Thank you,I will check this out

Samsung has a bad reputation not releasing phones on time in India , It started with Nexus , S2 mini . Hope Grand doesn't go the same way.

It's time Samsung , HTC take India seriously else we may see Micromax and Karbon leading the pack .

Well, the new SIII values are 1.46W/Kg(body)!! ALso if we look at the FAA specs, a 15 degree tilt away from the face with the axis at the point of contact of phone and ear, reduces SAR quite a bit. it has mostly to do with the placement of the antenna.

Well as per the manual of the indian S3 (i9300) the sar values(W/kg) are:
Head : 0.342
Body-worn : 0.547

Yes, but that was in Sep/Oct 2012. There were a few updates/installs that happened after I am back in India.

Just retry after changing the timezone back to where you had been. I had this issue in November when I travelled to France and back to India. I manually changed timezone and it started updating.

Both the phones you have shortlisted are wonderful. I am using a HTC One S (TMOBILE version) for the past 5-6 months and have found absolutely zilch problems. It is fast, stable, sleek, good to hold and has a pretty decent shooter. Now, I am also in the market for another Droid for my wife, and Xperia SL is what makes it to the top of my list right now. Actually, it would still have been the HOS, but since I have it, hence my wife won't have it!
I paid 23K for a HTC One S from EBay, and the Xperia SL is available for 20700 from EBay. No warranty of course.
Regarding HTC ONE S, one key suggestion would be to stay away from the Indian version. It uses an inferior chipset and processor and heats up quite a lot. The TMOBILE version is butter smooth. Originally, before buying this Droid, I was certain that I would need to root and install a custom ROM, but 5-6 months down the line, I am loving the Stock Rom's features, performance and stability, and haven't yet tried any Custom ROM's yet.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I'm listing down a few ROMS (and my rating out of five) that I have tried and tested on my T-mobile Galaxy S3 over the past couple months that have worked for me in terms of solid performance and good battery life. Four kernels, apart from the stock kernel that these ROMS come along with, have also served to be pretty useful. (Not all kernel's are compatible with these ROMS).

ROMs:

1. XquiziT_v71 (Five stars)
2. Wicked_JBv3 (Four stars)
3. SGS3_4.1.1_STOCK_Slim_01-18-2013_KTMDave7 (Five stars)
4. Jedi_Invasion_3 (Four stars)
5. FreeGS3_R7_1_1_Resurrection (Four stars)
6. AOKP_December_26th_KANG (Five stars)

KERNELs:

1. Ktoonsez (Five stars)
2. KT747 (Four stars)
3. Trinity (Three stars)
4. Lean kernel (Five stars)

The stock GB OS is really slow on the phone. Better to flash a custom ROM. There are plenty available, just pick one that suits you. I flashed Imaginary ICS on my wife's ace.

Since you have rooted the phone you can also try and remove all the pre-installed bloatware. I do not think it will make much of a difference though.

Another news is that Canvas 3 will be launched in March. I would expect it with better than A116 specs.

The specs are impressive to say the least. The screen quality had always been its weak point (A100, A110), which is now addressed along with the RAM. Bonus is the quad core

Actually the RAM figure is right now a rumor from what I read. But then at that price point and with a quad core, they should definitely go for 1 GB
