You mentioned that you serviced your car in September, and it's been over a month now. Did you not take the vehicle out or notice any oil spillage?

I feel that if the drain plug had not been tightened properly, the engine oil would have emptied by this time (around 35 days).

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Blank displays

Has anyone experienced blank displays for hours together? Last time this happened when my battery went dead. It started working after parking overnight. I am now facing the same since yesterday - I had to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery as infotainment was having issues and the display hadn’t come back since then. Everything other than the displays and audio works. Since one week or so, I am also seeing frequent freezing of infotainment; music stop working, thud sounds from speakers and Apple CarPlay not responding to touch. They get fixed automatically after some time.

By the way, the battery went dead in 2year 9 months and had to be replaced too, last month.

I usually get this blank screen every few days but it starts after a while on its own and it never lasts for hours.

Aux battery replacement is normal after 2 to 3 years for most cases. I have changed several cars and the always see this happen anywhere close to 3rd year of car owner ship.

If you feel that there is electrical leakage take your car to your nearest battery outlet and ask them to check with a multimeter. If you disconnect negative terminal of aux battery and use a multimeter to check mostly you will get to know if there is electrical leakage.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

First Major Problem with my Slytherin

I own an AX 7 D AWD (Aug 24 make) and had run it about 1750 kms when the problem of screen blackout hit me in a serious way. Like many other owners here this had been a twice or thrice occurrence previously also but was resolved on its own. This time nothing would help and I had to drive 300kms without any idea about fuel, speed, tyre pressure or even roads to make it to my current city. Now the car is parked in service centre(Automotive Kochi) since yesterday and they are also at their wits end.
Now their only solution seems to be replacement of silver box which will again take time. Anyone here please reply whether someone had had this replaced? What one needs to ensure before and after it?
Meanwhile my family is giving me an earful for selling my previous trusted horse Baleno RS and going for an expensive but faulty machine. I have sticked to my guns that it's not the mechanics but only some software bugs. God help me.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

I had this doubt regarding the auto booster headlight of XUV 700 which get activated above 80 kph. Is it similar to other ADAS cars auto high beam assist or is there some extra light which turns on post you cross 80 kph?

In short are there 3 lights- low beam, high beam and booster lights ?

I do own AXL AWD with close to 40k on odometer , faced similar niggle earlier multiple times. One suggestion what I received from M&M Technical team is that - first press the Start/Stop push button without holding break. Wait until the instrument cluster initialise that means the dials has to go around and come back.
After this hold break and press Start/Stop button to start the engine.

I have been following this from past few months and haven’t seen screen blackout issue in recent days.

She further added that due to less oil there is error with Turbo and needs to be replaced. You are right that due to incompetence of service center my 2.5 year old well maintained car has to face this issue. It seems it will take 10 days for turbo to get delivered and more time to fix it and then to check whether there is any other issue. This all is happening away from home. Who is responsible for all the issues me and family facing? Who is responsible for my car to go through this? What steps Mahindra has taken in this regard? I am going to escalate and seek answers. I have done everything you want us to do. Now it’s Mahindra’s turn to show how they resolve these issues. There is not a single phone or email about this issue.

Now the question is regarding the warranty of the Turbo? The person who looks after is not available due to holidays and I will come to know once he inspects the car.

One thing which I had believed that Indian manufactures are doing great and giving tough competition to other foreign brands is all farce because without quality you are 0. The vocal for local only works when there is quality. Nobody would spend their hard money on the sentiments when you know your end product or services is a lemon.
If not already, I suggest escalate it to Senior Official at Mahindra Service department. They should be taking some action against the service center and hopefully they may be able to get you to a faster resolution and some assurance of quality work going ahead.

Regards

Based on your explanation I feel the start/stop push button is similar to starting car with a key. We first turn the key to the first click, dials go around and come back. After that we turn the key to crank the engine.

Do you do this every day when the car is started for the first time or every time when starting the car after parking?

Auto high beam assist automatically switches the headlight to low beam (if in high beam) when it detects an oncoming vehicle and then switch back to high beam.
This feature is there in XUV as well but auto booster is a different feature.

Yes, there are 3 lights, one each for low beam, high beam and auto booster

The above two are for low and high beam while the one marked is for the auto booster. When the car crosses 80kmph, these extra lights on both sides turn on to increase visibility, in addition to the normal low/high beam that is being used and once the speed is reduced, it turns off automatically but the headlights remain in the settings they're being used on.

Thanks PMK. But I think these people must have tried it and as far as I remeber I also tried twice to first try ACC mode only. But whether I waited for dials to sweep I don't remember. Now that boat has sailed past and they have decided to change the silver box which will take another week.

