I don't see the same banner on the Skoda India website. Is this from a dealer website?

If so, maybe they are trying to clear off old stock.

Re: Initial Ownership - Unique buying experience of Skoda Rapid

Thanks for the detailed post Ram. Couple of additions to the dislikes:

1. I feel the clutch is closely positioned to the dead pedal. I have been driving my Rapid mostly on long highway drives and whenever I use crocs while driving they tend to get stuck between clutch and dead pedal. I have started wearing narrow shoes just for highway driving.

2. The stock lights are completely useless. I had a tough time driving it in Mangalore. The highway linking Mangalore city to smaller towns like Suratkal and Mulki are not well lit, had a few sketchy moments.

A big shout out to GTO for his detailed review. I would not have bought this beast without that review.

2. Not a 5 seater – but we rarely seat 5 passengers, so not a problem
3. Interiors are a bit dated
4. Clutch position is really awkward, fixed it with some new hefty mats
I hope you enjoyed this small experience of ours and Thank you for your patience. Here are some pictures of the new car.

Which variant lights are these? Rider Plus or Ambition or above?

We prefer to take out the Vento 10/10 times inside the city. Far easier to drive and control inside the city despite the heavy clutch (diesel). Rapid is almost a similar car.

If I were you, I'll trade in the Hyundai but get a slightly better kitted Rapid as a replacement. Especially since you will take her out on the highways- those creature comforts and nice to have items play a key role in long trips as far as the 'feel good factor' is concerned.
Thank you so much Turbohead. With the pandemic kicking and driving drastically reduced, I am contemplating if I should just sell off my Grand i10 and Ciaz and go for a top end Rapid. Decision will made soon. Really appreciate your input.

Re: Skoda Rapid 1.0 TSI Petrol : Official Review

Hi,

My friend based in Delhi is looking to purchase a petrol automatic rapid, he asked me about my opinion and the only thing I was able to say was that the product is fantastic but I cannot comment about the A.S.S in Delhi.

Can you guys shed some light on Skoda A.S.S in Delhi and should I let him go ahead with the purchase? The car is going to be used by his parents who are 60+ and 90% of the time they would be the one's dealing with the dealership.

Hey, if you haven't made your purchase already, then, yes you can compare and bargain within the same dealership showrooms as well. Don't expect a great deal of difference but, anything extra is good. Isn't it?

Ingress and egress will be an issue for 60+ folks , especially if they plan to use the car for 5+ years. A CSUV is anyday better for this demographic segment since they can just walk in/out of it.

They were originally going for a Polo TSI, so a rapid is a bigger car in that sense. They don't really want a bigger car, this size is just perfect for them, so thats not a concern.

The concern is the A.S.S. of Skoda.

Re: Skoda Rapid 1.0 TSI Petrol : Official Review

Hey folks - I took delivery of my Skoda Rapid yesterday and boy it is a joy to drive.

One thing I noticed was then when I press the outer body parts like bonet, doors etc..the metal seem to be getting pressed in. Is this normal? For the build quality I thought Skoda cars would have a lot stronger metal part. Or does the build quality come from structural integrity more than the metal itself?

The Skoda Rapid does not have Xenons. They use a Halogen bulb in a Halogen Projector.

Yes. Totally normal.

Our rapid could also be pressed in. But when it was time to do what mattered most, it did it. Saving my brother in a head on collision with a lorry at 50 kmph.

In my opinion, the "thud" while closing the doors, the pressing of sheet metal are all foolish ways to gauge the structural integrity of a car.
