Re: Jeeps/Gypsy's: All through Army Auctions: What, When, Where, How?

All the best Jerrycan and keep us all updated. Having been there / done that I can relate to you very well. Feel free to drop me a mail on dr dot abheek @ gmail dot com if you want any help. I may also be interested in an mpfi gypsy if you can find me one which on inspection is in a good shape.

Thanks for the Mobile No. Since you are looking at auctions I would like to request you to let me know if there is MPFI Gypsy or NGCS MM550 available. I am willing to pool in if its ok with you because I can't afford to pick up a full LOT. I will call you in this regard.

Good Luck in your pursuit.

Re: Jeeps/Gypsy's: All through Army Auctions: What, When, Where, How?

Thank you Dr Ghosh, will surely keep you updated on today's bidding at Bathinda and Bengdupi. There are several MPFI Gypsies in Bathinda, but did not inspect any. I had just enough time to look at around 92 550's of which only 7 were NGCS. Moreover, the Gypsies are in mixed lot of MPFI and non MPFI. I will mail you the details as and when i come across good lots.

@ JEEP HYDE
Yes. I will do that. If you refer the auction catalogues attached in my previous posts, you can find many MPFI and NGCS models. I would suggest you to decide between a gypsy and a 550 before you pool in with some body. Watch this thread, I will post the bid details within a day or two.

Thanks Jerrycan. My first choice is MPFI Gypsy.

Re: Jeeps/Gypsy's: All through Army Auctions: What, When, Where, How?

Dear Gurus

I have a doubt , If the Indian Army is supposed to send a 7year old vehicle for auction then how come we are still getting Cj3b's on auction??
I even saw availability of few cj3b in a recent auction @ avadi on Dec 26th
( if i am not wrong)

Re: Jeeps/Gypsy's: All through Army Auctions: What, When, Where, How?

AFAIK, Indian Army Disposes vehicles based on Mileage and vintage. If you note the markings on any Defence Vehicle, in addition to the BA (Broad Arrow) number. the class of Vehicle will always be marked in White.
The first 2 digits immediately after the alphabets BA denote the year in which the vehicle was put into service. Usually this is mistaken for the year of manufacture.
CLASS I denotes that the Mileage covered is between 0 Km to 20,000 Km,
CLASS II is between 20,000 kms to 60,000 Kms,
CLASS III is upto 1,20,000 Kms and so on.
These vehicles can only be disposed after the complete 10 years of Service and should have covered not less than 1,20,000 Kms.
Vehicles less than 10 years old or those which have covered less than 1,20,000 kms, which are considered to be beyond economical Repair or unreliable for defence service will be disposed much earlier.
Gurus, correct me if I'am wrong

Re: Jeeps/Gypsy's: All through Army Auctions: What, When, Where, How?

Is there any difference between the Army version MPFI Gypsy and the Civilian MPFI Gypsy? If yes, what is the difference?

Re: Jeeps/Gypsy's: All through Army Auctions: What, When, Where, How?

@abheekg
Sir, I had bid for NGCS Jeeps, My bid status is "subject to approval". Keeping my fingers crossed. My final bid was 3,43,201.00 for 3 Jeeps of which one is an NGCS.
I am based in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. I have lifted vehicles from Avadi in Chennai to as far as Akhnoor, Rajouri both in Jammu & Kashmir. These depots are controlled by Northern Command Vehicle Depot based in Udhampur, J&K.
As for the Gypsy, I will let you know soon as I come across a good lot.

Re: Jeeps/Gypsy's: All through Army Auctions: What, When, Where, How?

@abheekg, @jeepHyde, @cloudchaser
The lots are mixed with both MPFI and Non MPFI Gypsies. So unless some one pools in to pick the Non MPFI ones, the project will not be viable. If i come across lots containing MPFI only, I'll post the same here.
There is another Member who seems to be an MSTC registered dealer from Mumbai. Please also get in touch with him. There are few Gypsies up on auction at Kirkee Pune, I'am not sure if they are MPFI though.

@ abheekg
I was not lucky enough to get the NGCS jeep. Next auction probably.

Best Regards

Thanks for the info Jerrycan. I hope we all find what we are looking for and soon.
Its just that I am without a drive at the moment and training myself not to get desparate. I have seen a couple of MPFI at the local dealers, the asking price is way over my budget.

Regards...
