The Retrofit Source now stocks Hyluxtek ballasts for 90 USD. It is more expensive than the same stuff you can get from Aliexpress but I guess it is not a bad option for those in the US or getting their stuff from there.

Projector retrofit for my Baleno : Xenon Planet

I have Baleno Zeta variant. After considering various options, finalised to get projector retrofit done from Xenon Planet. They have 5 types of projectors on sale.

1. Mini H1 : 11,000 Rs
It is the most basic projector and compatible only with 35W ballast. Almost all the Chinese/AES projectors available in our market are basically Mini H1 projectors.

2. Mini Super V2 : 14,500 Rs
This is the latest development from Xenon Planet and the best selling projector. It has very good high beam and easily beats most of the OEM projectors like Hella G5. It is compatible with 55W ballast.

3. Mini D2S : 16,500 Rs
Performance is almost similar as Mini Super V2. But, these projectors have advantage of installing OEM D2S bulbs.

4. Hella E55 : 19,500 Rs
It is an OEM projector. This projector has the best high beam but low beam width is average. Recommend for pure high beam fun on highways. Retrofit requires cutting of reflector.

5. FX-R V3 : 21,500 Rs
This is the biggest projector and costliest offering from XP. It has best low beam width and decent high beam. Retrofit requires cutting of reflector

Cost mentioned above is for the entire setup which includes projectors, bulbs, ballasts, shrouds and wiring. Installation charges cost 4,500 Rs

Xenon planet is based out in Chandigarh. But they have an installer in Bangalore with good experience. So I decided to get the retrofit done in Bangalore and finalised on Mini Super V2 setup (55W ballast, 4300K CN light hid bulb). Also, I opted for panamera shrouds which costs additional 2,000 Rs. Retrofit took around 6 hours. I got the headlights partially smoked (gloss black paint).

I am very impressed with installation and projector output. High beam is very powerful with good width and throw. I compared it with my friend who has Acura TL projector in his elite i20. Mini Super V2 had similar low beam but high beam was way better . Panamera shroud has very bright LED's and looks elegant.

I will post better pics soon. I am not able to capture the true output on roads, thanks to my phone camera.

Re: Auto Lighting thread : Post all queries about automobile lighting here

I am interested in a HID kit for my Creta, as I am fed up with the HB3's from philips, so far a total of four bulbs have one kaput, I do not know if it is the bulb, the relay or wiring. My cousin has a similar setup on his Creta Auto and a couple of HB3's went bust on his car as well.

I have come across a brand called "Quaden" I would like to know if there a reviewof this on tbhp ? Or does any have have this setup on their car.? Their HID 4300k is about 7k.

could you elaborate a little more on options considered and why xenon planet. few more questions
  • name of the installer
  • your feedback on the way the installation was carried out
  • was the reflector cut to fit the projector
Also do post more pics of the panamera shroud in the dark & does it come in red

Installation is done by Mr. Shyam from Bangalore. He has good experience in retrofits.

Installation was very professional. They used imported OEM type butyl sealant for resealing the headlights.

Reflector was not cut. Mini series projectors do not require cutting of reflectors.

Panamera shrouds are very bright and it's difficult to capture good pics. Panamera shroud from XP doesn't doesn't turn amber with indicator switch. Recently, TRS has come up with switchback panamera shrouds. I got panamera shroud with white LED. I think panamera shroud is available with different coloured LED bulbs. I have seen one with blue LED from XP.

Hey Naren,
Nice mod there. Really liked the projectors and the DRLs. Won't the warranty be void by doing these modifications? I would love to get something similar on my car because at less than 25k, it's a steal. I doubt xenon planet has an installer here in Hyderabad to do the job for me.

No wires were cut. Everything was plug and play. Auto headlight feature is also retained. So this wouldn't void any electric warranty. I would lose warranty for headlights like replacement for moisture, manufacturing defects etc.

Xenon planet has installation facility only in Chandigarh, Delhi and Bangalore. They are planning to open up in other cities soon.

Replaced the stock lamp of S-Cross Zeta with the Bosch Gigalight 120 Plus. Good improvement in throw as well as light output is observed. A little more whitish than the conventional Halogen lamps. Improvement in low beam visibility is better compared to the improvement in high beam.

Will post pictures later.
