A friend overhauled the Ford ikon ac; as you know, overhaul in ford parlance is complete replacement of all parts. Bill came around 40k.

This was in 2011 when ikon was in production, so now it might cost much more.

ps: as always, an unrelated post, but the facts might help someone

Cumulative costs. AC repairs were never permanent. Every service there was a problem.
There was an ikon too briefly but that did not have an AC problem.

How does one change the battery of the remote key?
What specifications are the batteries?
Or should I go to ASS for this too?

3v Lithium CR2032.

You can change it with the help of a flat head screw driver. No reprogramming etc needed.

URGENT: help needed

I was driving to Mysore when I had to brake suddenly in Mandya town. A Swift rear-ended my Figo.

I checked the damage (some damage to hatch door, the bumper was back to original shape) and continued to drive, came home a few hours ago.

Now the hatchdoor is not closing , it even gave trouble while opening..

I had planned to go back to hyderabad tomorrow but looks like that is not going to happen.

The hatch door is dented from outside but inner surface is not shwing any damage - there may be some stresses bending it but it is not visible.

The base of the boot on the other hand is obviously bent-in (the bumper ends are protruding out about 1cm each side of the car) and it is also bent-up.

People with experience - kindly tell me what are my options:
  1. Does Mysore have a Ford Bodyshop? I couldn't inquire today thanks to Sunday.
  2. Assuming Ford does have a showroom - does it make sense to get the work done outside Ford? Unless the bill crosses Rs. 10000, I'm not planning to claim insurance - with the deductibles and NCB loss it isn't worth the trouble
    1. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good body shop in Mysore?

with the hatch door not closing I can't drive back to Hyderabad, otherwise I was planning to get the bodywork done over there.

Yup even a local electric shop should have it.

.

Sorry about the accident, can you post a picture of the boot, rear bumper.
Ford does have a service, body shop in Mysore.

Based on your description I assume the rear hatch lock must be broken. Take the car to ford A.S.S Ask them to fix this lock (it should not take more than 1-2 hours) then drive back home and get the car fixed up.
A picture would help estimate the damage.

re: Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)

I am wondering, will ford put their 1.6 ltr. 100 bhp petrol engine inside figo ever ? With the kind of handling and dynamics figo offers, putting together this engine will make figo the best enthusiast's hatch south of 10 lacs.

It has been discussed , dreamt of and long forgotten in this very thread since Ford would never sell it here. The export Figo's, I think had a bigger engine than the 1.2 petrol sold here. Not sure if it was the 1.6.

I instead now have a wild idea of plonking a used 1.6 engine in my Figo.
Anyway , when the new Figo is launched, whenever that is, in all probability will have the 1 litre turbo petrol.

re: Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)

Has anyone updated the HU in their Figo?

I have always been happy with the OEM audio setup, but lately I have been facing issues with the USB play option. I have a Macbook at home and some of the songs transferred from my laptop does not play with USB. The S.A at Ford are asking not to put the songs in Folders but to keep all the songs in the home location. I am not particularly fond of this option and I don't understand the logic behind this.

Is this because of the Macbook or is it an issue with Figo HU?

Are the songs in itunes format ? The Figo HU does not read this format (.m4a). Convert the songs to mp3 and it should play fine.

The songs are in mp3 format. The issue is not with all the songs but with a selected few. There are no common factors between the songs due to which I am not able to come to a logical conclusion.

Did you try placing them directly in the root directory of the pen drive? Just check if that works. If not, the first suspect would be the audio bitrate if the files are mp3.

Ok. Let me give that a try. Thanks.

Is a HU upgrade advisable for Figo? If so, what is the best possible option. I do not want a integrated navigation system with the HU.
