Yeah Navin, I am thinking of having a space of about 4"to 6" between the floor and speakers.

even 10" woofers would do but it not the woofers but the Mass of the cone and the compliance of the spider that determines this. what you want is a light cone and a stiff spider. However a light cone and a stiff spider make for a woofer that dont make very low bass. so it is a trade off.

the audio concepts woofers i was talking about get arond this by (a) using dual spiders to support a reasonably heavy cone and (b) a huge multiple magnet system to creat enough Bl to drive this cone/coil.

Most 8" woofers would be safe but a 8" woofer moves about half as much air as a 12" woofer often even less. why do you want to face the woofer to the floor? Any specific reason?

maybe you can work yuor enclosure around...
this link will give you some ideas

THe reason for facing the woofer upside down is that Bass will travel approx. 1200 yards. So, you can imagine how it will be. Can you please send me the details of the audio concepts woofer.

if you are using 2 similar 12" woofers the options i would consider is bass reflex or bandpass for a scorpio. for a sedan I would recomend sealed or aperiodic. you will get an idea of what i am talkin about from the link above.

if you were not intending to move the woofer at all from the car one option is a 3 chamber 4th order band pass. this means that a single big box is divided into 3 parts. the center part is vented into the cabin. the other 2 parts are sealed. the woofer are mounted on the 2 dividers inside the box (that are used to divide teh box into 3 parts).

you can write to Mike Dzurko, he is a gem of a guy, and ask him about the SV12. Tell him you are from India and importing the whole box etc will cost an arm and a leg etc...maybe he will relent. but be polite. ok?

and Navin, where do you get the Sony 504z for 4k? is this w/o B & W???

If your saying that the output that this amp generates is the same as the Clarion one i mentioned, might as well get this .... and save a grand or some..

BTW mood...a pair of titans and a pair of jaguars from aci make very good music. very very good. Speaker like these and those from Wilson Audio, Richard Vandersteen, Jim Theil, Revel, etc... are an education.

I think it's available quite freely between 4 to 5 k. I've heard the sony and for the price: it's pretty good. I havent heard any clarion amp yet
