Congratulations on your new Octavia!

Recently a fellow BHPian very helpfully pointed out that recent Octavia's (August onwards) have been getting the 8 speaker Canton system (for style) instead of the 11 speaker Canton system. Could you please share whether your car came with the 11 or 8 speaker system?

Hi
Do you recommend/use any polish that can be used as part of Daily cleaning.
Primarily I am looking for something that can improve the Gloss and shine as part of Daily care.
Thanks a lot.

The 11 speaker setup was offered only in the L&K and now it has the same 8 speaker setup as the Style variant.
The style always had the 8 speaker setup however the brochure doesn't mention Canton.

When the car is started up and in P mode, the infotainment cluster shows a sign consisting of 3 seat like icons on the bottom right side of the tachometer.
Any idea what this denotes ? Is it something to do with passengers or seatbelt’s ?

If true, this is a massive downgrade. The 11 speaker system is the best Audio system in a car in the 50 lakh price range. I wonder what Skoda is thinking with all of these downgrades and how much money is being saved on their end.

So now what is the difference between the L&K and the Style?
The parallel park which can't be used in most urban towns any which way.
Any other significant feature that justifies the 3 Lakh Rupee price difference?

What I understood is, this indicates the 3 Rear seats.
It shows up in Green and goes off after we start driving.

I wanted to check if say we have 1 person sitting in the back seat and not wearing a seat belt, whether it shows one of the 3 seats in Red.
Will do it sometime and confirm.

Interesting! If it is indeed the seatbelt indicator, then the Octavia is already future-proofed for the imminent mandatory all passenger belt rules. Skoda will only need to update the software to beep for all passengers rather than the front 2 seats only.

I would say the Jeep Compass has the best audio system this side of <50L, in its highest SKU, the lower Compass's got a lesser system. This coming from a person who had an active Morel Elate setup with reference Zapcos powering them mated to a PRS HU for the better part of a decade if that's any credit to my audiophile credentials

I personally do not mind the dilution in audio system in the L&K model IF there is a price cut to be followed, if not then this is garbage. It can be expected feature deletions in their more mainstream cheaper 2.0 cars but I did not expect them to do the same in their luxury line. Sad.

From what I remember of the test drive day, in the L&K you also get:

-Powered tailgate.
-LED Projector(adaptive) headlights, rear LED tailight design is different as well when lit up from what I remember.
-Passenger also gets powered seat with memory.
-Dash cam charger slot behind rearview mirror.
-Different alloy wheel design but same 17" size.

The above when packaged with the Canton speaker setup was still not worth the +3.5L premium over the Style variant even before. If there is no price reduction following this feature deletion then this is just pathetic.

I TD’d the L&K yesterday, it had the Canton system and I did not find it extraordinary. I was playing via car play, apple music which generally is two shades better than other streaming apps. To be honest I didn’t even find it super ceding the topline Seltos kit. Yes all the other features you mentioned are still there but definitely not more than 2.5 Lakhs worth, that too majorly cause of two additional airbags. Also there is no price cut, there is a 50k discount being offered under the garb of corporate or insurance discount.

Correction- The rear LED lights are the same in both Style and L&K

I believe this holds good for most VAG cars such as Tiguan as well.

They look identical but they seem to light up differently when headlight on(not brakes) position from what I remember, the Style variant had two 'straight' short vertical lights and the L&K has the horizontal and then sliding downwards pattern design on the rearlights position.

Unless I have completely imagined this to be the case : P. I can be wrong.

Re: Skoda Octavia 2.0 TSI DSG Review

I really thought Octavia is going to be Niggle free, but that's not the case.
Other than the AC and fogging issue that others have also reported about, I experience a rattling or vibration kind of noise while going over bad roads.

The noise comes from the dash, right behind the Infotainment.
It sounds like a vibration or what you hear from a bad old speaker.
It's quite annoying in an otherwise quiet cabin.

Thinking of taking the car to the Service station to check this.

Re: Skoda Octavia 2.0 TSI DSG Review

Hello all, was in the Tiguan boat for a long time, even went ahead and booked one, but due to the lack of communication from the dealer side, went ahead and cancelled my booking.

My old trusted steed, the Cruze started acting up after 11 long years of smooth service and decided to hasten my search for a new vehicle.

Browsed the X1, GLA and Citroen but wasn't satisfied with either one of them. Decided to let go of stubbornness to get a SUV and expand my horizons instead.

I insisted on having the feel-good driving factor like the Tiguan had so I went to the Skoda showroom to check out the Superb, drove it, was certainly impressed by it. Has all the bells and whistles a modern luxury sedan could have BUT the dealership said that there was a waiting period of 2-3 months and I couldn't wait for so long.
There was an Octavia available for test drive so decided to just check it out for the sake of it.

Let me tell you, it blew me away. Similar driving experience to the Superb, same engine gearbox combo as the Tiguan and Superb and a great set of equipment on offer.
All of this for sub-40lakhs? Take my money, I said!
Sure it does not have in-built navigation or ventilated seats or even a sunroof(Who really uses one?), it's a VFM proposition in my eyes.

SA told me that there were two cars ready in the stock-yard and I could receive delivery in less than 2 weeks!
Paid the entire amount in full next day and didn't look back.

Received delivery of my Lava Blue Octavia L&K last month, been an absolute joy to own it and drive it.

Wish all of you happy miles and many smiles with your Octavia!

Congratulations, personally I believe it’s the Best Buy below a 330i. And entry point to that sweet 2 TSI engine. Truly VFM in my opinion. Wish you many miles of safe drive.
