yeah he is using 3G in India. Hmmn, i never thought of the switching aspect but that makes sense. I'll ask him to disable fast dormancy.

Check my signature

I have a Galaxy Nexus with me whose main board is found to be faulty. If any of the Galaxy Nexus users here want spare parts for your phone (cameras, mic assembly, sim-tray, amoled screen, etc., I am ready to cannibalize the phone.

I have tools and know-how to dismantle parts safely and precisely.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Upgraded my Galaxy S3 to 4.1.2 with the OTA update and am happy. Earlier 4.1.1 started to get laggy with frequent app crashes. This time did a factory reset and manually installed the apps again.

Much more snappy than before and the new updates are welcome. Finally I can customise the order of buttons on the pull down context menu. Premium suite now allows you to have multi window option.

I believe this also fixes the S3 sudden death issue due to memory leak.

While trying out a whole lot of stuff to improve response on 4.1.1, I came across a quick way to really speed up the phone on XDA. Reduce the animation time. Steps to follow:

1. Go to settings -> Developer options
2. Enable Developer options
3. Go down to Drawing section
4. "Window animation scale" and and "Transition animation scale" should be set to 1X
5. Change to 0.5X
6. Enjoy the new snappiness.

Note: You can also try 0 but it sometimes hesitates. 0.5X was the sweet spot.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I finally got my hands on Nexus4 yesterday, exactly 2 months after I had ordered it.
This is my first android phone (or any smartphone for that matter) and I am a complete noob on things android currently. Can the very knowledgeable experts here help me out with some useful pointers and links. Some pages explaining what, why and hows of rooting, flashing, etc. will be useful. Also maybe some useful/must-have apps.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Galaxy S3 owners, Official 4.1.2 firmware is now available:

On the other hand, tried CM10 on my phone yesterday. MUCH better than firmware provided by Samsung.

I have turned settings to 0 and surprisingly navigating through screens, opening closing apps/messages are much quicker. Try turning it to 0.

There must be two options where you need to apply the setting, apply in both.
