re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

Can anyone suggest a good hotel for coffee/bio break between Salem and Madurai ?

Also, between Madurai and Rameswaram ?

Thanks a lot.

*mentioning some options on left side so you don't have to make U-turns
On Salem-Madurai stretch:
1.Hotel Annalakshmi at Perundurai, left side of highway
2.Sree Saravana Bhavan, Few kms ahead of #1, beside Vijayamangalam/Vaikuntam toll (Sankari)

On Madurai-Rameswaram stretch:
During our trip we stopped at one of the hotels in Ramanathapuram, quite a few here you can stop at one of these

^ Yes those are on Salem - Coimbatore route. NPV's Rameswaram travelogue has detail of restaurants en-route.
There is a descent place called as Valluvar family resturant after Karur towards Madurai, it comes on right side so you will have to take a U turn some half KM ahead.
The location is around here.
You can see the image of the same in my travelogue here

Oops, my bad, @coolclouds, @suhas - thanks for pointing out!
As suhas mentioned there is a list of eateries we saw enroute (in my travelogue) but that one's 2 years old so there may be more now. I've recently read about Hari's just after Madurai toll on right side.

@tempelhof - take the Airport ring road to hit the Rameswaram highway NH49, this will bypass Madurai town.

re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

Please suggest a service apartment or hotel closer to the Bangalore airport (BIAL). It's for a couple and their daughter. Anything closer to the hotel, will be better.

re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

Need help.

I will be visiting Goa in the second week of next month (Not a vacation though) . Need to attend a conference in Cide de goa . However I will not be staying there. I am searching for a budget accommodation in Panjim.

Can anyone suggest a good /clean hotel ? A colleague will be accompanying me and we need good vegetarian hotels for breakfast and dinner.

re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

Hello All, I'm planning to visit Wayanad over this weekend, stay for two nights. Can any one suggest which will be the best location among Kalpetta, Mananthavadi and Sulthan Bathery for hotel accommodation. I can go with Home stay or Hotel but should be able to visit as much as tourist spot as possible in two days. Appreciate if any one can guide me with the best location and the possible spots I can cover.

Thank you in advance.

If it is to visit as many locations as possible, it would be better to stay in a hotel - since getting in and out of resorts would be time consuming. Kalpetta would be ideal - I would recommend either Hotel Haritagiri or Woodlands, both bank in the middle of Kalpetta. Royal Palm resort, Kalpetta is also good. Though called a resort, it is more like a Hotel

Thanks a lot.

More than a nice place for Coffee, my top priority is to find a place where there are good toilets

Summarizing some of findings here for the benefit of everyone:
  1. Chinar : AAB (most folks would know this)
  2. Thopur : AAB (just before the toll, while going south)
  3. Krishnagiri : Namesake Saravana Bhawan (after the bridge)
  4. Vaazhapadi Toll Gate : Hotel Kaffee (travelling west towards Salem)
  5. Kaaval Kinaru : From Kanyakumari towards Tirunelveli (Coffee / Tea); no toilets
  6. Rameswaram : Hotel Daiwik
  7. Tirunelveli : Hotel AppleTTree, North Bye-pass Road
  8. Chidambaram : Hotel Krishna Vilas (no toilets); East Street
  9. Vaidheeswaran Koil : Hotel Akshardham
  10. Mayiladuthurai : Hotel Kaaliaakudi; Hotel PAMS
  11. Karur : Hotel Arunachala (no breakfast; only lunch)

Will add more as I remember...

re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

Hi guys. I am planing a bike ride to Konkan in the coming few weeks. Does anybody know clean/homely but very cheap hotels/homestays etc in towns like Anjarle/Kelshi (and surrounding towns), Ganpatipule (and surrounding towns) and Malvan/Tarkarli (and surrounding towns).

I may be going solo so these places are just to crash at night/shower after reaching so they can be as basic as possible, but need to be clean and livable. Also they should allow me to stay alone and not be shocked and scared thinking that I am travelling alone so I must be a terrorist or suicidal maniac of some sort. (Well I have got such reactions before!)

Also can anybody suggest good restaurants for really authentic-tasty-local sea food along the route for lunch/snacks etc. Places that hopefully you guys have first hand experience with.

Thank you.

Any good accommodation at Dhule or Jalgaon? It has to have clean toilets and hot water in the morning. Intended use is a night halt en route Mumbai - Shegaon.
