May be the Commandant did not wish to Disclose his official Email Id to the Public. Hence the Gmail ID.
I have to inspect them myself or depute some body from Coimbatore on my Behalf

The Cost of Auctioned Vehicle, at least in Chennai is 1.5L, Attached herewith is an Email from MSTC regrading my bid. I had bid 200,000.00 for a lot of 2 Jeeps, both 2000 model.

Attachment 944149

It was not even near their reserve price.

In addition to the Bid Price, we have Sales tax and other levies, which add up to another 7.5% of the Bid Value. We also need to tip the people within the Premises. Add another 5K
The paper work will cost at least 30K. This includes Road Tax, Registration charges and Bribe.
You also seem to have forgotten the Insurance. Basic or third party insurance would cost not less than 3.5k

Ownership transfer to your name will be possible only after 6 months from the date of registration by the dealer. If you have bought the vehicle from a dealer outside your home state, you would need to re register in your home state. COST 35K
my two bits on the same. this is actually a good bit of information for you. according to my limited knowledge, the sta is only given when you are below but within 5-10 percent of the reserve price. if that happens, mstc goes back to the seller and gives them the option of accepting or rejecting the bid. so once you achieve the sta status, you pretty much add 5-10 percent more and you know the reserve price of the lot. that will help you in other auctions.

Re: Jeeps/Gypsy's: All through Army Auctions: What, When, Where, How?

Finally I won a bid for an year 2006 NGCS along with a 2000 model from Avadi on 26th. Yesterday it was STA, but it has been approved today. I should be able to pick up the vehicles during the second week of August. Prices where much higher than expected.
I plan to restore these jeeps myself along with two other MM540's. I would need a lot of help and guidance from fellow jeepers on this wonderful Forum.

Thank you.A little less may be. But I think the reserve prices are a bit high when compared to the auctions in other parts of India. Participants have jacked up the prices by bidding above the reserve prices consistently. The same lot would have cost me at least 15% lesser in the north. But i would incur a higher transportation charge.

if you don't mind sharing the price of the lot, i would be able to confirm your doubts. however, when it comes to these beauties, nothing would be considered a higher price!

Congratulations Jerrycan,

I was wondering if you want to sell one of the vehicles. I'd be more than happy to provide it a good home & a good restoration

I wouldn't mind selling one, but the cost would be prohibitive. The vehicle cannot be sold without registration, and registration is not possible without restoring the vehicle. Then take into account the cost of re registering in your State. You should be looking for a dealer in your home state. If you are still interested, it's yours.

@ driving always. I have PMed the price of the lot.

Re: Jeeps/Gypsy's: All through Army Auctions: What, When, Where, How?

Took Delivery of the 2006 NGCS and Year 2000 Model on 22nd August 2012. I towed the Vehicles to Coimbatore the same day using a CL 500 Mahindra with a B275 engine. We covered a Distance of Over 500 Kms in 14 Hours
No major missing parts except for Nozzles and Front Drive Shaft. Here are some pictures of the same.
