scorpion Exo 750 Carbon Black limited edition. Cost me 300 CHF which comes to around 14K. Its a great lid. The store owner who is a biker himself swears by it and he himself has one.

Also have a HJC. Pics of both attached. Excuse for the bad quality.

Re: The Riding Gear thread

Picked a helmet a few days ago. Priced Rs.3800 at Helmet Paradise. pretty comfortable. Needs allen keys to take the visor off. The flip up action is pretty smooth and the lock mechanism seems quite secure. Picked up a spare visor as well. The helmet seems to to be of good quality and weighs 1450 gms. I was used to that weight as my older AGV also almost the weighed the same.

Re: The Riding Gear thread

Hello mates, I had lost my vega during the mishap I had about 2 months ago and now I'll need a new helmet. Budget is approximately 3k and I stress on safety and not on lid's styling because it is only due to last helmet, gloves n jacket that I am alive here today. Hoping to see lots of suggestions. I still have about 20 days before I go buying it. So lots of time with me.

Regards.

I believe most have confused the riding gear thread with the helmet thread, http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motorb...post-78-a.html

YC, I am replying you at the dedicated thread.

Cheers

At that budget, nothing rocks the boat as LS2. I too have one and for the price, its comparable (not the quality, but design/padding etc) to helmets twice or thrice its price.

If you can increase your budget till 4K, you can get RJays Helmets - BIKES I RIDING GEAR I PERFORMANCE ACCESSORIES I SPARES the plain finish ones.

Please go in for the best you can buy at the moment, as you, after the crash for sure know how crucial a helmet is for a rider.

Happy Buying

+1 to Sheel's advice.

I have been using a LS2 Dragon for an year now and absolutely love it. It gives you a very secure feeling inside. However, it isn't exactly light.

Also, try and stretch your budget as much as possible and go in for whatever is best at that price.

re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

Friends

Buying a TBTS this week. Please suggest a good helmet which will go with the bikes look.

Here are 2 helmets that i saw yesterday. I really don't want to buy a mismatch for the Bike.

Suggestions welcome for better ones.

re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

^ That is such an easy choice. Buy the helmet with the chin guard on it.

The open face cannot give you as much protection as the other one.

Of course I would not buy either of these two. The studds ninja helmet has always appeared very flimsy to me.

Budget at least 3k for a helmet. Get at least an LS2.

Got it for 2,500 after giving reference of TBHP and xBHP Also got the dark visor extra for 500 bucks

EDIT: Wanted to know, is it illegal to drive with a dark visor?

re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

I purchased a RJays from Bacchoo Motors, about 4+ and I must say with each apssing sweltering day, the helmet keeps performing, adequate ventilation and extremely good visibility. Please try and ensure that you get a helmet with ventilation- its very comfortable to rice...
What I am more impressed with is the Octane jacket which is also holding up well in this heat, and the mesh is truly a good 'air' path... There is no excessive sweating and to the contrary, when on the move, except for the spine area, the rest is kept very cool.

re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

Any reviews on Cross helmets? Need a helmet for my daily use budget 3000 Rs max. I saw a Cross helmet which suits my needs, price was 1700, I am not too sure of the brand so thought of doing some research before finalizing. Cross is a Chinese product.

Dragon (or for that matter, any LS2) is available in Mumbai for ~2.5k. So you could bargain hard.
