And if I am not wrong then Mumbai city budget allowance is one of the best in the country. Still this state of roads is despicable.

With 5 people on board, my friend's Polo scrapped a number of breakers. That too when he was negotiating each one at angle. How do all those BMW and Mercedes manage to survive?

Absolutely spot on! It took me slightly less than 30mins from end of Andheri flyover on WEH to Kherwadi signal. I was expecting far worse but surprisingly it wasn't that bad.

One will find speed breakers of all sizes in this bezerk city ! I too face a similar "thudd" while negotiating some of the maniac speedbreakers in Mumbai. Worse, most of the times one doesnt find enough room to take on the speedbreaker at an angle to avoid scraping my Ritz's undercarriage due to traffic in adjacent lanes. The civic authorities probably use ordinary laborers to dump lumps of tar and curve them (thankfully !) to make it look like a speedbreaker. They're actually Bonebreakers !!! Even Honda Citys hit the bottom while negotiating such obstacles on the road !!

Finally the PWD wakes up !!!!!!!! They have promised to repair the Aarey colony roads in two weeks, believe it or not .
Hopefully we can look forward to a comfortable drive through the greenery for a couple of months before the new asphalt cracks up. I just pray they dont lay paver blocks and worsen the condition of the road eventually.

Wow. Thats some good news after months of Aarey becoming a Dirt Track. I hope they do a good job that the road lasts, atleast till the next monsoon (i know i am dreaming)

Finally some good news for Aarey Road.

The road is currently in real bad shape & practically non-motorable. I travelled through the road on Diwali eve & I literally repented my decision.

They will not lay paver blocks on Aarey but a layer of Tar will be applied. The road will be good till monsoon (July 2014).

Yes. They will a good job. But the definition of good job here is the 'good' road will last till start of next monsoon. Come July 2014 & the Aarey road will once again become dirt & off-roading track once again.

Well said. Bicycling after driving around in the xuv was an eye opener. Suddenly, you realize that every single road in this city is uneven and rutted. I haven't come across a single, well paved stretch of road from Bandra to lower parel and I've tried cadell road, tulsi pipe and Lady Jamshedjee road. Of course, the sea link would be bliss but in a city like Bombay, dream on!

Almost every intersection of a signal is patchy and uneven. Some have paver blocks in the corners that have come out and repairs handled very poorly. Some places they have big iron sheets laid right in the center of the road where even a small amount of water or oil can make your bike slip and cause accidents if you apply brakes. Last monsoon my scooter had such a sudden fall once.

Sometimes I can't help but think whether they have designed intersections this way to make sure you are driving slow and prevent mishaps. Really I too have no words to express what a waste of my tax payer money.

On the way to office today, saw a Honda Amaze turned turtle in the south bound lane adjacent to the southern end of the Sion Hospital Flyover on the Eatern Exp Way(Near Kings Circle Station).

The south bound lane was slowly getting congested and curious onlookers were slowing up traffic on the flyover as well.

If you can, try to take a detour.

Have you noticed cycling tracks in BKC? They looked bright and green initially, though not really even. BKC is predominantly a commercial area, where hardly anybody commutes by cycle. I wonder why cycling tracks were made there You can imagine the status of those tracks now!

That 12 km cycling track at BKC was inugrated sometime in 2011 as a part of BSA Hercules India Cyclothon. The ceremony was felicitated by chief minister Prithviraj Chavan & was developed in association with the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

The Majiwade flyover at Thane - one way going towards GB road from Eastren Express highway is supposed to be operational from tomorrow i.e 15th November as per the paper reports but going by the looks the works are still going on. There are till now no signs/boards to indicate the same. Even if everything is ready, its time for the inaguration wars between the political parties.

There is no point in reviving those tracks. That is not a residential area and it will not be used. The revival plan is to swindle money again.

I was just at a meeting in Bkc this afternoon and saw hundreds of government cars parked in the lane. Because the lanes have rubber dividers and the government is paying for repairs for the car, drivers park over the lanes.

I didn't think I'd find parking and didn't want to go sweaty to the meeting so left the car and the cycle at home. Net result, had to walk back from G block to Bandra Reclamation as in the peak evening rush, any form of public transport is impossible.

In any other country, a central business district would have been well planned with maybe a monorail, or frequent shuttle bus or well laid pavements. But in Bombay, any development means building infrastructure stops at just the building. Outside the gates, it's no one's problem.
