any idea if mysore road is infested with them i know about the reports around kengeri etc because friends and me were planning a trip to the ccd there.
There will be an interceptor on the Kengeri lake bund, just before you enter Kengeri. I think the speed limit at that place is 50kmph. Funny thing is, I haven't seen any boards indicating speed limit in that place. After Kengeri, no need to worry except for some unmarked humps

Not true my friend..there is a speed limit board on mysore road in the area being discussed. In fact i saved 300 bucks by reading that board!! I was trying to locate the speed limit board (its like story board) and was cruising and voila...the interceptor!!
So, its a permanent fixture there.

Am sure the speed limit at this place is more than 50kmph. Whenever I am near this spot I slow down to about 70-75kmph.

But one thing I've noticed is that every time I am on this road the cops are always there in the evening.

Inner Ring Road is monitored : typically between Ejipura signal & Dell, as you take the sweeping left curve (before the cut in the middle).

The cops seem to favour sweeping wide curves.

In a few states in the US cops generally allow people an additional 10 miles over the speed limit, I guess its asking too much for even +10kmh here...

Can we have an SMS alert system?

For members of Team-BHP and a subscription based, can we have city specific alert created so that any member spotting an interceptor can SMS other members to warn or inform that on a particular day at a spot these guys are 'gunning' down motorists?

The idea is to be cautious and avoiding 'over' speeding.

We won't be breaking the law if we warn our friends/fellow motorists, right?

Isnt it much easier just following the speed limit?

Getting fined Rs.300/- for going above 60kmph, not zipping at 120+ or so! Exceeding 60 is something almost everyone would do, I guess. Atleast on my Sierra it is 'unhealthy' for the car to stay at 60 in fourth gear.

Not that I am a habitual law breaker

No offenses meant but one need not be an habitual law breaker to commit an offense. As per various research done ( UK Dep of Road Transport primarily), there is over 80% chances of survival of a person hit by a vehicle at 40KMPH compared to only 10% chance of survival if hit by vehicle over 64 KMPH. Whether its homicide or man slaughter, its still a precious life lost.

Most people in India give two hoots to abiding by the law but when the same person driving abroad will go out of the way to make sure that they stay well within legal limits to avoid any sort of disqualification.

Shouldn't there be a single standard???

Sorry for the rant. I once was fined on the Devnahalli Expressway and since then I have made sure that I stick to the speed limit. I guess the adage "Spare The Rod & Spoil the Child" still holds good.

Hosur Road also? I thought that road does not need a speed gun at all, as you cannot go beyond 40kmph in that road, given the traffic conditions.

BTW, another question, will this speed limit of 60kmph apply on the upcoming elevated expressway also?? :

You can drive a speed of 80-100KM in this road now As they have laid the road properly.
I dont think so that the fly over will be having that low speed limit, Min will be 60. And may have 2 lane with 60/80 Limit. But again who care about the limit ? You may see a Auto driving @ 40 in the right most lane
