are not able to follow that. someone will say that their service centres are deep rooted, but today cars are way more reliable and need visiting service centre some 10-15k kms or so.
The service centers does matter - we have atleast 3 Maruti dealerships + service centers within a 7-8km radius. It is so much easier if one needs any kind of repair - atleast I prefer to go to authorized service centre even for minor tasks like changing wiper.

This also came out with poor experience I had with GM: they used to have a service centre near my place which got shutdown, and options were limited to far-off places.

Anyway it can be redressed to some extent by using the pickup & drop facility for the annual/semi-annual service.

re: Review: 2nd-gen Maruti Swift (2011 - 2017)

I think total engine breakdown is the last thing on anyone's mind while choosing a car. It's for small things, like minor repairs or inspection that we need a service close at hand. For example, there was a very minor irritant with my Hyundai and when I was passing that side casually mentioned it to the SA. He fixed it in a snap, without any fuss, delay or charge. Would dread to think of VW, Ford, GM or Tata rising to the occasion.

Re: PICS : Tastefully Modified Cars in India

I don't know if it's a limited edition or a mod but either way it is very tastefully done. Just the right amount of colour addition at the right places.

This is the limited version of Swift called RS. It comes with some skirts, decals and a blue rear spoiler externally. Frankly, I have seen quite a few of these on road compared to any other limited Maruti versions.

Swift 2014 owner's manual:

Till now, Maruti had old generation Swift (pre 2011) manual on their website.

re: Review: 2nd-gen Maruti Swift (2011 - 2017)

Have a quick question hoping someone can help me here..
I have a new Swift ZDI/2mths/2000km. This weekend, during a trip to Matheran, I parked the car at Neral for 24 hours. Unfortunately, I kept the parking lights on for this time and the battery was drained by the time I got back. I managed to get some help from the local taxi guys and got a jump start (for a whopping 700/-). After this the car ran for around a 100 km straight back to Mumbai. Will the battery run as usual from here on or I need to get this checked again? Someone suggested to get the water checked once and add distilled water. Can I do this at home?

Not an issue at all AFAIK.

Just keep using the car regularly for few days so that the battery gets recharged during the engine running.

Does cranking the engine take longer time than usual now a days? If yes, do get it checked else there is nothing much to worry.

Though you can do this at home, suggest you take it to a nearby battery guy and get it checked. Shouldn't cost you much. Else, you can also take it to the A*S*S and get it checked and they may do it for free.

Even some good purified / mineral water can do the job. But for a brand new car, it's NOT even required. If you do regular service, they will check and top up if required.

No. The mineral is the problem.

Use only mineral free water. Distilled water is best.

re: Review: 2nd-gen Maruti Swift (2011 - 2017)

A friend noticed white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe of his 2014 9000KM done Swift Diesel couple of days ago, there's also hesitation while accelerating as per him. The service center suspects fuel injector problem and he is taking the car in for diagnosis.

re: Review: 2nd-gen Maruti Swift (2011 - 2017)

I received a call from Maruti service centre regarding the usual servicing of my car. They told about a home servicing facility, where they offer servicing of cars at home/office location itself by personnel, free of cost.

I would like to know if anyone else has availed this facility, and it indeed offers servicing same as the one in workshops? (The receptionist claimed it is the same) I understand taking a day out is a pain, but would not mind sparing time for a haul unless home servicing is equally good.

Thanks,
Akshay

Its de-mineral water or mineral-free water as 'civic-sense' suggested. Costs about 10-15 bucks per liter at most battery shops.

I use the car only on weekends as of now. So, will try to start it and keep it on idle for a few minutes. Will that help?

I did stop a couple of times at the end of the trip and staring the car again was not a problem. So I guess i'm good for now.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Not a problem at all of the car responded normally after the stops you had by the end of the trip.

You can idle the car for a minute or so but actually it is not needed if you'll use the car every weekend.
