An update:

The ORR from Medchal (Exit-6) to Patancheru (Exit-3) has started issuing toll from today morning.

Rs. 20 is what they are charging.

Re: Hyderabad: Updates on traffic - diversions, road expansions, alternate routes, et

RGIA, the Hyderabad Airport, will soon start charging money from all vehicles who come through the arrival terminal to pick up incoming passengers unless they manage to do so in less than 3 minutes which as per me is near impossible.

Re: Hyderabad: Updates on traffic - diversions, road expansions, alternate routes, et

If HMDA has its way, even the drive to airport via PVNR expressway may be charged. Toll booths are planned on this stretch as it seems the HMDA is facing a severe cash crunch. Bad days ahead for motorists travelling to airport.

Thats interesting ,happened to me yesterday evening when i went to pick up my mom from the airport ,before getting into the arrivval section a security guard handed over a receipt which read inr 1/- and asked me to give it to the security person on exit.

Did that and was asked not to pay anything

Even when I went to pick up someone 3 weeks ago, I was given a slip that showed the time. On asking the security guy told me that max 3 minutes are allowed. Luckily, I zoomed out in a minute, as my passenger was already waiting.

By the way, can't we park from free in Decathlon, in case one needs to wait for around 10 to 15 minutes?

Does this mean that they are going to stop issuing fines by instead charging for time spent at the arrivals?

If they start charging a per-minute rate, you can expect to see more vehicles circling around the roundabouts or U-turns on the roads leading to the airport. Petrol price will soon seem like nothing when compared to the charges for time spent there.
Even right now, there are vehicles that travel at about 20 km/hr (which is the legal speed limit on some of those roads, though vehicles travel at over 80 km/hr) in the slow lane if they are waiting for passengers to arrive.

Dear Friends,

An urgent help required. I need to drop my wife at Kacheguda Railway station tomorrow at 4 pm. Journey start from Hitec city.

The major issue being that tomorrow is one of the main days for Ganesh Visarjan and Hyderabad Police has issues directives on traffic diversions. The update from the Police Dept is as detailed in this link http://hyderabadpolice.gov.in/Main/PressRelease.htm

How should I go ? MMTS is ruled out as we have some luggage and the timings are not condusive to some other work that I have to complete enroute in Jubilee Hills.

I did not go through the press release but I think the best way to go about it would be to hire a cab from Jubilee Hills or you could park your car in GVK One and take a cab from there. Taxi operators are well aware of restrictions and real time traffic conditions.

Thanks Buddy. Nikhil has told me a different route which goes around Osmania University, Tarnaka, Ramanthpur and reach the back gate of the Railway Station. I hope that route wouldn't be much of a problem.

Expect dense traffic and plan accordingly. As you know, if a single thoroughfare is blocked in Hyderabad, the cascading effect can be felt on many roads.

Edit: Just checked the notification and found that even the alternative route you posted will be blocked.

The route proposed by Traveloholic as I can understand from Autotranny's post seems to be HiTec - Jubilee Hills - Begumpet - Mettuguda - Tarnaka (turn right below flyover) - Osmania University - (turn left to) Shivam Road - Amberpet - (turn right to Golnaka Road) - Kacheguda Railway Station (other side).

http://goo.gl/maps/QQLpV

Should take at least 1:30 hours or even a bit more. Hitec - Tarnaka = 1 hour while Tarnaka - Kacheguda = 30 min or a bit more. The only tricky area as I can understand from the Police Order is the Tilak Nagar X Road in Amberpet because all Amberpet side idols need to use Tilak Nagar Road and then the underbridge to cross the railway line to the other side at Fever Hospital to go towards the lake.

Autotranny can keep a two hours margin to reach and if early, spend some time in eating nice dosa at the stall on Platform No. 1.

Bajaj Saab, my route was to proceed ahead till Uppal X Roads and then merge with the on going traffic towards 6 Number Junction, so that the Idols would turn right towards Tilak Nagar and Autotranny can proceed ahead towards Golnaka and Kachiguda Station Rear Entrance. OU-Shivam Road needs to be avoided due to the reasons, explained below.

The Idols would not be allowed towards Fever Hospital as the road is still under construction. Hence, all idols would proceed towards Shivam Road, Reach Osmania University/Vidya Nagar Road, DD Colony and then take a right from Andhra Mahilasabha to join the other idols on the RTC X Roads main road. This was the main reason, why I opposed taking the Osmania University - Shivam Road as this would not be a viable option.

Re: Hyderabad: Updates on traffic - diversions, road expansions, alternate routes, et

I'm back. The trip was a breeze. I followed the route suggested by Hyd_Traveller. To my utmost surprise there was absolutely no traffic. It was like driving on a Public Holiday. Started off from Hitec at 13:55 and reached Kacheguda at 15.15. Faster than I normally reach on the main route.

While returning the road to OU (Shivam Road) was blocked, so I had to take the Ramanthapur - Uppal Road and come back to Tarnaka. Though slightly longer, I enjoyed it since I got to see the various processions taking the Ganesh. (By the way : It was my first time).

Started from Kacheguda at 16:50 and by 17:30 I was already nearing Paradise Junction. Then on it started pouring like crazy and it took me another 1.5 hours to reach my office in HITEC. On the way I saw a 3 series Beamer stranded between Almond House and Harley showroom on Road No 2 and another E Series stranded near Madhapur Signal in waist deep water. I have never seen water rising so rapidly in Hyderabad.

Re: Hyderabad: Updates on traffic - diversions, road expansions, alternate routes, et

Today morning, it took me 40 minutes from my home (Himayathnagar) to Lakdikapul via. Hyderguda as it was completely bumper to bumper due to incomplete Ganesh Visarjan yesterday due to heavy rains and people continue the process of Visarjan that is expected to go on even till late evening today.

For a momemnt, I thought of turning back and WFH but, had some important meetings which made me strike out that idea.
