Faster is a good movie with a twisted plot.

Dwayne Johnson has acted very well, so did Billy Bob thornton, That other Killer guy is useless.

Like everyone said. It's a action movie out and out. And, Rock seems to be in a restless mode throughout the movie. Always glancing around and moving to his next kill.

Plotwise, there was nothing great shakes. It reminded me a bit of 'Highway Men" starring Jim Caviezel including the type of car used.

First movie that I saw of Dwayne Johnson and was pleasantly surprised when he opened his mouth. Pretty nice voice and clean dialogue delivery.

Super duper physique he got. 6ft.6inch and 125kg. Wow! Most of us have kg figures right but, fall short on the height factor

I would love to see him and Vin Diesel in a movie together.

There is actually no action scenes in this movie. Just plain simple shooting. Slightly disappointing.

Overall, just an average time-pass movie.

2/5

P.S: Next in Line " In Brugues" starring Colin Farrel. Review please?

Just returned after watching 'Limitless' - although based on a myth that we do not use 100% of our brain, some nice camerawork, swift direction and cool acting by Bradley Cooper makes this unevenly paced movie a nice one to watch. Add Robert De Niro to that, and this film gets 4/5 from me.

re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Folks,

Saw two movies over the weekend

1) The Next Three Days (Russell Crowe, Banks)
A comman man tries to get his wife from Prison for a crime she didnt committed. Initial 45 mts were slow but boy.. Russell's acting was too good. After that movies goes to fast pace. Entire crew did a good job on acting. Opt dialogues, cam work and editing.

Worth watching - 4/5

2) Sanctum
Underwater cave exploration went wron when a cyclone brings floods into their path. Expected twists, Old father-son relationship. But nice location and sets
Watch it if want to kill some time. 2.0/5

Story of 2 Brit/Irish hitmen taking a vacation after a big job in scenic city of Bruges in Belgium.

As we all know, hitmens cannot take vacations peacefully, there is lot of madness involved.

Extremely dark movie and one of the most wittiest lines that I enjoyed in a long time. Colin was good but, Ralph Fiennes was the highlight of this movie.

There is one message Ralph leaves with Hotel Owner for Brendan and Colin. That kept me in splits for a long time. I rewinded it atleast 5 times to hear that message out

Similarly, there are atleast 3-4 such situations which were hilarious.

Great characters and one of the most scenic landscape that i ever saw in my life. Added visiting to Bruges, in my to-do list before i die.

Movie gets slow in between but, definetly worth watching for the lovely brit humour

3/5

Did you say Horror? Can't let a discussion on my favorite genre go by without a few recommendations. Here goes:

Recent films

Cronos - Guillermo Del Toro - Spanish - Fantasy +Horror

Let the right one in (Swedish I think) - Vampire Flick recently remade as Let Me In

Rec (Spanish) - Horror (Remade as Quarantine in English)

Dust Devil (S. Africa) - Supernatural Thriller (I haven't seen it yet but heard great things about it)

The Ruins - Adventure/ Horror

Imprint - (Japan) Commissioned for US Cable TV but banned due to extreme visuals. Another horror masterpiece from Takashi Miike. Not for the faint of heart and pregnant ladies.

Thirst - Korean Vapire flick from the director of Oldboy

Frontiers (France) - Ultra intense slasher flick.

Martyrs (Canada) - Ultra violent and disturbing film. Thought provoking if you can watch till the very end.

Pontypool (Canada) - A different take on the zombie sub-genre. Disease spreading through language.

Descent (UK) - Claustrophobic Horror Adventure

Classics

Zombi (Dir: Lucio Fulci) - Italian gore maestro Fulci's timeless classic. He's obsessed with eyeball torture jut like Tarantino's obsessed with women's feet.

The Beyond (Dir: Lucio Fulci) - Innovative and original! a warlock opens one of the seven gateways to hell. There's a scene involving a jar of acid which is a must watch. (check it out on you tube before you spend money on a DVD)

City of the living dead(Fulci again) - Another baddie from Fulci. Bleeding eyes, regurgitated entrails etc!

The New York ripper (Lucio Fulci) - The Mother of all slasher films!

Rosemary's Baby (Roman Polanski) - Dark / Supernatural Thriller

Suspiria (Dario Argento) - An American student in a reputed Italian dance academy reliases that it's actually a coven of witches! One of the the most beautifully shot horror films!

The Howling - If you dig werewolves!

Silver Bullet - Based on Stephen King's "Cycle of the Werewolf"

Fright Night - Classic Vampire Flick.

Mausoleum - Seductive housewife kills victims after being possessed.

Tombs of the Blind Dead - Spanish horror fiilm about undead Templar Knights. The ringwraiths from Lord of the Rings (film) were inspired by these hooded Zombies on horses.

Kwaidan - (Japan) Japanese folk tales about the supernatural. Done in a very artisitic way. Almost like watching live theatre. Highly recommended!

Most of the above films are not run of the mill horror. You'll find a lot of variety in these lists. Enjoy!!!

re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Some more movies to add to the above list :
1. Drag me to Hell ( Horror master Sam Raimi's return to his horror roots )
2. Pan's Labyrinth ( Not exactly horror, but one of the best fantasy movies ever from Guillermo Del Torro )
3. The Devil's Backbone ( Another horror/fantasy from Del Torro set during the Spanish civil war)
4. 30 Days of Night ( Decent vampire flick based on a graphic novel )
5. Mist ( Frank Darabont's 3rd movie based on Stephen King story )
6. In the mouth of Madness ( One of the lesser known movies from John Carpenter, but it has a very intriguing premise. The effects look a bit dated though )
