Re: Jeeps/Gypsy's: All through Army Auctions: What, When, Where, How?

Thanks scropiobharath, for me it would be mild OTR till I learn the beast (stuff that a bone stock mm550xd can manage without sweating it out). I have a budget of around 2.5L and loads of time to spare. I am looking at the completion around March-Apr 2013.

Yes basic stuff is achievable at 2.5 lacs types. Let me give you a brief break-up of the same
  • Auctioned Vehicle (with paperwork) - 1,00,000
  • Towing charges - 5000
  • Dismantling, Rust Treatment, Welding etc - 15,000/-
  • Tyres - 25,000/-
  • Prepping and painting - 30,000/-
  • Engine Overhauling - 30,000/-
  • Electrical wiring - 20,000/-
  • Seats, Carpets & Interior - 15,000/-
  • RTO Registration to your name + Bribe - 10,000/-
All figures are approximate and just give or take 5,000/- against the costs. . I was planning for the same so did all spadework. Just did not have the time to do a restore. Office plays spoil-sport.

Re: Jeeps/Gypsy's: All through Army Auctions: What, When, Where, How?

Thanks for the breakup bro, I had a similar figure in my head. (1.2 for the vehicle, rest all remained more or less the same.)

My Brio's EMI start from next month, and I am figuring out (read that as pestering home ministers and President) for another Car (Jeep). If things go well, I should be able to get a Jeep by October first week.. (fingers crossed). and slowly the work will start on it one piece at a time.

Is the 2000 model 550, the NGCS version? I know I have been reading this somewhere, but I always confuse myself.

@Jerrycan: How do we inspect the vehicles in Pune? Do we need a gate pass? What is the procedure?

I got to see the lots on 12th. Only 3 of 8 lots are in a good shape. I am planning to pick up one lot from Avadi, the reserve prices have gone up and not many people are lifting vehicles from Avadi. Keeping my fingers crossed.

You may need an authorisation letter and the Mstc ID card of a registered dealer for Entry. I will PM you the details.

The Cost of Auctioned Vehicle, at least in Chennai is 1.5L, Attached herewith is an Email from MSTC regrading my bid. I had bid 200,000.00 for a lot of 2 Jeeps, both 2000 model.

BID Approval Rejection.pdf

It was not even near their reserve price.

In addition to the Bid Price, we have Sales tax and other levies, which add up to another 7.5% of the Bid Value. We also need to tip the people within the Premises. Add another 5K
The paper work will cost at least 30K. This includes Road Tax, Registration charges and Bribe.
You also seem to have forgotten the Insurance. Basic or third party insurance would cost not less than 3.5k

Ownership transfer to your name will be possible only after 6 months from the date of registration by the dealer. If you have bought the vehicle from a dealer outside your home state, you would need to re register in your home state. COST 35K

Re: Jeeps/Gypsy's: All through Army Auctions: What, When, Where, How?

I don't know much about this army auction stuff.
I have heard that all the jeeps auctioned by army are Petrol models, IS IT SO?

If YES do all auction buyers get the engine swapped with isuzu or nissan?
Which one of the two is better and how much it costs?

Please go through the email again. The Email is From admin@mstcecommerce.com. The gmail address is mine and it is in the "To" field.
The Auctioneers have conveyed their decision regarding the status of the auction.
I have put it in PDF format for easy uploading

Here is another attachment SIL1969.pdf informing about the bid being PROVISIONALLY APPROVED and the next attachment REJ1969.pdf informing their decision to reject the bid.
Hope this clears all Doubts

Not all jeeps are petrol models. Most of them are diesel, except for Nissan 1 tonne, Jonga Patrol, CJ3B and a few other models. These models are rare finds and command premium prices.
Gurus will be able to comment better on swapping and the costs . Swapping is not Authorised though.,
