Hmm. two months ago it was in pretty shabby state. You can do 70'ish speeds but the suspension of the car wont last that long! In late april when I went via this route, there were sudden potholes!

Thats why for all practical purpose, GQ is a much better proposition.

Maybe the car developed wings.... Having the same ride for 3 years, and the gods of suspension have been kind with the drives i do.

Not sure if its flying or driving. Exit Elec City around 2.30am, and see the results for yourselves.

Another ex below-Old Madras Rd to Sriperumbudur (290km-less than 4hrs-avg speed at a much higher 72.4kmph. Destination was Kanchipuram...but overshot and kept going like crazy

GPS track below for reference-

Then only thing is to check with others about how to By-pass CBE.

Also doing all the visits and reaching Munnar by evening, may be tight.
And you should not miss views between Udumalpet and Munnar. Plan to cover this section in broad daylight. Vistas are too good to be missed in dark!

I agree with Ampere.
To be frank, its better to take GQ to CBE, when going to Munnar.

Or if you want to cover, Mysore / Srirangpatna - better to stay at Mysore after sightseeing and then proceed next day.

Also, you are 15 people & hiring a TT - so, you may not be travelling too fast.

Can you guys suggest some hotels and eateries both in Munnar and on the highway?

I just did the Bangalore to Munnar Trip last week in my i20 CRDi.

The route I took was Bangalore->Hosur->Krishnagiri->Dharmpuri->Perundurai->Kangayam->Dharapuram->Udumalpet->Chinnar->Munnar

The total distance on this route is about 485 kms and we did it in 8 hours. The roads are quite good.

Cheers

This is the standard route which I also did. @Xotiq, did another one:

BLR-Krishnagiri-Perindurai-Avinashi-Pallandam-Pollachi-Udumalpet-Munnar.

Looks even this route is good. You can choose one. If you plan to Mysore also, I would suggest start late in the day, you can finish Mysore/Srinrangapatna and stay over night at CBE. That should be doable.
Start next day from CBE and hit Munnar.

Other option is do Mysore part on the way back. That should mean doing MYS/BLR at night which I think is OK.

Thanks,
