Hello Amit,
Is this the inertia switch? Manual says it is on on the co-driver side.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Official Review

Hello Safari owners! I'm a Safari devotee looking for a chance to own this beast for sometime now. If any of you are looking for a new home for your Safari, please do let me know! I'm looking for a Storme (LX/EX/VX) from around 2013-2015. Have spoken to way too many dealers/owners and have not found one yet that I was convinced was cared for with mechanical empathy. I'm based out of Bangalore, but open to acquiring from out of state if the overall budget works out for both parties. Our daughter will be turning 2 soon and we want to go travelling around the country and we would want nothing but a Safari to make memories with!

@speed79, please check for this part (the black rod connecting both wipers): basically, the wiper system minus the wiper motor and wiper blades.

Yes that's right. I had to change it. During one of my trip it triggered after doing through a pot hole at high speeds. I then opened the trim on co-drivers side below dash and reset it. After getting home i replaced the switch.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Official Review

Have shortlisted a Storme EX located currently in Govindpuri area in Delhi. Can Storme owners based out of Delhi recommend a trustworthy mechanic (preferably someone who's familiar enough with Storme) who can go inspect the car and give an honest report? I spoke to Hunny, who employs Vijay (https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/delhi...ml#post5088533 (Friendly Neighbourhood Garage & Tata Specialist - Vijay & Pandit (Delhi))), but they're located pretty far away and understandably reluctant to visit the car.

Seems mine is a more severe issue. Isolated the inertia switch and still the park/console lights behave in the same way. Turns off automatically after a few seconds :-(

I am in similar position.

Around 2016, I seriously searched for a well maintained Safari Dicor 2.2, even found one, a fellow Bhpian in Pune but waited too long to confirm and missed it.
Then I got one Tata Grande GX.. all front facing 3 rows. It was a beast. I drove it everywhere. Took long trips ... Ahmednagar to Hampi ... even slept in it when I went to photoshoots during famous yellow festival in Maharashtra.
But the problem was non availability of spares. Though Tata claimed that they relaunched Grande as Movus, I never saw a single car on road. The situation reached to a ridiculous point when even door latches and AC vent grills broke and could not be replaced. Had to sold it off for a song. But then COVID19 struck and it was a blessing in disguise.

Now my question : is it prudent to buy a vehicle whose production is stopped and availability of spares (forget service) is not guaranteed. I know, Tata Grande and Storme are chalk and cheese but....

Are Storme parts (not engine or injectors, but simple electrical or interior body parts .... arm rest, wipers ...their assembly etc.) easily available?

Buying a Storme at this moment, is it worth the future headaches?

I have a 17 year old Baleno and trust me I understand where you come from.

When I was rear ended by a cabbie and had to visit MASS, they didn't even have the part numbers of the parts to be replaced. Duh, thats a story for another time.

The Storme relatively is a newer entrant and the manufacturer is supposed to keep the production line for parts running for 15 years. There are also OES suppliers who continue to produce these parts. From what I understand from reading this forum and interacting with Safari owners, the parts are not only available but are also reasonably priced as long as one is ready for energy commitments in procuring the right parts and taking care of preventive overhauls.

Experienced Stormers can throw some light on this please!

Yes!
Energy and commitment.
And that Baleno is really good looking.

I am contemplating buying a Storme. Let's see, fingers crossed.

If you are looking for one, why not a fairly new Hexa ? 2018 ?

Btw, regarding the Storme, an observation (sample size not large) - recent sale/purchase of Storme show higher prices ! Especially the refreshed ones. Could just be a blip.

About the Grande - have heard the same about the Movus, from my cousin. They had picked up a demo vehicle, and have really used it to the max. Large family, regular trips. Wish it was a better looker for the capability it offered.

Don't need a 7 seater .... got Grande very cheap but that won't be possible with Hexa.

Yes, Grande was ...could have been better, but it was better than regular Sumo and nowhere near the Aria or Hexa.

The parts are available but not always in stock. Most of the time any parts that need to be replaced are ordered. I have had instances of receiving the parts within a couple of days to at times waiting for 10 - 15 days as well. Since last year, have had to work on the suspension, brake discs, brake line piping, turbo hose, ABS sensor assembly plus a lot of indoor trim parts. The parts have almost always been made available though after taking some time.
The key here is to plan for parts, eg I always get the TASS to review the need for repair / replacement everytime mine goes for a service or some other work. Based on that I order the parts that are not in stock in advance and only drop the car when parts have arrived.

Cheers,

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Official Review

The malfunction light came on in my Storme.
The service center guys connected laptop and said it is owing to my side mirrors issue as they are not closing automatically when the button is pressed.

Can someone confirm if the malfunction light can come up because of side mirrors?
