If your are buying Kestrel DAS 6 DA Polisher 500 watts one, it costs you Rs 8600/- at shop your world. Why would you pay Rs 13500/- for the same?

As per my experience, Kestrel 500 watts one is very similar to Meguiars 220, its just little heavier, and build quality of Megs is better. Otherwise both works same way. Very much capable of removing swirls.

re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

Whoa!! 16-17 k is a bit too much I guess!! :(

I don't want the DAS-6 as I have a equally powerful dewalt DA at hand! :(

(I was under the impression that we could somehow get DAS-6 PRO for ~12-14k)

I guess, I'll have to wait! :(

@santhoshs - No Idea about customs(but should be ~ 3k or something for the DAS-6 PRO, not sure!) They charge what they feel like charging!

Sometimes custom ppl often ask for bribes so that they release the item from customs without you paying the actual customs charges!(what is custom duty for anyway?? Its not like we get DApolishers here and we are harming the domestic industry!?? )

We can import it and bring it to India, but we'll have to pay customs when the item is delivered to one's home address.(if going through Aramex, all others have all inclusive prices(17k and stuff!)

Import through Aramex shop and Ship, they will handle customs duty. Duty will be 27% for auto accessories, shipping charge is 10$ for first 500gm and 8$ for every additional 500 Gm. they will charge a brokerage of 100 Rs for clearing the item through customs.
It is the most hassle free and cheap way to import.

Thanks a lot, sharath.

The site indeed has clarified many a things about polishers.

I think buying a chinese one was not the right thing to do.

But still, even Hitachi and Dewalt polishers were available.

What do you say about these?

As far as i know you wont get Dewalt DA polisher for 4k, but around 10k. The polishers available for 4k are Rotary type. Sohail can throw more light on Dewalt pricing.

I am still working on my Aramex account, did any one try to get a quote or estimation thru them as to how much it will cost to get the DAS 6 Pro from any of the mentioned websites?

re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

^^Aramex will not provide any quotation. Buy from any online site, pay using Paypal, get it delivered to Aramex US or UK address, they will forward it to your Indian address. They will pay Customs duty on your behalf (rate depends on item). You need to pay the duty and shipping charge at the time of delivery of your item.
I've imported several items in this way.
For auto accessories duty is 27% of assessable value. Shipping charge is 10$ for first 500gm and 8$ for additional 500gm. So, calculate charges yourself .

re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

@Shamanth - Dewalt has different DA's available.

The cheaper ones are fixed speed ones(costing ~3-4k)
DeWalt DW443 costs approx 9-10k (but it vibrates a lot and makes hell lot of noise!!)
(Hands pain after a detail and neighbors eye me all the time! lol)

Though results on paint are impressive, but I'm not sure whether or not your hand will agree in operating it longterm!

-----------------------------

btw Good News all ppl in Delhi and Gurgaon!

Reliance Autozone is now selling Jopasu Duster, jopasu duster combo packs and magic wipes and stuff! I was kinda taken aback when I actually saw jopasu dusters stacked there!

Had one interaction with the chennai contact, was thoroughly disgusted with the conversation, but that maybe just because i expected a level of service that is on par with the price. Flex DA was told to be about 30K, price mentioned in the catalogue is 322- i guess that is Euros? That comes to 21k. Wish someone can call and see if they get a proper reply
