Do certainly get in touch as it is always lovely to discuss Vintage and classic cars with an avid enthusiast like you.

Found this parked on the roadside today with a "For Sale" board on it, left open for anyone to inspect. So we inspected it - please excuse the bad picture quality as HTC is not really known for the quality of the cameras on their phones (also this is probably the first time I've used it seriously):

Sir could we have the price. Me seems to be interested.

Looks yummy, but only till the price is known.

Though the tail lights looks very much from a VW Beetle 1966.

I would dare to say that this car is in Dubai, may have been brought there for some reason by a Brit. She is RHD, so eligible for a TR to India after being owned by the importer for how many months/years ? The car if cheap (a relative word, as we have seen) would be a good project. The tail light is original, resembles Beetle, Morris Minor (ofcourse only some models!) Is there any story?

Of course the car is in Dubai.

It is RHD (and therefore not registered here) and an import.

The price is Dhs.15k (Rs.1.9 lakhs), negotiable.

Question is, how do you get this across to India? You cant prove ownership for 2 years in DXB as you cannot register it here! The Bill of Lading is over 3 years old, though.

The car is owned by an Indian (who was born/brought up here and has no real connection in India except his passport from the Indian Consulate), he's game to send it across if you're willing to get it cleared.

As in he will pay the transport fee? Looks interesting. What will be the cost of shipping this to India?

Nope. Why would he do that?

SHipping is not the issue - a 40" container to Bombay costs $600, probably less in these troubled times.

Besides that there are other quesitons. This car cant be 1956 because the MkII came out in 1960 or 1961 and this looks more like a MkII than an MkI (I could be wrong because I'm not expert in these matters).

Thus the only issue would be as to how a car more than 3 years old could be allowed on import into India, even if RHD.

whoever tries to import it without the necessary 'connections' will have his pocket burned!!! It will be a real tough job trying to get it through our ports

Why not, if under transfer of residence?

True, TR is the way to get it, there is currently no other option.

I did hear of a somewhat similar Jag in the South which was brought in as machinery for college students to train on! Cutting edge technology indeed for their education
