You have done well. My front brake pads were changed at 18k (warning came and I got it changed after driving for another 100 km). Rear brake pads were changed at 22 k. On this thread and on Whatsapp group of Bangalore xuv700 owners I have seen many folks replacing front brake pads before 25k.

A quick review of the newly launched AX5 Select variant:

The AX5 Select is Rs 1.4 lakh cheaper (ex-showroom) than the standard AX5. But it misses out on several important features:

1. LED headlights
2. Matrix-style front indicators
3. Fog lamps
4. Reverse parking camera
5. Steering-mounted MID controls
6. Cruise control
7. Curtain airbags

You can save money by installing some of these features aftermarket, especially the first five. But, crucially, the manual version of Select doesn’t come with ESP. In AX5, you can pay extra for the AX5"E" to get it.

For the automatic version, ESP is standard. However, the Select diesel automatic is still not worth it. It doesn’t include Drive Modes, which means you miss out on the fun Zoom experience.

The Select variant only makes sense in petrol automatic. Drive Modes aren’t available for petrol anyway, and you get ESP as standard along with seven seats, all for Rs 1.4 lakh less.

In my research, I found AX5 diesel AT to be the most VFM. No only have new features (Cruise control, reverse camera and push button start/stop) been added, the prices have also reduced by 50k.

For ScorpioN, the Z8 Select is a killer variant. It's not the same case in XUV700 with the AX5 Select.

I am facing a peculiar issue with our XUV700 2500 kms run Petrol AT variant.
Steps to recreate:

• After driving for around 100+ kms at a highway speeds the engine light comes on the MID and the car looses acceleration.
• Then I bring it to a standstill turn it off and restart after a minute.
• It starts accelerating just normally post that, engine light stays ON.
• I drove almost 130kms in this state with no observable issues.
• Next morning again when I start the engine light is gone and car operates normally.

Is this something worrisome or normal for a Mahindra? Has anyone else faced similar issues? This has happened twice so far, I plan to take it to service center for check up. Please advise any known solutions.

I just changed my front brake pads (after an alert) at 24k km. Mine is an AWD, July 2022. Out of the 24k km done in 2 years, 23k km were on Highways, where brake usage is significantly lesser than in the city. I feel the brake pads wore out much earlier than other cars that I have owned.

Can anyone advice on defogging the windshield when driving in the rains?
I tried everything - pressed defog windshield button which automatically changes air circulation mode, vary A/C temperature, blower speed, keep front windows partially open etc.

But nothing seems to work effectively. I have to continuously fiddle with buttons to get rid of fog.

It looks like the brake pads wear out much faster in the AT and in a MT, the driver has "more control" over ensuring that the brake pads last longer.
Also the ADAS equipped cars seem to have accelerated brake pad wearout.

Keep the AC running. The cooling should be few degrees below outside temperature. Too cold and there will be condensation from outside. That irritate me the worst. Circulate outside air also to reduce moisture inside the car. Warmer inside causes fogging of glass.

Turn on your car heater at full for 2-3 minutes on the windshield setting. It will go away 100%.

Yes, mine is diesel AT. My drive is 50% highway and 50% heavy city traffic and I'm bit aggressive in acceleration as well as braking.

In one the posts on this forum I read that even Harrier and Safari suffer with same problem of early brake worn out. This is because of quality of brake pads itself. It seems that for these big vehicles source is same for both Mahindra and Tata.

Mine is AT too. 70% highway and 30% city. I use
Minimal brakes and anticipate red lights/ traffic jams etc. Regular usage of Adaptive cruise on highways. Yet, I feel that somehow this car needs more usage of brakes than a sedan, maybe it's an SUV thing. Regarding MT, I feel the same. Driver has more control in braking as well as fuel efficiency( by upshifting early). My Honda City Idtec VX lasted 60K.

Heating works only when windshield glass is cooler than outside temperature and fogging is happening from outside. If AC is too cold and blowing directly on windshield, there will be condensation from outside.
Just reduce your AC cooling in such case.

Keeping AC on at proper temperature and in recirculation mode is the best way to deal with windshield fogging.

Just slightly cooler than outside. That way you are comfortable inside the car and temperature of the glass is not cold enough for fogging from outside.
Never use hand to wipe the fog away

It is a bit tricky if you live in a very cold region and need to keep the inside warmer. But windshield washer and wiper will do the job most of the time.

It will be bad to circulate air from outside specially in bumper to bumper traffic, once a while just open and close the window so the heavy moisture from breathing is regulated and there is enough oxygen inside too.

Remember when it is raining the humidity outside is also quite high and pulling in outside air may worsen the fogging.

I have been following thread pretty regularly and have not come across such a report. If you are able to reproduce, ASC should be able to diagnose and fix. I think there will be error codes which they can scan for.

You mentioned this happens after 100+ kms on highway speed. Are you facing any engine heating issue (if you were enjoying Zoom mode)? Do you have any Alert notifications on your instrument cluster? Ideally, there should be one. Take a picture next time. Most likely some sensor is failing or loose connection.

My NOX sensor, in Diesel, was malfunctioning within 160kms on the Odo and had to be replaced.
