One thing I have not seen mentioned anywhere is the paint quality. It looks very good and I know this is nitpick but the paint layer is quiet thin.
Recently a very small pebble fell on my bike tank while riding and chipped a bit of paint at couple of places. I could see the paint layer was thin.

Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

This is a very funny & short "review" video of the Interceptor 650. Give it a watch and you'll come out wondering on

- A Triumph showroom is selling RE bikes (yes, it's legit - they are an official dealer) which the reviewer keeps mentioning again and again
- They find the bike very light - all 436 pounds of it (lol)
- Of all things, they seem very excited about the center stand for which they nearly spend a min in a 5 min video review!

P.s. There's nothing useful in the above review from a functional standpoint though But it's a very candid from-the-heart viewpoint in one of the most crowded (500cc+) bike markets.

Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

Royal Enfield has started a single shift at it's Oragadam plant, with the rest of it's plants to follow suit in a phased manner according to news reports. 300 dealers/showrooms are expected to be operational by mid-May. TVS is also said to have re-started manufacturing operations. Some respite for the manufacturers and allied industries.

Overseas in the west, I have noticed this. Its not uncommon to find multi brand bike Showrooms - Authorised dealers at it. Yes some of them may have multiple entrances with each brand prominently on display. People by force of habit keep referring to it by the 1st Brand they started dealing with.

More than that what caught my attention was the price USD 8,000.00 ??

Best Regards

I felt ideal position would be if i could have the 2"riser on AOM handlebar, but that would definitely be too tall for stock cables.

Enters our fellow Bhpian LazyGunner (Bhusan) who also runs a nice workshop for Enfields out of Bangalore. He had already done some R&D on the taller bars and cables and agreed to help me with trying to fit AOM handlebar with 2"risers on the interceptor. With much trials, he finally managed to achieve it using TB500 cables for clutch, C5 cables for accelerator and rerouting the brake hose. This new handle bar position is much better and comfortable for my riding. Thanks all to LazyGunner. Would also like to mention a fellow rider from pune - Dilipsingh Bhati, who is made some interesting mods to his interceptor for answering all the silly doubts
Can you please let me know how I can contact Lazygunner. I would like to get a similar issue of routing my cables, sorted from his workshop in Bangalore.

Sent you a PM.
What handlebar are you using & What cables? we initially tried TB500 cables for clutch but i personally found the clutch to be a bit hard hence did some more trials with OEM clutch cable with different routing trials and have managed to achieve a setup which is working fine.

Well, he's not wrong. "Under $8000" he says.
The Triump store website's prices are the same as globally advertised $5700 - $6500 (ex-showroom) for different versions; so I guess he's quoting a rough/generic on-road price with some accessories added.

Hi Nasirkaka,
Thanks for the PM
Currently my friend's Baker Express has a AOM handlebar but he wants a further rise with the handle. He was not inclined towards rising it further since he knew that it would involve cable changes and he did not know anyone who could tackle this issue competently.

Re: New Royal Enfield spotted; completely fresh bike or new Thunderbird?

Good news for the ones eagerly awaiting the Scrambler 650. Royal Enfield Lativia has started sales of RE Scrambler 650 in limited numbers.
However, It seems to be a locally modified interceptor but the fact that it's being sold at the official dealership gives us an idea how the scrambler might look like when officially launched.
I personally think it has the potential to rip into the triumph market, if priced as aggressively as the Interceptor.

Here some photos and the specifications as listed on the RE Latvia website.

Interceptor owners,
any suggestions for a bike cover for the 650s? Planning in advance for Mumbai rains, plus my current bike parking doesn't have shade. Suggestions are most welcome, if possible, something that you have owned/tried for your bike.

What about getting a box kinda thing fabricated? Made up of light metal pipes with fiber sheet covering all sides except the bottom and the front, there will be wheels to move the box.

Just park the bike on main stand and slide the box over it, the dimensions will be according to the bike so that it is compact in size. I am thinking of making one myself for my GT.

P. S. I know my handwriting sucks

I use this for my bike (this is an imported one)

Its a Canvas (like the one used in the MM Vehicles) Cover stretched on a folding Tubular frame. A good iron/aluminium worker can easily make the frame and an upholstery person can easily make the canvas.

Best Regards & Ride Safe

Something like this is exactly what I would need. What is this called? Did you have it imported here? And how much did it cost you to get this imported.

I don't have access to underground parking, vehicles are just parked on the streets under the sun. This would be perfect, just use a lighter shade of canvas so it doesn't absorb heat too much.
