Baleno ICE prob.!!!

Setup:
HU: Pio 2850 50Wx4
Front: JBL compos 606ce
Rear : Pio 6x9 420W
Amp: JVC 4ch 55rms x 4

Problem:
The driver side front compos produces irritating grrr or krriii sound whenever the music is played but this only happens when the car is running.....If the music is heard when the car is parked with engine off the sound is clear n good....
It is quite irritating n has forced me to drive without music these days

It is better not to run the setup as it is caused because of loose wiring....the major one could be the speaker wire touching the car chassis...or the wiring of the amp would be lose...plz get your wiring check.......

@Abhibh. For a 6k budget, it's better to get 6X9s for the rear and 6/6.5" coaxials for the front. You may also opt for 5.25" coaxials if you want to save some bucks. You can select from JBL, BLAU, Alpine, Hertz DSK series etc..

Check this to see what a component speaker looks like: JBL Car Audio | GTO 507 | FXAudio

Check this to see what a normal co-ax speaker looks like: JBL Car Audio | CS 2104 | FXAudio

i am aware that for a sub in a sealed enclosure greater amplification is required. is it the same with speakers also ??

it is more pronoced in bass speakers priimarily as box volume affects lower freq. more. ABove about 300Hz it really does not matter.

First, thats one of my fav indian classic cars. The pic is a bit tiny but it seems in good condition from what little I can see. Congrats. Treat her well.

Second, it seems like a good idea to start a thread in the modifications and accessories section. A lot of people would like to give their inputs on your mods. I know I do.

And as for the ICE, 40-50k is a decent budget. Here are some options off the top of my head:

Option A:

Pioneer HU: Rs 9000
Pioneer 4ch amp: Rs 7000
Pioneer Mono amp: Rs 10000
Cables: Rs 6000
Damping: Rs 2000
12" Sub: Rs 6000~9000
Front 2way components: Rs 6000~9000
Installation: Rs 2000
Total: Rs 48000 ~ 54000

Option B:

Pioneer HU: Rs 9000
Pioneer 4ch amp: Rs 7000
Cables: Rs 6000
Damping: Rs 2000
12" Sub: 9000
Front 3way components: Rs 13000
Installation: Rs 2000
Total: Rs 48000

Based on your preference for a more balanced sound I suggest the latter option as you will get more emphasis on the midrange and overall front stage with a 3 way component system. And the rear channels of your 4ch amp can be bridged to drive a sub.

Cheers!

Hello rishism.

I mostly agree with what Gunbir said there. I'd also recommend you take a look at some Panasonic head units, I was greatly impressed by one or two models. I don't have a head for numbers sorry.

As far as speakers go, definitely components in the front. As a thumb rule, specialist speaker companies make better speakers than regualr japanese manufacturers like Sony and Pioneer.

Since mum's coming from the US, I suggest you start visiting the Crutchfield page and finalize your equipment with a little help from this page. We are here for advice.

I suggest you avoid asking your mum to get the subwoofer and possible speakers. She can definitely get you the amp, hu and maybe components too. Check Indian proces before you commit. For a little more, it is better to buy here itself.

ism: If the budget is below a lac, buying from US is not worth it.

I like what gunbir said.

I used to have a Conti (I loved the growl of that Isuzu engine) - dont ask me what the stereo was - suffice to say that there was only room for an igloo in the trunk. I was single and really mad then.

I would seriously consdier 3 ways in the front at the risk of sacrificing the rears and a bigger amp.

50K...less 5K for damping (you need to damp those front doors well) and 3K for wires and install = 42K.

8-9K will get you a good HU with 3 pre outs. Pioneer, Clarion, Kenwood and Blaupunkt can be considered.

3 way components will run you 12-13K please listen to as many speakers as you can as this is very critical esp in 3 ways where you have a complex crossover and the midrange is closer to your ears.

HU + front speakers = 20-22K you are left with 20-22K.

then spend 10-12K on an amp and 8-10K on a boxed 12" sub.

yea i figired that out cause when i installed the tube in the zen there was no space for the tray so had to get rid of it and shift the speakers into boxes but ive noticed they lack bass when the sub woofer is off (not that i really need that considering i have a bass tube ) but i was jus wondering would these sound better in ported boxes ??
