Re: The story of a Blue Streak a.k.a Maruti Suzuki Swift ZDi (Torque Blue) - Michelin XM2 tyres are

My colleague had a $5 coupon lying with him and wasn't using it to buy anything so I went ahead and got two small items for myself.

1) A Netted carrying bag (1 pair) - $1.39;

A simple design for the smaller items like mobile phone etc. I am using it for keeping my purse and mobile phone during charging.

The carrying bag

2) Digital Tyre depth gauge - $2.60 -- Neat, small packing that does its job well.

Tyres: Michelin XM2 (195/60 R15)

Odo during tyre change: 60,220 kms

Current Odo: 63,415 kms

Distance covered till now: ~3,200 kms

Have finally fixed that plastic cover today using good quality SS nuts and bolts rather than those plastic clips.

It is silent and peaceful to drive now.

Wow 64k in 2 years is a lot of kms. As for the scratches its nearly impossible to keep a car scratch free in India unless you lock it in a garage and never use it. BTW did you name the car Blue Streak after the movie with same name

Wish you more happy motoring miles.

Thank you Sumeet. 64K is less actually. My earlier car, Ritz did 70K IIRC.

Regarding the naming of my car, it was put by a BHPian friend.

Re: The story of a Blue Streak a.k.a Maruti Suzuki Swift ZDi (Torque Blue) - Michelin XM2 tyres are

Had a tube of Displex Polish lying at home which is when I though of using it to get rid of some scratches the ICE HU has accumulated over the 2 years. Had got this Displex Tube for $8 a pair.

Here are the pictures:

Displex Tube

Scratches on the HU

Before and After for comparison

A day time shot
The story of a Blue Streak a.k.a Maruti Swift ZDi (Torque Blue). 1,20,000 km up & now sold-5.-after-polish-daytime.jpg

Though there are some left overs one but never mind, results are more than satisfactory! I didn't go much into detail of making the sides etc as this was just a trial. I'll be masking the sides and then re-polish for better results also the same for the other bits too.

If it is the same, its would be a very easy plug and play task. Else, I might not be interested in altering the stock wiring.

Thanks Anurag.

Anyone added boot light to their Swift VDi ?

There is a already a slot with removable plastic cap in place of light.

The only thing I want to know if the wiring has been provided by MSIL or do I need to pull a wire from the cabin light ?

Well, I am yet to take the plunge. Last time I checked(though I might be wrong here), my car had hard molded plastic on the slot and not removable plastic cap. Though I need to recheck.

I'll be happy if there is a removable plastic cap. I am pretty hopeful that Maruti won't be using a separate wiring harness for VDi and ZDi (for simplifying inventory and reducing complexity).

Other than adding the boot lamp, I am also interested in adding the temperature display on console (an idea beamed by Mr.Sachania for his Ertiga Vdi, but yet to be done).

Anyways, for this light, lets exchange notes and plan a DIY

I am trying to get hold of someone who has a VDi or VXi so that I can check on this and try to get a quicker solution.

Shall try and update you guys soon.

So, I bought the light and it is very cheap (Rs.105/- only including bulb). God knows how much Maruti Suzuki saved by not providing it in lower variants.

I could not see any connector behind the removable cover in the evening. I will check it later (myself or at an accessory shop).

Wanted to do this in my VXi but when I asked at the service centre, they said there is no wiring leading to that slot. I will probably build a light with its own power source for this application. A boot light is really quite essential. Don't know why manufacturers do such silly cost cutting.

There are many things that are possible but refused by service centers. Don't take their words as ultimate truth.

Not sure how helpful but here is the wiring diagram from the Supplementary Service Manual of Swift/Dzire!

The story of a Blue Streak a.k.a Maruti Swift ZDi (Torque Blue). 1,20,000 km up & now sold-img_20160107_233838.jpg

Looking at the diagram, I guess the lighting is connected somehow to the dome light.

Will study further and see what I get out of this.

Thanks Anurag.

Please tell me if the boot light is auto on like cabin light when we unlock the car or open the doors.

Or you have to turn on the light with switch (on the light) ?

The boot light isn't Auto like the cabin lamp.

It has an On/Off switch.
