Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Does it make any sense to buy an XUV700 at this time?

The BE cars have shown that Mahindra has really upped its game in terms of driving dynamics and features, which should make their way in ICE models soon (especially the flagship 700, already due for a refresh).

Secondly, after electric in 2025, Mahindra will launch hybrid powertrains in 2026, which will massively impact the resale value of gas-guzzling petrol variants.

Mahindra clearly does not care about the value destructing impact for existing owners with new launches (refer to Roxx effect on Thar).

While diesel still seems ok, is petrol a sensible option in this scenario (even for those with below 10k running/year)?

I will say YES and go ahead with 7oo, unless you want to be a beta tester for the born EV from Mahindra. Moreover XUV7oo would be less expensive (to buy and own) than the XEV 9e. I hear that, the hybrid will come in XUV3XO first in 2026 and later in XUV7oo. XUV7oo gasoline sales are already very minimal to private buyers. Most of these sales are limited to cars that are bought by companies and they don't care about resale value.

Sold inventory means very little to OEMs. OEMs would not be worried about resale value of a sold car and they take actions based on market needs/demand.

I also have 12K/year running and i choose to go for Hycross Hybrid, although i do not have any budget constraint that time but when i look back this seems to be a better decision than buying the 330Li.

Mahindra has not announced any planned updates for XUV700 in 2025.

XUV700 got below updates in January this year
1. Napoli Black color in all variants
2. Ventilated seats in AX7L
3. 6-seater option in AX7L
Mahindra could add auto dimming IRVM to XUV700 sometime in 2025, cooling fan to wireless charger (both are available in Scorpio-N Z8L now) and 55w/65w fast charging USB-C port in front and second rows. I don't think Mahindra would add anything else to XUV700 in 2025.

XUV700 petrol is punchy, fast, smooth shifts in AT. NVH is not much in petrol XUV700 unless you revv the engine hard. All of this comes at the cost of fuel efficiency. I feel close to 2-ton car like XUV700 giving 7+kmpl mileage within city is acceptable.
Some of my colleagues drive sub 4m pesudo SUVs with turbo petrol engines. Even though these cars are smaller and have lesser weight they don't get more than 9-10kmpl within city.

If seeing less mileage will not bother you and you don't mind 600km tankful range, then go for XUV700 Petrol AT.
If these are going to bother you even 50% of the time, then I would suggest you go with XUV700 diesel MT or AT.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Folks, one question. On AX7L models with keyless start/stop, how do you switch off the engine at a signal without turning off the ICE etc. Currently I switch of entire car and then turn on again without pressing the brake, but this is an annoyance cause cuts off android auto connection

If you are in the market for car now then no point waiting as best case refresh is min 1 yr away and it may not have hybrid yet since will need lot of testing before release. If you are ok to wait 1 yr, then maybe you could wait longer too

I think I am stating the obvious here, but at the risk of sounding dense, just wanted to ask if you have tried using auto start-stop feature? It will kill the AC when activated at the traffic stop (as long as you keep your foot on the brake) but keep the ACC power going. That should not disable the ICE.

You are right that start stop doesnt disable ICE but its a pretty poorly implemented features in automatic version. I have written about it in my initial ownership report. It cuts in very aggressively, so very inusable feature in bumper to bumper traffic and needs to be kept off mostly.

I agree about the poor implementation. It should wait at least for a few more seconds after a complete stop before triggering, but alas, the Mahindra Gods felt otherwise when bestowing us with this "gift". Unfortunately my helpfulness meets a wall here and i don't know how one can solve this.

There is No way to do that. What you have stated is the only way.
The system is designed that way.

I am thinking of creating a contraption where the auto-start stop button is always pressed in.

Apparently this is working for the ScorpioN / maybe Thar 3 door too

It is not just a install TMPS to spare wheel task. It needs to be enabled with a visit to the service center along with a manual TPMS learning session. Right?

I just ordered the TPMS from boodomo 1805BW600221N
(along with a AWD badge 7992908B10 and Tail Gate sequential lights 1703AW600041N and 1703AW600031N )
I got the tail lamps installed. Also changed out the reverse lights to led ones from AUTOBAHN

old indicators just light up at the very corner

replaced just the middle tailgate ones. So the ends light up along with the start of the tailfgate ones.

Wow! This looks promising. I'd be so happy if this works. I'm just curious if it will have any detrimental effect on the button or any other glitch in the software due to constant feedback from the button. Coz it's not a on-off "click" type switch, it's just a toggle button. But I am willing to try it out and see what happens.

What kind of contraption do you have in mind, given that a coin or a zip tie allegedly works well? I'm genuinely curious about this and thank you from the bottom of my heart. This auto start-stop is the biggest irritation I have with this car

Could you please explain a bit more on this, is the bulb swap a DIY or some special tools are needed to open the (?)sealed unit? Would like to replace all halogens with LEDs if possible.

Thanks!

Hi Vtach,

It was a simple swap of the bulbs. I did not do DIY but it is very much a feasible option.

Please go through these post from A.G.:

I did not change the brake light bulbs. I am satisfied with the light throw of the standard Braking Bulbs and High Mount Brake Lamp. The standard reverse light bulbs did not light up much of the rear, so I just changed them.

Lot to learn and live with the ADAS. Emergency breaking gave me shocks, will write about it later.
Hi Sandesh, congratulations on your AXL 7 D AT. Hope you are enjoying your ride. I also stay in Thane. You booked the vehicle from Mahindra Modi or Salakar? Also what are the charges and experience with Zekardo?

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

To everyone still struggling with Apple CarPlay not connecting or frequently disconnecting, even two years after its launch, here’s something that might help.
After six months of trial-and-error, I found a solution that has been working perfectly for me for the past month.

First, access the hidden Developer Menu by pressing the Settings icon five times on your XUV 700’s infotainment system. Then, go to Wi-Fi settings (second last option) and change the Access Point Security to WPA2 and the Channel ID to 149. After that, delete the pairing from both your phone and the infotainment system. Reconnect your phone as a fresh device, and it should work smoothly.
The only minor issue is that sometimes CarPlay doesn’t connect automatically. In such cases, I simply open Bluetooth and press Phone, Music, and Apple CarPlay in sequence, and it connects immediately.

I’ve visited three service centers, and no one was able to fix this issue. Even the Cotek team had no idea how to solve it. Hopefully, this method works for you too. For reference, I’ve attached a photo of the settings.
