I still don't understand how can the angle vary depending on building? It MUST always face the satellite, no matter how high or low the building is or whether it faces north or south. Just like the sun always rises in the east no matter whether your building faces north or south, is high or low-rise

Jesus! All Dash was trying to do was talk about his experience getting Digital TV installed. He's happy with the way it was done - hardly a cause for so much debate. Thanks for the review Dash!

If the satellite is at 13E then all dishes will point in that direction regardless of where you are in that country.

The angle that will change depending on your location is the inclination (azimuth etc) of the dish.

  • 90mins wrap up only means that they have a deadline on minimum number of installs per day. Doesn't mean that the quality is better than others nor is it a Customer satisfaction oriented procedure.
  • Comparing the Demo of a DTH provider to one who demo's a Plasma tele is again a bit unfair.IMO , it only means that you understood the STB procedure more than the Panasonic.
  • Airtel's customer service is good , no denying that...... in the telephone sector.
All the above reasons only make me think if yours looks like a sales promotion on T-BHP!.If it aint, pardon my french.

For every single point explained by DASH, you seem to have very good understanding of how bad the Airtel guys are and still can be better than what they are.

But, for many people who explect least of A.S.S from any product they buy, this was really GREAT experience and make people happy about it. DASH, thanks for sharing your experience.

As we are so open to critize the bad service, we should be praising the good service as well.

Airtel's customer service has never been good for me. The agents do not know their gluteal region form their elbows. The so called regional honchos cannot be bothered to reply to emails. However one thing I have noticed with Airtel email the CEO and things do get done. Similar case with BSNL, contact the CEO and soon the local heads are ready to kiss your gluteal area.

"Tata Sky+" Unveiled

Alright folks, Stop fighting over silly little things like that. India's first Digital TV program recorder has already been launched and not by Dish or Airtel or Big, but the good ol' Tata Sky. Like they say,

Quote:
Pause a live cricket match, while you answer the phone. Record your favourite action movie, while you let your wife watch her daily soap. Rewind the Prime Minister’s speech and listen to it all over again. Get the power to pause, record and rewind live television with Tata Sky+.
DTH ? Tata Sky DTH in India, Leading Satellite Television Provider in India, DTH services by Tata Sky, Direct-to-home, India

The ADs are already showing on Tata Sky subscribers' intro ads featuring absolutely ummmm Gul Panag. But it is begining of a new Era, I believe. Record and See later, that too from Vendor and not some jugaad. Truly, Isko Laga Dala, To Life Jhingalala.

Inspite of this, I will get Digital TV installed next month or so.

That box only is for some 8K+. Is it worth buying such a costly box when a company like Airtel is offering dish + box + 12months cable (65Ch) just for 2k and this is inclusive of installation.

I ordered a Airtel DTH for a friend of mine after reviewing all the DTH in market, can say the quality of box + Dish + After sales service is excellent. They are giving world space with right now 10 radio Ch (free for lifetime). Universal remote which works with your TV also.

Inside story is that TataSky is ready with WorldSpace for immediate rollout. They should be launching this when they see a dent in their sales due to the new players.

Go through the thread, this has already been discussed.

Again go through the thread - you're comparing apples to oranges. A PVR is very different from a normal STB.

I've been seeing these offers from all the DTH guys, but I'm confused over one thing, do they bundle all the channels in this offer or do you have to take a premium package.

We watch all sorts of channels at home: Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, English movies, English news channels, all sports channels, Nat Geo, Animal Planet, Discovery, Travel & Living, History, all music channels, FTV, all cartoon channels including Chutti TV and Hungama !!

Question is who has the best package which covers all these and what is the approximate cost per month? I can't take a South only package or the base packages as they don't have most of these channels.

Reliance has the same for 2k in the south offer. Valid for 1 year.

I pay 300 per month for dish TV & I get most of the channels. The regional channels have to be picked as an option i.e either tamil/telugu/malayalam or hindi/punjabi

I saw news saying that worldspace filed for bankruptcy protection. See the story here The Hindu Business Line : WorldSpace files for bankruptcy in US

Also remember reading that they tied up with Bharathi DTH

that's unfortunate! I didn't think they would give up this easily.
