Some brands come with pre-installed 3M mounting stickers that cannot be reused. You might have to purchase and fix 3M stickers on these devices when reinstalling the cam. Some brands come with antistatic stickers that can be reused. You will have to fix them first on the windshield glass, and fit the device over these stickers. When refixing or reinstalling, you can just peel off the antistatic stickers from the original place and reapply them in the new place without having to remove the 3M stickers on the device.

This the issue I have. The one's I am looking at buying have only the 3M stickers and I am unable to find an easier way to remove these or move them from one car to another.

These antistatic stickers are available separately on sites like Amazon and certain dashcam sites. You can use them during your next fitting. But you'll have to go through the pain of removing the existing stickers. I sprayed glass cleaners around the sticker and used flossing thread to gently "saw away" the sticker from the glass.

Yes, the app is not upto standard. Most of the time it is connection issues and even if it is connected doesnt stay put for long. Frequent disconnections and not very user friendly compared to 70mai app

Almost any kind of strong adhesive can be removed from a glass surface using a paper cutter blade. In the past I've had some really old window sun films removed when they became illegal. The service center used a soap water mixture along with paper cutters to remove them and any leftover glue.

Recently, I removed and re-stuck my dashcam, albeit it had just been an hour or so that I had stuck it. It was stuck quite firm but did come off, one just needs to be careful to not damage the mount itself. I used the same prying tool that came with the camera - if there would've been any leftover pieces of the adhesive tape on my windshield, my plan was to use the paper cutter blade - soapy mixture combination.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hi All,

I have been using an Aukey DR-01 camera for more than 5 years now and it has been serving me well. Some time back, the vaccuum suction piece which holds the car to the windshield has torn, resulting in it not working. I have lost the spare that came along with the original camera box and I was wondering if there is anything that can be done. I am not able to find the suction piece online, or at least one that can be attached to the rest of the camera.

The camera is working as new, and I do not want to buy a new camera for this small piece. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you.

The third and 4th images of the below link show the necessary parts which are needed for it to stick: https://www.flipkart.com/aukey-dr01-...mf5d39erqz28w9

Regards
Arvind

I got one of these in 2021, and it has been working great for me, haven't had a drop or any complaints. have removed and stuck it back on works wonders. NO affiliations with site. https://www.nexdigitron.com/collections/mounts-stickers

Great review, clean. Clarifies many of my doubts.

I have been using a Yi dashcam and has a LCD screen and a few buttons and I never needed a mobile app to configure/operate the camera, although it does have WiFi and ADAS capability. Now that the camera is ~7 years old and will go as part of my old car, I am looking for a new camera for a new car.

Since most of the popular cameras I am seeing on Amazon do not meet my requirements (rather high expectations), e.g. combining video streams from multiple cameras and provide some features such as 360 degree parking assistance, parking surveillance in addition to standard 2k-4k D&N video recording, I will settle down for a interim economical solution with Qubo or similar cameras and try building a custom solution over time.

A couple of quick questions:

1. Can the camera work in standalone mode and store video footage with GPS, even if there is no mobile/app connected? If I can configure the camera using a mobile/app and then delete the app, or that mobile is never carried in the car thereafter, will the camera work fine?

2. What format the videos are stored in the SD card. Can I remove the SD card, copy the videos in a PC and view them or process them there? Is the timestamp/GPS coordinates part of the video, or are separate. Are the videos plain Mp4 H.264/H.265 playable / editable using any PC based video editor or are encrypted files that can be used only with the app?

Thanks

Answer is YES.

I haven't tried this myself (I've kept the app in the mobile, in case needed after any mishap) but I'm sure that camera will work flawlessly even if mobile is not connected.

Once the installation & camera configuration done, the app is needed only for change the settings of camera like no recording of sound etc. or view clips, kind of convenience benefit only.

Other than that, it can work standalone since it has SD card to store the recorded clips. Only thing is you've to take out SD card to PC and access the 1 minute clips.

Again, answer is YES.

I don't remember the format of the files, but I am never able to play these files on PC with Windows Media Player (only sound, No picture). The workaround for me is I'm using VLC player to play these files on PC.

Yes. The timestamp/GPS coordinates are part of the video.

Hope this helps!

Open DDPAI App --> Connection (You must connect to ddpai wifi, no internet and keep GPS on) --> Click on Download --> here you will see the videos, choose which ones you want to download.
Above steps I do in DDPAI Mola N3, but I presume steps must same for all cams of DDPAI.

Even I have been struggling to "connect", see and download videos using the DDPai App.

The app had lot of connection issues with the camera and I wasnt able to see/download footages using the app. Updated to the latest version of the app, tried everything possible.

Reached out to Nexdigitron who sold it to me through amazon in their whatsapp chat and was told to disconnect Data and use only Wifi and Location and it worked. But still the download is a struggle. Will try again today with the suggestion from DetectiveMiles.

On the contrary, checked the 70mai cam and app on my cousin's car and it has 1 min videos in the cam and app which are more easy to download.

DDpai app requires lot of improvement in terms of user friendliness and usage.

Maybe use 3M double sided tape and stick it to the windshield or search for dashcam mount on Amazon.

Looks like this item from Amazon.in can work. Reuse the base by opening some screws/nuts/bolts from the item and fix into your dashcam's holder

https://www.amazon.in/Suction-monopo.../dp/B075MDH6W9

There are many other options similar to this in Amazon, check out all. Also you can visit a local mobile accessory shop for this sort of thing and check in person, if anything works.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I had the same struggle as many here using DDpai, the app wont connect till you switch off mobile data. Then it takes its own sweet time to download the video.

On the other hand, I have 70mai in my other car and it works like a charm!

Also, first Mola N3 went kaput in less than a year of usage. Since the video quality was great at the price I got it again. The issue with mobile data was present with both the cameras.
