The words used are Halt and not Stop/ Shut.

Please watch the video in the below link and note what is written on the screen.
Halt or Stop, it is painful to see this excellent engine not get what it deserved. However, I am sure, this engine is here to stay. This will be part of Maruti Suzuki's bigger cars that will land in India. Hence, I am not really worried as a to-be owner of the S-Cross 1.6 even with the news of halt / stop coming out.

In fact, this engine in Ciaz or Ertiga with a premium of 1.25-1.5 lakhs over the price of 1.3 would have made this engine an instant mass market hit. In that case Ciaz / Ertiga would still have been closely priced to City / Mobilio and with this explosive engine, many would have gone for this variant. Anyways, it is not too late. Maruti can still try out that option and make this engine more market friendly.

That pretty much confirms that the production is not STOPPED by any stretch of imagination. This number is good enough for 2-3 months IMO.

The 1.6 on the Ertiga will require a massive redesign of the engine bay since the 1.3 itself is a tight fit. For the Ciaz it's just perfect.
I am sure the Scross will still continue with the 1.6 but based on the order.

They should still have around 1500 engines in stock.

Looks better than the official shots. They should use this image in their ads.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

I've received the VIN for S-Cross Zeta 1.3 from the dealer. But I'm not able to decode it to determine the year and month of manufacture. The Form 20 claims that the manufacturing date is Jan 2016 but I don't know if I should believe this. Maybe existing S-Cross owners can shed some light on this.

The discussion is here ---> S-Cross VIN Confusion

Thanks

@TheGoodest, does the VIN have 17 characters or 19 characters.? You need all 19 characters (excluding special characters) to check month and year of manufacturing.

A is January for sure. Typically 2015 cars have letter F for year. Not sure on 4.

What price did they quoted and how many days they took to deliver? I plan to visit them on Saturday.

I'm wondering if there is some mistake in the last character of the VIN.

.
Ideally it should be AG. A for Jan and G for 2016. Did you verify physically? If not, may be a mistake.
