re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

One thing is sure that Jazz will cannibalize sales of Amaze. Amaze is already struggling to keep its momentum. May be that is the reason Honda is not very keen to bring it soon in India. Jazz will be very similarly priced as Amaze for sure. But if someone gets Jazz at the same price or little higher, many will prefer Jazz IMHO as it will have much better interiors with same space as Amaze has including the boot space. Any day i will prefer Jazz over Amaze. Jazz with Diesel is good combo for success for sure.

If i am the decision maker, i will bring Jazz immediately to India. Let it eat sales of Amaze, at the end of the day sale will happen which Honda is struggling to make

re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

It would be interesting to understand how they place Jazz. Pricing made this machine fail in terms of sales figures last time around.
Btw, do we see Amaze doing a Etios/Verito/Logan?

Looking at the new Jazz, it does not look like they can place this within 6.5 ex showroom. Hopefully they don't make variants which lets customers chose a non ABS, non airbag kinda setup. I believe they must sustain what they had been sustaining in these models. (of course Amaze/Brio did it. Sigh!)

My wishlist:
>Match the build quality of European rivals.
>Include ACC & GC improvement

While I agree that Jazz needs improvement on GC and features like ACC apart from the harsh ride quality at slow speeds particularly, I dont agree about the build quality. Jazz is a very solidly built car as good as any other European car. The doors close with a reassuring thud. Picture this - the Jazz weighs a pretty hefty 1055 kgs which is similar to the 'European' car Polo. There's a perception that Japanese make tinny cars while Europeans make solid cars but thats not true for all cars. And things like tinny and solid are vague terms..lets talk about specifics, lets talk about more quantitative comparisons if we want a debate. Where Honda really needs to improve and match the Germans/European cars is the ride and handling package...Japanese are still far behind Europeans when it comes to ride and handling.

By the way, I have been using the car for 3.5 years and 40K kms and not even a single rattle or squeak from anywhere.. feels as good as new. Yes, it got some things to improve upon like any other car and I hope Honda will take care of those in its new avatar.

I am very happy the way the new Jazz is shaping up... seems like a killer offering from Honda if they price it well...A 30-40K over the Amaze can be easily justified given the far superior build quality and far more premium interiors, not to forget about the safety aspect.

+1 to this.

Let me rephrase. When I say "match the build quality", I do not mean to say that Jazz comes with a low build quality (not at all). What I meant can more or less be felt by a simple activity. Life the bonnet of a Polo and Jazz, and you can make the difference. Chassis/structure wise, I have not come across any figures or stats which can say anything apart.

Now, considering the Polo bonnet being more heavier, denser, I have a reason to believe a force of equal power can make a bigger dent in Jazz. Ain't it?

Btw, I also own Jazz and do not have any complaints whatsoever.

I don't remember about the bonnet but I did compare the doors and I did not find any significant difference with the Polo. Also, the Jazz has a very small bonnet compared to the Polo because of its different shape. As I told earlier, the Jazz weighs same as the Polo. So, even if I take your argument that the bonnet is lighter, then there would be other areas where the Jazz will be heavier. No? So, I am not sure what to make out of this. Also, weight is not the most important thing for build quality.
Anyways, if you means ride and handling, then I agree as I have already told. The Japs need to improve the chasis and suspension to match the Europeans. Lets hope the new Jazz improves in this aspect.

re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

As an ardent fan of the previous Jazz, I was heartbroken when I couldnt buy it the last time around. This current version looks very good! The ground clearance was an issue in the previous version and it will remain an issue in this version too. I hope they fix the stiff ride quality too.

Thanks for the pic RavenAvi!!!

By "next financial year" do you mean April 2014 or any time between April 2014 and Mar 2015?

Late 2014/ early 2015 would be more precise.

Are there an interior pics? I would love to see the new interiors and it will also give an idea of the features we can expect.
I can see the mirrors have the blinkers and the door handles have been changed for good. The alloys look tacky though

This says Q2 2014. This means its before June 2014. This would be just perfect for my purchase, assuming the waiting times are not ridiculous

From what I read earlier today during the Jazz unveil, it has similarities to the 2014 City on the inside - same steering wheel, touchscreen ACC, large HU display, etc., with the usual huge amount of interior space which makes the Jazz unique.

Can't find an interior pic of the Jazz, but I am sure one of our BHP team might have got really close and snapped a few. Should see them in the official Team-BHP Auto Expo/Honda thread.

The article is wrong. Jazz won't be launched before Diwali 2014. The Mobilio is scheduled to be launched during May-June.
