Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Took a TD for XUV 700 Diesel Manual.

Engine performance was superb

The car was extremely bouncy & was throwing passengers everywhere. So much so that my family rated comfort of S Cross way over this. Fearing something was a miss, I checked the pressure from the in-built TPMS & it was way over prescribed limits (27-42-45-43)

I guess thanks to Mahindra for creating a terrible first impression. I mean they did not even check the tyre pressure from TPMS & that's just a few clicks away in the MID display.

For people worried about boot space, the car can honestly carry a small & medium size suitcase easily & still has some more space for few small stuff.

Mahindra XUV700 Review-20241105_124632.jpg

And yes, the door closes as well

One can fold one seat down (thank God M&M provides 50:50 split fold) & carry a lot more stuff.

I may take another TD with correct tyre pressure to see if our terrible first impression with respect to vehicle comfort changes but something that caught my eye & might end up becoming a deal breaker is the reverse camera lag. It is not at all dependable like the one in our S Cross which has near 0 lag.

Lane keep assist, ADAS & all that tech is fine but I honestly cannot tolerate a reverse camera lag. This is something I will be using multiple times everyday. Can owners confirm if it's the case with their vehicle as well?

Unfortunately, the tyre pressure being way over limits is a common grouse with TD vehicles across brands. You should not let it dampen your spirits or outlook regarding the XUV 700.

Mine is an AX7 P AT (Dec 2021) and have not faced any reverse camera lag as yet. This could have been a niggle with the TD vehicle of the dealership.

I also upgraded from Scross to XUV and is super happy with the way it is performing.

The ride is good if the pressure is 33psi for driver only and 35 psi for full load. My third row is always folded and I have an AX5's boot mat on top of it feels like a bigger Scross.

Also regarding the reverse camera lag, the earlier models had a bit of a lag which was near perfected on the latest software update. Still it is not a match to Scross but something which we will get used to and is liveable in my opinion.

That is stupendous mileage indeed. How much do you manage in moderate and high levels of Pune traffic?

Sireesh Auto sales consultant in Bangalore confirmed today that AX7 has a price increase of 30k and AX7L an increase of 50k; Not sure of the day of being effective though.

The lowest I got is 8.4. This included mostly short trips within Hinjewadi. But generally when I stay within Pune I get 10-11 with moderate traffic. In comparison my VW Vento 1.6P used to give me 11-13.

All these numbers are with tire pressure 32Psi and AC on.

I had booked XUV700 and it is not delivered yet. I got in touch with 2-3 other dealerships, and all are indicating price revision will be effective from 11th November.

All salespersons are not ready to disclose how much price increase is expected. I can live with ₹30k price increase, but if the price increase nears ₹1 lakh, then I will cancel my booking as ex-showroom price will go beyond my planned budget.

Around 40k increase for AX7 and AX7L was what was quoted to me today.

Hopefully it is not in the 1L range. If it is then maybe dealer would push some more discounts from his end now as goodwill because the dealer told me discounts can be only confirmed after the new prices are out.

That's the only reason i can think of that the accountants might push the hike to 1L considering demand is still there.

2 dealers in Bangalore confirmed for ~50k increase for AX7L so i guess its not in the 1L territory; one of them also said that AX7 version had an increase of 30k

As of today, there is no official communication from M&M to the dealers, it’s all speculations.

Price hike is acceptable, provided Mahindra adds missing features like Auto Dimming IRVM, ORVM blindspot indicator and electronic boot.

