As far as i know there is no specific FSA for this, Go and report this issue to the ASC, and ask for software update. It should be free of cost. but some ASC does charge (~200/- INR) for this, but you can raise your concern and get it FOC, from my experience im saying this.

Hi,

I had this problem some time last year. Got my software upgraded from Ford ASC. I don't think the software upgrade takes too much time. In my case, it took around 20 mins. (The upgrade wasn't available at my usual ASC, so they had to take it to another Ford Service Centre in town.) If I remember correctly, I think I spent around an hour at Ford Service. It was done FOC (my Figo was under warranty). Haven't faced the stalling issue since. Hope this helps.

The sales guys told me at that point that the extended warranty form in the user manual booklet needs to be shown at the dealership before the end of 2yrs to start the 3rd yr warranty. Upon recently checking at another dealership Elite Ford to confirm this, they told me that its all online now and my for my car there is no record of 3rd EW and neither the registration form guarantees 3rd yr warranty. He also told me to follow this up asap since Ford wont give EW after 31st Jan.

Now I am in bit of dilemma. I am following up with Lathangi ford and they are asking for any proof of the same since the sales guy doesnt work there any more. Has anyone undergone this experience? any inputs?
I don't think it works like this. When I bought mine in Sept 2012, they too offered me a free 3yr EW. I was told that it will be immediately added in database and within a month I'll be sent a letter. And promptly, I got the letter also.

I guess, better take atleast a new 3 yr EW. Regarding 4 yr EW, it'll be an additional 9.6k - so you may have to shell out close to 15k for both!!

I am not sure whether they will honor without any written doc. This is based on a laborious experience I had gone with my Maruti 3rd year warranty.
For any claims during EW, I don't think the letter is needed as they have it on their database.

What if waht I signed up for was very basic stuff and not even close to comprehensive?
When I went to get the 4yr EW at Chennai Ford, the lady first gave me a quotation, then took the money, gave a bill and within 15 min gave me a certificate of 4 yr EW by Ford India. Its all online now. Don't know why certificate should take time till end of Feb.

On the question of 3rd and 4th year warranty being discontinued, Chennai Ford had a different explanation for me. It appears that it is only the top-up option for existing customers that is getting withdrawn. For all new purchases was told that Ford has decided to offer 4 years warranty by default!

re: Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)

Guys, I need your help on my Figo. I drive a 2010 EXI model. I have a strange problem. My Figo has clocked only 12500kms including trips to Leh and Kutch. Whenever I drive at high speed 120kmph+ (Thanks to the roads) , the AC would just break down after 2 hours. I thought its cuz of high RPM.

So, during my recent trip to Bangalore, I drove at 100kmph or below for 2 hours and yet faced the same problem. The AC just died. The amount of air and coldness of the air, both go down drastically. Anyone faced similar issue? 3 different Ford service centers across 4 servicing have certified the AC functioning. I am clueless. Any advice would help :(

You are right. In my case the sales guy took me for a ride and for some reason I didnt follow up either, only to realise now. Anyways I went ahead and bought extended warranty for 3rd and 4th yr together. It costed me 13.6K total. Individually they are about 7.5K and 9.5K.

I have heard different explanations from different dealers so not sure what the truth is. Elite Ford in bangalore told me that there are no renewals after 31st jan as per Ford. Lathangi FOrd tells me that there will be price revision from Feb onwards. In any case i went ahead and renewed on 31st Jan to avoid any surprise.

I bought the 3rd and 4th year extended warranty for my petrol Figo on Saturday. Cost me 8.8k. Initially the sales guy told me that extended warranty is being discontinued hence I should take one asap. I didn't argue with him about this as I anyways intended on getting extended warranty.

re: Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)

Noticed that the new Figo petrols now come with twin muffler exhaust system.

The earlier ones had a cat con and then a muffler behind the rear axle. It had a nice exhaust hum at a certain rpm because of this.
The new ones have a cat con, a small intermediate muffler and then the usual one at the end. Quite sure, there is exhaust note at all now.

I bought my 4th year extended warranty from Elite Ford Bangalore for the same price. I was told that, if you buy it at the time of buying the car, it would be the cheapest!!

I suspect the evaporator coils under your dashboard are icing up - this is known to reduce the cooling and airflow volume, since the ice restricts the movement of air sent by the blower.

A way of identifying this is to see if there's a large pool of water beneath your AC drain pipe after your car experiences this issue and has been parked for a while.

Try turning off your AC compressor (or turning the blue-red knob towards a warmer setting) every 30-45 mins for about 5-10 mins and see if the problem persists. This technique prevents the ice forming to a very thick and solid layer.

Looks like that is the reason. I will check it on my next drive. Thanks a ton for the awesome diagnosis. Is it a common problem? How to get rid of this other than shuffling between temperatures?

This is quite a common problem, especially as we have moderate to high humidity levels in India, which helps in ice formation that much quicker.

You can also get an AC technician to check the expansion valve to see if it is sticking or not working well.

One person whom I know to be a good AC technician is Thobias, in Bangalore, who is reachable at 94486 72387. Basically, you come from MG Road towards Garuda mall, and continue driving towards Lifestyle. Halfway between Garuda and Lifestyle, there's a road that goes to the right... which will take you to St. Patricks Church on Brigade/Hosur Road. Take that right, and this AC shop is about 100 metres in, on your left.

I'm not affiliated with them or their services, just that I've received good feedback about their work, and have used them once for my Getz.

Folks, Is there a way to reject a call through the HU of the Figo. There is one button, but I think it can be used to only accept calls.

re: Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)

Being fed up of the Brake Slider Pin/Brake Caliper Rattling noise over rough patches of road, I decided to grease it myself. Went through some youtube videos to get an idea of the job. Searched few Auto Parts stores, but was unable to find recommended synthetic/silicone grease. Decided to use Balmerol Heavy duty wheel bearing grease. The grease is somewhat reddish in color. The container claimed it to be suitable to use at very high temperatures and for use in extreme conditions.

Finished greasing four calipers of front two wheels in an hour. Now the ride is super silent even over pot holes and rough patches. Also, I felt slight change/improvement in pedal action and bite. I hope this DIY would be effective for long term. Fingers crossed.
