Lets wait and watch!
Even though origin is thailand, transaction is done in USD as that's international curreny in which trading occurs.
I got to know that USD will not impact them much. Its GBP rise which impacts. This is leading to a doubt whether they will import CKD kits from thailand or hinckley?

I think they have been talking the Thailand story for most models that they plan to launch here and Hinckley for I guess 2 top end models.

Found these two well made videos on youtube, by Powerdrift-

Don't know for sure where it has been shot, looks like a full fledged ready-to-serve showroom! They are being secretive about the location and say will reveal it 'soon'. Any idea about the location, anyone?

Not India. This is the Triumph Dealership in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. NL-62 registration numbers are for N-o-T, GB. And guess what the search for the only Triumph dealership there showed up. Same tiles and blue door frames.

Nice try, Powerdrift.

re: Triumph motorcycles to enter India. Edit: Now Launched Pg. 48

When triumph had announced the price for Boneville of Rs 5.5 lacs at the 2012 auto expo, the 883 Superlow was available in the market for the same price (both are similar models, 800 odd cc and 67 hp). Now the price of Superlow is 5.71 lacs ex-sh Delhi. So the price of Boneville should be around that figure.

Also since the street triple was priced at about 5 % above the Boneville price, it should be about 6 lacs now.

And triumph has the advantage of lower ckd duties for Thailand (if they go through that route) and lower transportation costs than the harley. Also the import duties for CKD kits has come down since the expo.

Hope for the best.

Good calculation. I hope triumph lauch some where near the guideline prices.

The ministry's move on CKD kits, aimed at promoting domestic production of such components, has led to import duty on some components rising to 30%, from 10% earlier

In Union Budget 2011-12, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee introduced a new definition regarding CKD kits imports that excluded pre-assembled engine, gear box, transmission and chassis from its purview.

This resulted in increased customs duty to 60 per cent for these critical components. It was later revised to 30 per cent.

IMO increase in duty is not applicable for kits imported from Thailand.

I think you are right. I remember seeing something about a trade agreement between India and Thailand to this effect.

My only hope is that the bikes are NOT out of reach :( else I'd have to go the "cruiser" way!

DNA had a chat with Vimal Sumbly, who recently took charge as MD of Triumph Motorcycles (India). Click here for more details.

More assuring news. However nothing that we do not know of. But it's good to know that things are rumbling in the right direction.

Good find DJ!

True. He has stressed on CKD multiple times, when it was not much necessary to mention it. I think they consider the pricing to be most important, and rightly so.

True shubz. But now we have more trouble with currency fluctuations.
Probably recently appointed RBI governor may work towards stabilizing rupee