Otherwise it’s a big demotivation for the new buyers. If no feature updates then Mahindra should continue this offer till year end, it will help them to continue maintain high sales figure as like October.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

I did a test drive of XUV7OO D AT today for comparing with the Roxx. Noisy engine is a spoiler for me especially when compared to the dead silent Roxx 2.2 D AT. Seats offer better (a tad better) thigh support compared to the Roxx where it is non-existent. A full seat work could fix this issue, provided side airbags are no way disturbed. Steering is comparatively good for a Mahindra and similar to Roxx. Space management is over all good in XUV. But the worst part is the ergonomics. When I try to open the drive side door from inside, it took me a while to find the latch to open it. It is too backward and it is not there it supposed to be, just to my arms length + or - few inches in the right window. But it is positioned too backward and I have to bend/angle my right arm or use left arm (awkward!) to open the latch. Sound system is nothing to write about. It is simply need to be upgraded. Roxx sounds a bit better but good enough though. Seat in the back or a bit flatter and could be angled little bit upward so that the thigh support could be adjusted easily. But the space is decent in the back. The third row seats are big but the leg space is good for kids. The test drive vehicle is approximately 2021 model with 30k on the ODO. So, there were lots and lots of suspension noises, softer suspension movements which is not at all going to help the cause during this kind of test drive. Pricing wise, there are no more discounts in the AX7 variants. Newer versions are offered with ventilated seats and wireless charging + android auto etc. I like the ventilated seats idea for sure. Still, no 6 airbags as standard across the entire range like that of Roxx, so, Roxx wins here in the Safety department. Ride quality seems to be matured compared to the Roxx though, even with that run down suspension. Diesel engine noise is a bit too much. I seriously hope there is a new update/upgrade is on the way for XUV7OO as Mahindra has truck load of cash now. Approximately 3000 crore profit announced. So, there might be more updates and refreshes, if they are not still in that stingy mindset.

So, now, I am still set on Roxx. Roxx opens up a lot of options. I can choose a barebone MX Petrol Auto, or AX5 Auto in Diesel or I can go for full blown AX7 (booked) if I want to. If it is going to be MX, then it will be Petrol Auto and if I go up the ladder, then only Diesel as my usage is upwards of 25k per year. Mahindra need to be appreciated for not charging a premium for Diesels but they get their share by playing with the other features like dual disc brakes are available only in Petrol MX not in Diesel MX. 4WD is available only in Diesel and not in Petrol etc. Finally, Roxx is a modern car, nicely executed, basics are sorted out mostly except the slow speed ride on unpaved surfaces. The Cherry on top is the Wrangler design at a dirt cheap price. Finally, there is going to be price rise soon but I am not sure whether it is just to push people.

To me, this is the exact opposite , XUV700 felt better in all areas except suspension noise, XUV700 has better seats, better second row seats and overall it felt better for a family including ride quality

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

(Enquiring for a friend of mine.)

2 Weeks back he took delivery of XUV 700 from Sireesh Auto near Silk Board / Bommanahalli, Bangalore. Today he went for his first service to Sireesh, Singasandra, Bangalore and he had a very bad experience.

1. He wanted to opt in for pick and drop but they told they dont have driver for drop.
2. He decided to drop it by himself and stay back as the back and forth commute will take lot of his time.
3. He was told they will give it relatively sooner (he thought too as it is first service) but they made him sit till evening
4. He sat in the lounge area almost a day (working) but looks like the lounge area was very badly maintained. Not even a proper / comfortable seats.
5. During the delivery he noticed they lost his 3M floor mat. They went searching for it and found some but they couldn't locate one of the mat.
6. What he has observed was, the car was water washed and oil level checked and delivered and not sure why they took till evening.
7. Help desk / reception wasn't functioning for him to ask for anything.
8. Service guys were arguing and blaming one another before customers

Over all he had a very bad experience. He is coming from Hyundai and he feels Hyundai ASS is much better than what he has felt with Mahindra today.

He wanted some suggestion for an alternate ASS to Sireesh Singasandra, Bangalore. If possible do share the service person name / number of the ASS.

Thanks in advance.

I always go to Chrome Motors, Mysore Road. Not sure which area your friend lives in but give it a try to other service stations too. In case you need any help or specific questions, PM me and I will try doing the best for your friend to have him connect with folks I know.
