IMO discounts are just to keep the customer with the rather than loosing it some other manufacturer.

How much hefty discounts are you being offered btw?

When I was buying the ZDi in December lat year, there was a waiting for 3-4 days IIRC. Same situation when dad was buying the Ertiga.

Just check the VIN of the car allotted to you and then take the decision. PM me in case you have any doubts / issues.

But I am not sure if this will happen any time soon.Discount and exchange bonus on the current version comes around 40K in total, facelift might have at least 10-20K increase in price! hard decision if you ask me. Go for the current version as there is no update regarding the launch date.

the discounts are average @20k.
what i really want is not to end up with an old model if the facelifted one is round the corner.
and reg vin no; why have you asked me to check it diligently..any issues with maruthi dumping older models on customers ?
As soon as i book the car, i will share the vin with you.I want to make sure of it after so many horror stories here in our forum itself. Even BMW customers in the state got into soup with the dealer forging records.The case is all over news..

Please do book it and share the VIN. There is no instance as such of dealers dumping older vehicles but just a precaution from our side to prevent any sour moments.

20K discounts decent enough for the ZDi. No worries. BTW, which colour are you booking?

I like grey metalic whereas my uncle and others says white as all our other cars are white..

Glistening Grey (GG) is a classy colour, my VXI was of this colour. My VDI is pearl arctic white(PAW). I like them both, there are more white cars on road than any colour, GG is more exclusive.
Few observations:

1. Light dust and dirt shows up less on GG compared to white.
2. Light scratch marks (for eg: near the door open handle) was slightly more prominent on GG compared to PAW.
3. Scratches on bumper which shows up as black (plastic beneath) are more visible on PAW than GG as the latter has less contrast between black and grey.
4. When parked in the sun my PAW VDI heats up less compared to my old GG VXI. This was a very noticeable change.
5. When cleaned and waxed GG looks better than PAW.
6. During dusk and dawn there is a vast difference in visibility between GG and PAW, white obviously wins when it comes to visibility in low light conditions (safety aspect).

Brilliant compilation of the problems faced by we car lovers.

Though all of the above points mentioned are the issues faced by me too with my Torque Blue ZDi. Just have to replace the GG with my TB.

Great observation.
I am in two minds really. I feel like waiting for the facelifted swift as the pictures online some how makes the car look cuter.
And the wait is hardly 30 days as the car is expected to be launched in july itself.
Any information you have on the facelifted swift sankar ?

What is the delivery time for the current model? I suggest you book a car and tell them you'll take the facelifted version ONLY. This way you can ensure you get the car from the first lot itself. If you wait till then, you might be pushed back to the queue.

Update on Transmission Fluid replacement Interval:

Not sure if someone has posted this in any of the other threads but MSIL has now confirmed Transmission Oil change interval from 20000 kms earlier to 40000 kms from now for all DDiS vehicles (Swift, Ritz, Dzire, SX4, Ertiga).

The Dealer workshop did not replace the transmission oil during the 20k Service of my Ertiga and quoted the above reason.

I suggest you wait for the facelift if there is no urgent requirement for a new car. My guess is that the wait shouldn't take longer than 2 - 3 months max!

I have a meeting with the Marketing Manager this week. Based on whatever i have seen, the face lifted version appears to have a smarter look than the existing one.

I took a test drive of the swift zdi recently and was left disappointed. I liked the power and the nimbleness, however, the suspension was crashing all over. There was a loud clang every time I passed over a bad patch of road.
Second observation was the mileage on the MID of the test car. It showed a poor 4.3km/l. Would it go down that low, even for a test car?

This was just my opinion of the test drive vehicle, but it did leave an impression on me and my family.

4.3 kmpl is too low, hope the MID was not set at the instantaneous FE display or was it set at Average FE?

Any idea what was the odometer reading for the test car?

Its most likely a case where the average FE would have been reset and the car driven less than 20 kms after that. Whenever I refill a full tank, I reset the Trip for my reference and as well reset the Average FE as well. You drive normal style for hardly 10 kms and the average will be shown on the lower side as the ECU will give a near perfect reading only after it is able to measure from a good sample of your driving.

Also, have seen cases where the stockyard cars driven less than 30 on the ODO also have average FE displayed on a very lower side.

Constant Idling for longer duration soon after resetting the average FE/ reconnecting the battery is also another reason for displaying such low numbers on MID.

The least I have seen after someone driving it over a long distance and spiritedly is anything between 10-12kmpl.