Here is what I found in teambhp for silver box change.

I guess I will have to be very vigilant that day so that it's installation goes smooth.

Agree, drove the XUV500 for almost 8 years and then upgraded to the 7OO.
All I can say is that Mahindra has done a stellar job with the refinement of the vehicle.
The 500 was a bit crude in areas, but the 7OO has a lot better ride, handling and the auto gear box.
2nd row seating space and comfort is unmatched.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Got my vehicle 20K serviced bit early at 19,695 in September last week ahead of festive holidays travels and crossed 20K within couple of days of service. Started getting the 20K service warning in the instrucment cluster everytime I start the vehicle. Didn't bother to clear it. Got the below SMS couple of days back from Mahindra:

Dear Customer,
We hope you're doing well. It's time for scheduled service of your XUV700, and we've noticed an alert on instrument cluster.
To keep up your vehicle performance , please click below link to schedule service appointment at your convenience:
https://chatbot.withyouhamesha.com/
If you've already serviced your vehicle, kindly contact your nearest Mahindra authorized dealer to reset the reminder.

Warm regards, Mahindra*for*You

Hope that they use this collected data to iron out the software glitches one day. Main issues that I face in my 10 months of owning 7OO is with blank or frozen screen when I really needed it for navigation or to change drive modes. Before this I had 5OO for 10 years and it has its fair share of niggles and you are expected to punch your attendance in service centres periodically so that you can have a meet and greet with the technicians and SA.

I'm also using the procedure mentioned in earlier post by "PMK-MoJo" i.e. boot the electronics first and then start the engine and it reduced the blackouts frequency but not completely.

Found this:
- Allotted FWD instead of AWD that itself is in transit. They wanted me to pay.
- They have no idea now when my vehicle will be coming.

So all in all big disappointment.

Side note: Any recommendation for SA in Jaipur for XUV 700.
The dealership has no clue about the vehicle yet

However, I had booked with another dealership on 14th Oct. Thanks to @supertinu for sharing his SA details. Much to my surprise, vehicle arrived on 30th. I have not able to complete PDI due to Dipawali holidays. Will complete in next 2-3 days and hopefully take delivery in couple of days.

Have been spending some time about accessories. As of now, I have shortlisted below (AX7L D AT AWD Everest White):
From dealership:
- Mud flaps
- Illuminated Scuff Plates
- Tailgate scuff protector
- Screen protector
- Rain visor

3rd Party:
Side steps (need to research more on this)
Rear bumper guard (still undecided on usage)
3D or 7D mats
Sun film (transparent)

Questions:
Has anyone using sun file on windshield? Does it hamper with ADAS functionality?
Thoughts on PPF or ceramic coating. My car is parked in basement and I hardly park it in open. Usage is mostly highways.
Please share your thoughts on above list. Any other accessories required?

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hello,

I was just looking at the market scenario and got a look at the XUV 700 AX7L D AT.

First impressions: Very Good.

I was honestly surprised but the interiors are unlike any Mahindra vehicle I have used in the past .

The sales consultant handed me the keys of the demo car to play around with while explaining stuff to my parents. I guess he knew whom to target . Steering was extremely light. I would call it lighter than even some Marutis. Would test how good it is during an actual test drive. Camera clarity was better than my S Cross.

Middle row has got good space. My family members were comfortable with the 3rd row space as well. They aren't on the bulky side & not extremely tall either. So, that helps. In comparison, me (about 5' 10") at 3rd row would be comfortable only for short journeys at best.

My take being, it is primarily a 5 seater car with occasional 7 seater usage which also seems to fit our use case the best.

Showroom experience was a LOT better than Toyota where no display car was present for Hycross. Went to 2 Toyota showrooms in Bhubaneswar & similar situation at both places. And, I am not going to book one without even looking at the one. So, that's that I guess

Tata has plenty of horror stories with Harrier/Safari. So, I am not inclined towards it.

Mahindra folks were also eager to offer test drive & I plan to take one soon. The waiting period is around 2 months which is good I guess.

Now my question to you folks:
  1. Are there any big mechanical issues with the vehicle that I need to be aware of? I am looking at Diesel AX7L AT.
  2. Can respective owners provide some insights into their service experience? I know it varies from place to place but still, some idea might help. I will try to gather some local feedbacks from my city but those might not be XUV 700 specific.
  3. Can I turn off some ADAS features if I want to? Auto-braking for instance, I want that permanently off. Don't want any surprises within city limits.
  4. For anyone with insights, do you see the prices increasing in near future? I feel the present prices are good enough in the market. Around ₹5L cheaper than Hycross VX(O). I can maybe get one Alto for that price and use it for city limits if I wanted.
