You have to scroll the right side scroll button to toggle between Accept and Reject. Then press the scroll button to select Accept or Reject.
Once call is picked up, only option to end the call is to touch the disconnect button on the touch screen.

Happy Diwali mate!
I don't think it is a bug and this is how it works in my Octavia and many Audis I've driven. It may be useful when driving off from a tight parking spot.

Thanks Akshay

Another query: Is there a way to switch of air flow from the AC vents. I could do that easily with a scroll knob in my Skoda Rapid however didn't find any such mechanism in Octavia. Is it feasible via touch screen?

Any workaround will be super useful as my wife doesn't prefer air draft and even after keeping the left side temperature at 28c the blow out air is still cold. So not getting a resolve around this.

Fully moving the physical slider of the central vent inwards should close the vents completely.

Click the "CLIMA" physical button on the dashboard. That will bring up the A\c control screen on the touch screen. On top right you will see a round virtual button that reads as "CLIM OFF". Click that and it should completely turn off the A\c including the blower.

Re: Skoda Octavia 2.0 TSI DSG Review

In speaking with the SA after the TD, he said only regular petrol is sufficient for city/highway usage and higher octane fuel is not required. He seemed to indicate that performance is not going to be very different with regular petrol. Does Skoda mention anything specific about fuel requirement?

I'd appreciate it if some of the owners here can share their experiences and recommendations.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Skoda Octavia 2.0 TSI DSG Review

In regards to the fuel selection, these are my observations so far:

1. The car performs best when on Shell VPower. Till now the car behaves extremely sporty and refined when using this fuel. However as I understood from the forum members, that it is not 95-octane, so decided to switch to XP 95.
2. Its been only 2 times since I refuelled full tank of XP95. Till now I felt that the car has reduced acceleration and refinement. Mileage has increased a bit though.

For now considering the advice of forum members and also the price differnce, I have decided to still go with XP95 for next few times and see the result.

If anyone has similar or differing observation, please share in the forum.

Re: Skoda Octavia 2.0 TSI DSG Review

Can we upgrade the car software and get features of connected car (that is connect to Skoda ConnectED app), or does it need specialised hardware?

This is odd. Because as far as I have read and been advised, Shell V Power merely contains more by way of detergents and otherwise is the same 91 Octane fuel. I believe their primary sources are the Nationalised Petroleum Companies like IOCL etc.

Whereas, BPCL Speed 97 is indeed 97 Octane, IOCL XP 95 is indeed 95 Octane and XP 100 is indeed 100 Octane.

Re: Skoda Octavia 2.0 TSI DSG Review

Yesterday I went to see the Octavia again for consideration. This time I did not take a test drive but merely to see and feel the car out in person again. The variant on display was the Style model. Such a well built car this one, especially in comparision to the Kushaq which I test drove last week just out of curiosity.

I have some questions for anyone who can help me:

- Can I get projectors fit on the Style variant afterwards?, Style seem to have a completely different housing/design compared to the L&K with its projector units. Will it void warranty?

- Music system was mediocre at best. Can I fit an aftermarket audio system vis DSP hooked to stock touchpanel route? will it void warranty?

- Can I get an official different alloy design from Skoda? not necessarily the L&K design ones but something else? the Sales person said he wasn't sure and would get back to me. VW guys had some variety of official alloy designs for the Tiguan

- What are the replacement costs for common contact points? I would like to know the spare costs for front bumper, rear bumper, front headlights and rear taillights. The sales person again was not able to help me with this.

- How has the new DQ381 DSG unit fared in terms of reliability? It has been I think two years since this car has come out and I figure it's been out long enough to get an idea.

- Are there any offers ongoing for the Octavia?, either style or L&K variant?

Thank you for your time : )

Hi Ganesh,
That will close all blowers. Rather, I'm looking for a way to switch off left side air cons while right side should be on.

I tried moving the slider knob to extreme left and right however that only changes direction of the draft but doesn't close the vent completely.

It closes the vent completely in my car. Same applies for the rare AC vents too.

Re: Skoda Octavia 2.0 TSI DSG Review

Hi
Wanted to share a quick update on my first long trip in the Octavia L&K and share the Good, bad and some scary moments as well

(well, I did complete a 700Km trip earlier as soon as I took delivery of the car, but I would say the car's ability wasn't put to test since it was within the first 1000 Kms on the ODO.)

So here it is -
Did a quick trip to Coimbatore from Chennai and back the very next day.
Distance was around 480 Kms one way.

The car is a beauty to drive. Having driven cars like Nexon, SX4 in India in the past, and a Honda CR-V in the US freeways, the drive in the Octavia was way better.

I have to say I have never felt so confident while negotiating curves.
And the ride was so comfortable that it never makes you tired even after a 8-hour drive.

The ride quality even on bad stretches was simply amazing. There was a 50 Km stretch just before reaching Coimbatore where although it was 6-lane, it was full of patch work and I could see all other cars almost floating while the Octy was just planted

Needless to say about the power being delivered, be it the instant acceleration that helped a lot during 2-lane stretches to do a quick overtaking manuevre, or maintain good speeds on empty stretches.

The adaptive LED headlights are very good, have very good throw and they literally light the road ahead for quite a distance making driving in the dark quite comfortable.
The seats are so comfortable and it's really a joy to drive.

I found the turning radius also to be quite good which really helped while driving in narrow roads within the city.

Some observations -
The automatic wipers for some reason didn't work when it started raining, I tried to set the position as per the User manual but still didn't, need to check it.

The annoying rattle noise from right below the Infotainment in the centre of the dash keeps coming on bad roads especially in slow speeds

And the Scary moment -

I park the car on the road side, lock it and return after almost 10 minutes.
I open the door, and hear huge banging noise from the entire car.
I really panicked as to what's happening, tried unlocking and locking the car, went around the car, locked it once again but the noise just doesn't stop

It was so huge that every passerby could hear it.
It was as if like the entire car was shaking.
Finally after almost 5 minutes it stops.

I drive the car to the hotel and park it, call the SA but as expected they ask me to bring the car to run diagnostics.
It was almost closing hours.
The local SA said it could be a flywheel issue, but the engine was not even On when I faced this issue.

After some searches, found this in a forum, and it describes the exact same issue that I faced.

https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topi...ers-regularly/

Only in my case, it continued for quite sometime before stopping.

Will take the car to the Service station to check this soon.

Btw a picture where the beauty on top of the compound wall seems to wonder what is this object with almost same colour as me

Moving sliders to the right should close the vents. Works that way on my octy. If that’s not the case with your car, you may want to get that checked. I’m certain of this since I always keep the FL vents closed when I’m driving solo.
