Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Any news about ESP, which variant will it be available from?
This being an important safety feature, can't digest that it will be available as an Option Pack only, specially when competition has it as Standard.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

My Mahindra sales agent messaged right now.

"Sir plz come 2 October eving 5 O'clock
See the xuv-700 and amazing test drive so plz come"

So 2nd October it's going to be at VC Motors, Kanpur.

I believe it will be same everywhere. This also means the full reviews from Youtubers should start coming out anytime now.

No, I don't have any other car right now. But as i had mentioned that I will be using this car for the sole purpose of long highway trips and due to the current COVID situation I don't foresee that happening any time soon (Travelling interstate is still a headache and is going to be the same for next 6-7 months). Also WFH getting extended till 2Q-2022 is another factor. Not that I was planning to use the 700 for my daily office commute in Bangalore traffic but still, it is a factor nevertheless.

But as they say, one can keep a man away from his machine only for so long. I still am in 2 bits about this. Mind says to wait but heart says to book it ASAP. As per the reports, the TDs are going to start from 2nd. Can't wait to experience it first hand and see who wins; brain or the heart

Just FYI, its not the mechanical bits that are making me to wait but the other aspects like;
  • Tech gizmos
  • Material choices of some parts. Recent low impact videos sure do raise some concerns.
  • GNCAP rating, although from the management interviews we can be assured of good ratings.
  • Missing features like ventilated seats, Auto IRVM, AX7 5-seater variant which might get added in the following year.
The above list is in decreasing level of what I consider serious issues. GNCAP rating is low in seriousness because I am almost certain that it will get at least 4 if not 5 stars going by recent track record of M&M.

I too spoke with a dealer in Pune and a friend in M&M both said that the response from Pune was not as expected. Dealers were allowing people inside the vehicle during freedom drive itself. Friend said that vehicles are being sent to peripheral locations on the basis of calls received/made by Mahindra sales. By that logic Pune must have been alloted lesser vehicles and the city will see longer waiting periods if the public shows delayed interest after vehicle launch. Dealers will receive the cars a day before launch and in Pune's case the vehicles will most certainly be stationed at chakan plant. Regarding launch date I too have the same info i.e on or after 7. I guess the price & variants launch will be earlier and physical launch later

A video of freedom drive in Pune. Only a car lover can feel the pain of this video, at around 2.00 our worst fear about those pop up handles almost comes true. The youtuber also tries to manually operate the electronic sunroof.

True. That’s why some dealers didn’t allow anyone to come near the vehicle.

All the bells and whistle for under 25L ex-showroom, sounds reasonable to me. Looking forward to see new XUV500. Petrol while guzzler, can be a game changer as I see.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

21.6 lakhs ex-showroom for a fully loaded top end variant is really good pricing. Also the 60k price difference between 5 seater and 7 seater is quite reasonable. The AX7 Diesel AT at that price will be a popular pick, myself included.

Seems like Mahindra decided to go with just one option pack, the Luxury Pack. Maybe they'll introduce more combinations down the road.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Based on the what Autocar is saying, you cannot get both the Luxury optional pack and the AWD pack at the same time.

Where as the Mahindra website doesn't seem to indicate that directly, but seems to be the case by implication.

So no top of the line AX7L variant with AWD! Why Mahindra!

If you get the optional pack on the AX7 AWD, you have top of the line variant.

According to Autocar there is no AWD variant as such. The AWD bit is an optional pack.

On the Mahindra website, there is a AWD variant shown, but no AX7 L AWD option. That's because they don't seem to let you add optional packs manually, at least not yet.

May be when the bookings go live on 07.10.21, the website format changes.
