How does one fit a 3" speaker in the stock in-dash location in the Santro, which is normally meant for a 4"? Thanks in advance.

I am buying Chevy Spark. The car will be delivered on Monday. I have started looking for the ICE setup that will go in the car.

I am planning on the following

HU - Alpine 9881
Front Components - Hertz Engergy/Infinity Reference
Rear Coaxials - Infinity Reference 6x9
4 Channel Amp - RF P450.4/Alpine MRP-F450

I have following questions

1. Which amplifier is better from the above two amplifiers? At-least what are the pros and cons of both of them.
2. The car is small and so I don't want to put a sub. Which 6x9 will give me best bass given that there is no sub
3. For front components, which would be a better choice Hertz or Infinity given that I mostly listen to bollywood music. Please pardon me as I don't understand the different genre of music like Rock, Pop, et al
4. What wiring should I go for with this set up?
5. How should I stage my rear speakers to get the best SQ?

Thanks
There have been no suggestions. Please help.

What on earth are these?

Specially these. Awfully sticky & stretchable!

Is the picture on the right to be used as a template to cut the door?

Sir, I suggest you start a new thread... lets not hijack the general advice thread and incur the wrath of the mod lords.

These are different mounting apparatus for the HT20 tweeter. For more details, please refer the manual.

These "Awfully sticky & stretchable" strips are inserted between the provided plastic ring and the mesh grill to damp vibrations.

Yes, the inner dotted line is the cutout. Instead of this you can also use the provided grill's outer ring as a template. I am almost certain you should not have to cut any metal, just the door trip and pocket. Will revert on this.

Gurus, just wanted to know, whether it was a good idea to power a GTO1264 by a CS60.2 (1x160rms @ 4 ohms)?

Not such a good idea. While you will have bass, the CS60.2 will not have enough juice to extricate the best performance out of that woofer.
I would suggest a CS300.1 instead.

I agree...to get full power from the sub you need more power.

How about using Blaupunkt GTA 280 instead? (severe budget constraints, so CS300.1 is hard)

spec (GTA 280):
  • Max. Total Power @ 4 Ohms 425 Watts
  • Max. Power at 4 Ohms 2 x 160 / 1 x 425 Watts
  • Max. Power at 2 Ohms 2 x 210 Watts
  • RMS Power at 4 Ohms 2 x 75 / 1 x 210 Watts
  • RMS Power at 2 Ohms 2 x 105 Watts
  • Number of channels 2/1
  • Frequency response 10 - 35,000 Hz
  • Signal to noise ratio > 95 dBA
  • Distortion factor (@ full RMS Power) < 0,03 %
  • Input impedance > 10 kOhm
  • Attenuation factor (@ 4 Ohms) > 100
  • Input sensitivity 0,3 - 8 V
  • Input sensitivity Direct Aux Input 300 mV
  • Stability 2 Ohms (4 Ohms bridged)
  • Lowpass 50 - 250 Hz (12dB/Octave)
  • Highpass 50 - 250 Hz (12dB/Octave)
  • Bass Boost 0 - 12dB @ 45 Hz
  • Inputs 2 x Cinch/RCA gold plated, 2 x HighLevel, 1 x Direct Aux-Input via 3.5 mm phone jack

What is your budget? You can go for 75.4 also.

Current setup:

01. HU: Alpine CDA - 9854R:
02. FS: Blaupunkt Velocity VSc 662 (6.5", Compo's):
03. RS: Infinity Reference - 9613i (6"x9"):
04. Amp: JBL CS 60.4

Budget: 13k max (sub + amp).

I tried the CS1204B and GTO1264 today. Then I tried the Velocity - Vb 300 (400w rms, dvc) and it rocked!. Too expensive though ;-(
