A year ago, GTO had shared the following price list for the 3rd, 4th and 5th year extended warranties:
Ford Aspire : Official Review-extended-warranty.png.jpg

In all the above cases, the plan term of 36/48/60 months represents the total duration of the extended warranty (including the 24 month manufacturer warranty), and not an incremental extension of 12 months. So, a question back to your dealer is for him to explain how an extension of 7000 for the 4th year was arrived at, and to show you a formal communication from Ford that lists out the price he mentioned. I'm not sure if the dealer is just trying to pull a fast one on you.

On a different note, when you contacted Ford's Customer Care, did you point out to them that you'd got the 3rd year EW for free, and despite that did they say there'll be a refund? Maybe you ought to get them to specify what the refund amount will be in monetary terms, if you share the details of your Extended Warranty Certificate with them.

I wouldn't say this is off-topic in the slightest. You've got a good eye - it took me multiple replays to even begin to see how you were differentiating the T and T+ variants.

Thanks for your inputs. Yes I am going to check up on that with a senior executive. But the person who gave this info was quite confident about it. He mentioned that right now you can extend it only till 4th year for Aspire but in future, an extension might be available for 5th year, similar to what is available now for Ecosport.

Actually I did not realize there is difference between the two since even free EW is provided by Ford and they must have compensated the dealer for it. But now I will check with Ford care.

Could you explain what are the differences to be noticed? I guess, one is the MID screen / mobile dock. Anything else?

In general (not for this video), things to quickly look for between Titanium+ vs. Titanium are:
  1. MID screen vs. MyFord/mobile dock, as you've pointed out
  2. Leather seats vs. fabric seats (leather seats are full beige, fabric ones have a dark center)
  3. No grab handles, but has an airbag label at the top of B-pillar vs. has grab handles but no airbag label

In this video, at 0:11 its the passenger seat colour being dark at the center that gives away the Titanium variant. You can also just about glimpse the center console buttons of the MyFord dock:

At 0:46, you can just make out the airbag label at the top of the B-pillar, making it a Titanium+ variant:
Ford Aspire : Official Review-20160922-1.png

At 1:00, the passenger seat colour is once again dark at the center, so back to Titanium:

And you, my friend, went all the way to actually post the evidences! Kudos!

OTOH it's not cool though on part of Ford though; the idea being right they could have executed it better. Now it points question at the legitimacy of the whole Put To Test campaign.

We, the owners, can certainly vouch for the good handling part but that is not certainly the idea here.

By the way, is it Samir Thapar (the ace INRC driver) in the ad? Copyright - actual owner(s).

They probably scratched the Titanium+ with the barbed wire and had to complete the shoot with a Titanium.

Re: Ford Aspire : Official Review

I could care less about mileage, but just take a look at that! Lifetime mileage of 19.1 KMPL with a tuning box slapped on it for good measure. Breakdown should be about 65% City, 35% Highway usage. Of course, all values are calculated full tank to full tank.

0-2500KMs stock
(First service, oil change, RD Dieseltronic )
2500-10000KM - 40% P2, 40% P1, 20% Stock mode

The tagline of your car could be: Buy it for the thrills. Keep it for the mileage!
The reverse would equally hold true: Buy it for the mileage. Keep it for the thrills!

Common-rail diesel technology - simply astounding.

Ford specifies that engine oils should meet a particular specification WSS-M2C913-C, but only recommend using the Ford/Castrol co-branded semi-synth oil:

Shell's Helix Ultra Professional is a fully synthetic 5W30 oil. Why not use that?

Beautiful Quote. Although I'd sacrifice mileage for more power any day.

I also wanted to mention that the semi-synth oil isn't that great, but Ford doesn't leave us with a lot of options. In my case, I wasn't happy even with a 7500KM drain interval and going forward, I'd probably be sticking to a 5000KM oil change interval. My short commute to office is partly to blame (6km either way), but I'd have seriously liked the option to switch to fully synthetic without losing my warranty.

Is that even available in India? All I could find were the 5w-40 versions of Shell, which don't meet Ford WSS-M2C913-C :(

True, it doesn't seem to be available for immediate order. However, you do have a few options if you're really keen on getting fully-synthetic oil compatible with WSS-M2C913-C:
  1. Contact one of the sellers on Amazon.in and ask them if they can source it for you. If it is possible, they'll be able to list it on Amazon for you to purchase
  2. Same as above, but try the site IndustryBuying.com instead
  3. Buy compatible oil from Amazon.co.uk (which ships to India), such as this fully-synthetic Castrol MagnaTec 5W-30 or this Mobil Super 3000 5W-30.

In the meantime, give IndustryBuying a shot - as a specialist site, they might have better connections and be able to source it. Failing which, yes, you can get it brought in for you from Amazon UK.

The amazon UK options look very tempting. Rs 2200 for 4L of fully synthetic! thanks for digging them out.

Shipping seems quite expensive - it comes up to about 6600 including all import duties & shipping charges. I'll try to get it hand carried for my next service

Re: Ford Aspire : Official Review

As per Autopunditz, 2613 Aspires were sold in September. Almost double that of the sale in August. Price slash combined with festive season helped. Sales figure for Figo is 1480. Waiting for detailed T-BHP analysis.

Re: Extended warranty for 4th and 5th year

Since my Aspire DCT is nearly a year old, I checked with my dealer pricing for 4th and 5th year extended warranty (I already have 3rd year). The dealer has provided following options:
  • Extension for only 4th year would be 7000. Right now there is no option to further extend it for 5th year.
  • If I buy for 3rd, 4th and 5th year together, it will come to 20700.
Now option 2 allows me to buy for 5 years but 3rd year warranty cost is included twice (though it was offered free as an offer).

So I took this up with Ford customer care and they mentioned that we can cancel 3rd year warranty and adjust it against the cost of buying the 3rd, 4th and 5th year warranty. But when I spoke to the dealer, they mentioned that this is not possible since 3rd year warranty was given free to me as offer.

Now I am really confused what to do since I have only 10 days before my car becomes 1 year old and I will have to pay more if I buy it in second year.
Finally I had a sweet ending to the issue of extending my 3rd year warranty to 4th and 5th year. The dealer was not ready to adjust the 3rd year EW (offered free in offer) against cost of 5year EW.

I followed up with Ford CC and they agreed to adjust the cost. They even had a con-call with the dealer to explain the same to him. I really appreciate the help provided by Senthil from Ford CC. Keep it up!
