Signals are not different at all, just encrypted for different services. You simply take an activated set top box anywhere within the satellite footprint and you will get reception. The company cannot control where you can access and where you cant, all depends on the coverage of the satellite signal, which is very wide. I know dishtv works in Dubai, i use it .

cheers.

Got TataSky+ yesterday. Initial impressions are that there is a slight improvement in picture quality and colors when connected to an LCD TV using the component video connectors compared with picture from the vanilla STB. One caveat, this small improvement in picture quality is lost if one uses the component cable provided with the PVR. The stock cable is poor quality - a better quality cable is recommended. As mentioned earlier, the TV shows the output from the PVR at a resolution of 576i.
One other minor point, the PVR can output picture at 16:9 format if the option is selected in its picture settings. Essentially it stretches a 4:3 picture to 16:9 (because all broadcast in India is 4:3 AFAIK). Most LCD TVs will also do that but here it is done in the PVR itself. I haven't been able to tell as yet if doing this via the PVR gives a better stretched picture than the wide modes on my Sony Bravia.

DishTV on 2nd TV in Aundh, Pune

I have DISH TV for almost 3.5 years now. Now I want programming
on a 2nd TV also. Just called up DISH & they said that I will have to
buy a 2nd box & connection & activate it as a child connection.
As per the Customer Service
- I have to pay 170 Rs per month for my 2nd connection for the
same Maxi Package (I pay roughly 340Rs for my 1st connection)
- Inspite of paying this, I won't get Star Channels at all
- I have some A-La-Carte Packages on my 1st connect (extra over
the 340Rs Maxi). I will have to separately subscribe for this
on the 2nd connection.

Considering all this, I am thinking of a few other options
- Have basic cable for the 2nd connection. In my earlier flat (on Aundh Road), the cable connection was pretty bad. Need to see how it is
here (near DP road, Aundh)
- Take a totally different DISH connection (maybe Tatasky) for the
2nd connection
- Some IPTV connection (are there any available in Pune)

Another thing to consider is - I think only one of my bedrooms has
internal wiring for cable/dish - and it's not the bedroom, I want the
connection on. So wiring will be a mess.

Any suggestions, experiences?

well ,I bought a new TV(philips 29" CRT) also .
the reason for going to BIG dth is the way sun lacks many a channels.it is good with regional channels especially south channels.sun dth hasn't yet got Open TV software to make the dth experience better.it looks like something above cable tv.

I am not going to cancel the sun a/c I have.I may give it to my cousin's house.ofcourse ,he is not interested that much.

Just dumped Dish & got myself Airtel. Airtel seems to be the best among the present. The few airspace channels bundled are a bonus. Looking forward to good times.

Agree with you on the WorldSpace channels. It has been 2 months with Airtel and I have found it to be good. Not a single glitch so far, in terms of transmission.

IPTV is available in pune , just go to sakal nagar for the iptv demo. But you will need bsnl connection and telephone connection near your tv. ( They connect the router to the telephone line ,from which they take out ethernet cable which goes to settopbox which finally gives you cable -> to your tv)

I just have seen the setup , do know about the quality service as i don't have it.
