If there is no rush, then 15 mins flat is all it takes. I got one done for my IP7.
However, they had quoted me an estimated time of 2-3 hours.

What about waterproof rating? The phone will lose that sticky gasket once open, right?

I shattered my Honor Play screen and this has made me a bit apprehensive regarding phone purchases.
I cracked my iPhone 11 screen a few months back and when I enquired then, I was quoted prices between 10-18k for official as well as 3rd party replacements. So unfortunately, even though the phone is being Made/Assembled in India, there's not much of a change in cost.

I'm currently managing with a broken screen, and if I can somehow manage for another 1-1.5 years, I can directly get whichever iPhone releases next.

Re: The iPhone Thread

One of my relatives would be traveling to India from US next month and I am thinking of asking him to get a iPhone 12, 128GB version. The current price in India is about INR 83k and I might get some credit card discount which will reduce the price to INR 81k without exchange. The prices of the same model in US is about US$879 which works out to INR 64.6k.

The key selling point of the iPhone 12 is 5G compatibility. But I wanted to check if a phone bought from US will work with the 5G technology which will be introduced in India. Please note that 5G is not the sole reason for buying this phone and I am fine even if I do not get 5G for the next 1-2 years. But it would be good to know if I will be able to use 5G in India on a phone bought from US.

I am aware that I might need to buy a charging adapter separately. I hope the charging wire which is given along with the phone works in India.

Few points:
1. 5G phones from US would work in India. US iPhone has an additional mm Wave antenna which would be useless here, though (Don't worry about it).
2. 5G is at least 3-4 years away in India
3. Get a screen protector from Apple Store itself along with a case

Re: The iPhone Thread

My 12 Pro is from the US. I get slightly better reception compared to the older iPhone, and voice is crystal clear. Mine is a real world case, so not sure what the experts are saying. The charging brick is Rs. 1900. Wire is perfect. Everything works just fine. Dont worry

Add taxes plus conversion charges if you are paying for this from India using your card. Still it is worth it coz the difference would be more than 10k INR I guess.

They re-seal the phone with the water-proof material is what I am told. However, I haven't tested it, nor I am very confident of subjecting it to water in future.

I would suggest to go in for the 12 Pro instead if you're getting it from the US. The difference between the 12 128GB and the 12 Pro is $ 120, which translates to approx. 9K in INR. It's worth the jump IMHO.
With that additional lens, extra 2 GB of RAM and better build, you will be more future-proof with the Pro.

Re: The iPhone Thread

I made the most expensive gadget purchase in the last couple of years (3 to be exact since I got a MacBook Air for 57k). For reference my windows laptop by Lenovo cost in 2019 was 16k + a 240GB Kingston SSD that has made it a speedy beast compared to the 5400rpm HDD it came with.

In the past, I have used Nokia NGage QD (2005-2008), HTC Pocket PC (2008-2012), Galaxy Note 1 (2012-2015), Galaxy Note 3 Neo (2015-2017), Moto G5Plus (2017-2018), Honor Play (2018-2019), Xiaomi MiA3 (2019-2021). Honor Play screen got shattered after 5 months of ownership and I am still using it like that. MiA3 has been the most terrible phone I have ever owned. No more Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo ever (collateral casualties).

I got the iPhone 11 64GB variant for 49k and received it today. I have also ordered Spigen EZ screen protector, Spigen Ultra Hybrid case, Spigen wireless charger and a Qualcomm Quick charger 3.0 USB-A from BoAt that will power the wireless charger.

To be honest, I find no significant upgrade over iPhone XR owned by my junior at work that is available for 36k and has earpods, charger etc. in the box. Lack of multiple cameras in XR titled my decision at the last moment. 5G is lacking in both that is not a worry (I upgraded to 4G in 2018 above as I was not inclined to let go of the Note 3 Neo).

The iPad 9.7 2018 charger is currently doing the duty of the iPhone charger as the phone didnt come with one. Only a USB C to lightning cable is supplied which is not compatible with conventional chargers.

Planning to get a third party 20W USB-C charger from Dr. Vaku for those quick urgent charges. It has very good ratings and reviews. I usually avoid quick chargers so dont want to get the official apple one.

https://www.amazon.in/Charger-Power-...oginhydrmob-21

Summary: With 5G around, those who are not too much into gadgets and specs can go for the XR if they dont mind the single camera with an average low light photos. I find negligible difference between XR and 11.
The amount saved can be used during upgrade to 5G

Re: The iPhone Thread

Hi All,
Recently purchased Iphone 12 after being Android fan for 8 years in the republic day sale and got a Wireless charger free with this. Bummer is no Charger bundled in package and presently using the TypeC - Lightning cable with my Thinkpad to charge the phone.

Looking for a fast charger with 2 ports - 20W USB C PD and a USB A port for Wireless charger. Any recommendations in Amazon/Flipkart?

No Service after updating the phone. Is it a bug? tried hard reboot, reinserting the SIM, still no service.

My wife's Airtel iPhone 12 128gb did a successful update, albeit took longer than usual to reboot. Maybe a temp glitch somewhere. Try another SIM?

Any feedback from users of older iPhones like the 6s or 7’s?
